Leah Dawn Billingsley Cooper
Mrs. Leah Dawn Billingsley Cooper, age 29, of Colt, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000, at her home.
Mrs. Cooper was born Dec. 20, 1970. She was the daughter of Vernon Ray Billingsley, Lyndia Rowton and Grizzly Monahan. She was a life long resident of St. Francis County. She was a 1989 graduate of Forrest City High School, a member of The Pine Tree Baptist Church, the Teamworks Program and worked at the ABC Daycare Center in Wynne.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Cooper; three daughters, Kristin Cooper, Courtney Cooper and Taylor Cooper, all of Colt; four brothers, T.J. Monahan and Dennis Monahan, both of Mt. Home, Charles Monahan and Pete Monahan, both of Illinois; a sister, Sarah Monahan of Mt. Home; and her grandmother, Geneva Rowton of Marianna.
Visitation will be Saturday, Feb. 19, 2000, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel in Wynne. Funeral services will be Sunday, Feb. 20, 2000, at 2 p.m. at the Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home of Wynne with Rev. David Yates officiating. Burial be at Ellis Chapel Cemetery in the Ellis Chapel Community under the direction of Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home.
Inez Phillips
Mrs. Inez Phillips, age 63, of Marianna, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2000, at Methodist North Hospital in Memphis.
Mrs. Phillips was born Oct. 15, 1936, in Lee County to Cole Baty and Lovie Jones. She was a grocery store owner and a member of First United Pentecostal Church.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Phillips, of Marianna; a son, David Phillips, of Marianna; two daughters, Joyce Jones and Betty Philips, both of Marianna, a brother, Cole Baty Jr., of McDonald, Ga.; two sisters, Marie Vickeres, of Garden Grove, Calif, and Earlene Culbert, of Multree, Ga.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today, Tuesday, Feb. 22, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home. Funeral [DEMO]es will be Wednesday, Feb. 23, at 1 p.m., at Roller-Citizens Chapel in Marianna with Rev. Terry Teddlie officiating. Burial will follow in Marianna Memorial Park under the direction of Roller-Citizens Funeral Home.
Charles Edward Gray
Mr. Charles Edward Gray, age 64, of Forrest City, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2000 at his residence.
Mr. Gray was born Feb. 23, 1935, in Malvern. He was a retired truck driver for Sanyo Manufacturing.
He is survived by his wife, Walker Ann Gray, of Forrest City; eight sons, Charles Gray of Rockford, Ill., Christopher Gray, Lecoty Williams, Jeffery Williams, Cory Williams, Eric Williams, all of Forrest City, Leonardo Hooks, of Orlando Fla., and Michael Hooks, of Little Rock; four daughters, Wanda Staton and Karen Gray, both of Rockford, Ill., Yvonne Gray, of Chicago, Ill., Shanta Gray-Ursery, of Carrollton, Texas; two brothers, William Gray of Chicago, Ill., and Robert Gray, of Malvern; 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, Feb. 25, from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Clay Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday, Feb. 26, at 10 a.m. at Christ Temple Pentecostal Church. Burial will follow in Casteel Cemetery under the direction of Clay Funeral Home.
Jesse Hall Sr.
Mr. Jesse Hall Sr., age 75, of Forrest City, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2000, at St. Vincent Infirmary Medical Center in Little Rock.
Mr. Hall was born Oct. 23, 1924, in Forrest City and was a farmer.
He is survived by seven sons, Jesse Hall Jr., Lonnel Hall, James Hall, Levern Hall, all of Freeport, Ill., Issac Hall and Kenneth Hall, both of Forrest City, Ronnie Hall, of Norfolk, Va.; four daughters, Charlene Graham of Freeport, Ill., Christine Williams of Forrest City, Dorothy Hall and Rose Gulley, both of Little Rock; a brother, Samuel Hall, of Kansas City, Mo.; two sisters, Louise House, of Forrest City, Muree Edwards, of Los Angeles, Calif.; 20 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, Feb. 25, from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Clay Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday, Feb. 26, at United Christian M.B. Church at 2 p.m. with Rev. John Lockhart officiating. Burial will follow at Casteel Cemetery under the direction of Clay Funeral Home.
Austin Gene Conner Russell
Austin Gene Conner Russell, newborn, of Marianna, died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2000, at the Med Center in Memphis.
He was born on Feb. 19, 2000, in Forrest City.
He is survived by his mother, Regina Conner, of Marianna; his father, Deandrew Russell of Forrest City; his grandparents, Vicki and Corles Conner, both of Marianna; and his grandmother, Flora Russell, of Forrest City.
Funeral services were held graveside Thursday, Feb. 24, at 10 a.m. at La Grange Cemetery with Rev. Ivan Fletcher officiating and under the direction of Roller-Citizens Funeral Home.
Virgie Irinie Johnston
Mrs. Vergie Irinie Johnston, age 86, of Forrest City, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City.
Mrs. Johnston was born Jan. 11, 1914, in Alabama to Norman Smith and Witta Lou McKinney. She was a member of Landmark Baptist Church, a member of Eastern Star and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Claudie A. Johnston and a son, Gaylon Johnston.
She is survived by two daughters, Gail Lewis of Forrest City, and Evelyn Pamplin of Batesville; a son, Claudie Johnston of San Antonio, Texas; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held today, Monday, Feb. 7, at Roller Citizens Funeral home with Rev. Gary Malone officiating. Burial followed in Sunset Memorial Park in Barton under the direction of Roller-Citizen Funeral Home.
Richard H. DeVazier
Richard H. DeVazier, age 60, of Marion, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2000, at the Baptist Central Hospital in Memphis.
Mr. DeVazier was born October 29, 1939, in Forrest City, and was the son of Clarence DeVazier and Maurine Porter DeVazier. He was a dispatcher for Ash Haulers Trucking of West Memphis, a Veteran of the Army, a member of the National Sporting Clays Association and was a Baptist.
He was previously married to Helen Gore and she survives him along with a son, Grant DeVazier of Batesville, and a brother, Tommy DeVazier of Forrest City.
Visitation will be today, Tuesday, Jan. 11, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home. Services will be held graveside Wednesday, Jan. 12, at 4 p.m. at Forrest Park Cemetery in Forrest City. Memorials are to be made to the Forrest City Public Library or the charity of one's choice.
Thelma Trammel
Thelma Trammel, age 81, of Marianna, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2000 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City.
Mrs. Trammel was born August, 24, 1918, in Pontotoc, Miss., and was the daughter of William Bouchillion and Tinnie Taylor. She was a homemaker and a member of Church of god of Prophecy.
She is survived by two daughters, Ruby Ripper of Marianna, and Shirley Chaney of Bertrand, Mo.; a son, Bob Trammel of Binghamton, NY; two sisters, Ruby Price of Batesville, Miss, and Pearl Duncan of Rockford, Ill.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today, Tuesday, Jan. 11, at Roller-Citezens Funeral Home in Marianna, from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Jan. 12, at 10 a.m. at Church of God of Prophecy in Marianna with Brother Anthony Pasley and Brother Gary Sims officiating. Burial will be at Marked Tree Cemetery in Poinsette under the direction of Roller-Citizens Funeral Home of Marianna.
Mrs. Conway 'Lillian' Wilson
Mrs. Conway 'Lillian' Wilson, age 87, of Forrest City, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2000, at her home in Forrest City.
Mrs. Wilson was born March 23, 1912, in Nashville, Tenn., and was the daughter of Thomas Hendrix and Ida Mae Hendrix. She lived in Forrest City since 1966, was a member and past president of Musical Coterie, was a member of the Garden Gate Garden Club, was a charter member of Park Hill Presbyterian Church in North Little Rock and a member of the Lakewood Garden Club. She was a homemaker, a piano teacher and a member of the Graham Memorial Presbyterian Church in Forrest City.
She married William Conway Wilson in 1931, and he preceded her in death in 1983.
She is survived by three sons, Tom Wilson of Germantown, Md., Richard Wilson of Hagerstown, Md., and Harry Wilson of Forrest City.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Jan. 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home. Services will Thursday, Jan. 13, at 10 a.m. at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with a graveside service at 1 p.m. at the Edgewood Cemetery in North Little Rock under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home. Memorials are to be made to the Forrest City Library.
Adeline M. Beck
Adeline M. Beck, age 85, of Hughes, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, at her home.
Mrs. Beck was born July 28, 1914, in Lewisburg, Tenn., to Grover Bunyan Markham and Ethel Markham. She lived in Hughes most of her life, was a housewife, a member of Eastern Star and First United Methodist Church in Hughes.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Jo Beck in 1978.
She is survived by a daughter, Carey Goacher of Hughes; two grandchildren and eight step-grandchildren.
Visitation will be tonight, Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2000, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home. Services will be Thursday, Jan. 13, 2000, at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Hughes with Rev. Jack Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at Forrest Park Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
