Ruby Ann Layton
Mrs. Ruby Ann Layton, age 64, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2000, at her home near Marianna.
Mrs. Layton was born Dec. 11, 1935, in Oklahoma, to Leroy Brown and Viola Mae Flaherty Brown. She was a housewife and a member of the Church of God.
She was preceded in death by her mother Viola Brown in 2000, her father, Leroy Brown in 1972, a son, Benjamin Dearing in 1992, and two daughters, Opal Layton in 1967, and Shelia Layton in 1989.
She is survived by three sons, Thomas Layton of Bald Knob, Gary Layton and William Layton both of Marianna; a daughter, Cecilia Browning of McRae; six brothers, Willie Brown of Monroe, Roy Brown of Oklahoma, Lewis Brown of Danville, Johnnie Brown of Houston, Joddie Brown and David Brown both of Marianna; four sisters, Mary Walker and Dorothy Ables both of Marianna, Alice Marshall of Searcy, and Ruth Hollis of Harrisburg; and 12 grandchildren.
Visitation will be held today, Monday, Jan. 31, from 4 to 5 p.m. at Morgan Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Tuesday, Feb. 1, at 10 a.m. at the Church of God in Marianna with Rev. Ken Walls officiating. Burial will follow at Marianna Memorial Park under the direction of Morgan Funeral Home.

James Vincent "Vick" Nelson
James Vincent "Vick" Nelson, age 42, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2000, at his home in Widener.
Mr. Nelson is survived by his birth mother, Shirley Lucas; his foster mother, Marie Nelson of Widener; a sister, Janet Russell of Forrest City; a half-sister, Michelle Douglas of Forrest City; and a brother, Don Nelson of Forrest City.
Services will be held graveside Tuesday, Feb. 1, at 2 p.m. in Crittenden Memorial Park in Marion under the direction of Roller Citizens Funeral Home.

Linda Ruth Davidson
Linda Ruth Davidson, age 56, of Colt, died Monday, January 3, 2000, at her home.
She was born Jan. 5, 1943, in Wynne, to William and Estelle Searcy. She was a district secretary for the Reliable Life Insurance Company and a member of the Village Creek Missionary Baptist Church.
She married Kenneth Davidson in 1965, and he survives her along with three sons, Ken Davidson, Victor Davidson and Kyle Davidson, all of Colt; her mother, Estelle Searcy of Wynne; two sisters, Wanda Johnson of Cherry Valley and Donna McFadden of Blytheville; and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2000, at Steven Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000, at Village Creek MB Church with burial to follow in Loughridge Cemetery. The family asks that memorials be made to the Village Creek MB Church. Stevens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Christopher Michael Russell Jr.
Christopher Michael Russell Jr., one month 12 days, of Hughes, died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000, at his home.
He is survived by his parents, Christopher Michael Russell Sr. and Heather Russell of Hughes; his grandparents, William and Dorothy Bell of Hughes, Jim and Linda Reynolds of West Memphis, Spencer and Kathy Russell of South Carolina, and Ray Hugueley of Hughes; a half sister Peyton Ashton Wise of Hughes; a half brother, John Freeman Chamness of Hughes.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Jan. 5, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in West Memphis. Funeral services will be Thursday, Jan. 6, at 10 a.m. at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home Chapel in West Memphis with burial to follow at Crittenden Memorial Park in Marion, under the direction of Roller-Citizens Funeral Home.

James Ursery
James Ursery, age 64, of Forrest City, died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2000, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Forrest City.
He was born Aug. 19, 1935, in Widener. He was a farmer.
He is survived by his wife, Berthella Ursery of Forrest City; two sons, Herbert Ursery of San Bernadino, Calif., and James Ursery Jr. of Little Rock; a daughter, Barbara Davis of Detroit, Mich.; 10 brothers, T.J. Ursery of Forrest City, Jimmy Ursery and Charlie Ursery, both of Los Angeles, Calif., A.D. Ursery of Detroit, Mich., Leon Ursery of Florida, J.C. Ursery of South Bend, Ind., Willie Ursery, Robert Ursery, Theodis Ursery and Sylvester Ursery, all of St. Louis, Mo.; two sisters, Myrtle Ursery and Margaret Love, both of St. Louis, Mo.; and six grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Clay Funeral Home from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 7, 2000.
Services will be held at Salem Baptist Church on Saturday, Jan. 8, 2000, at 1 p.m. with Rev. Bradley House officiating. Burial will follow in Casteel Cemetery under the direction of Clay Funeral Home.

J.D. French
J. D. French, age 81, died Friday, July 7, 2000.
He was a farmer and owner of the S & K Grill.
He is survived by a son, Keith French, of Little Rock; three daughters, Suzanne Siebert, of Little Rock, Betty Nash, of Clarendon, Mardee Nash, of Brinkley; a step-daughter, Ray Ingle, of Des Arc; three brothers, Norman French and Ray French, both of Salem, Darce French, of Brinkley; three sisters, Amy Amerson, of Pheonix, Ariz., Ella Reeves, of Salem, Vivian Taylor, of Forrest City; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held today, Monday, July 10, 2000, at the Salem United Methodist Church. Burial was in Salem Cemetery under the direction of Bob Neal & Sons Funeral Home.

J. L. Munn
J. L. Munn, age 84, of Colt, died Friday, July 7, 2000, at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City.
Mr. Munn was born Oct. 19, 1915, in Pontiac, Miss., and was the son of Samuel Munn and Myrtle Weatherbee Munn. He lived in the Colt area most of his life, was a retired truck driver and was a member of the House of Prayer.
He married Jesker Hall in 1938 and she preceded him in death in 1953. He married Edna Gilbert Nicholas in 1972 and she survives him along with four sons, Sam Munn, of Forrest City, Bob Munn, of Arizona, Jim Munn, of Chicago, Ill., George Munn, of Colt; three step-sons, Harold Nicholas, of Lexington, Mo., David Nicholas, of Booneville, Miss., Danny Nicholas, of Forrest City; two step-daughters, Sandra Turner, of Grand Prairie, Texas, Phyllis Lindley, of Wynne, 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today, Monday, July 10, 2000, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 11, 2000, at 11 a.m. at Stevens Funeral Home. Burial will be in Hughes Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Fred Daniel Burkholder Sr.
Fred Daniel Burkholder Sr., of Little Rock, died Monday, July 10, 2000.
He is survived by his wife, Felice Bryan Norflect Burkholder, originally of Forrest City.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 12, 2000, at 10 a.m. at the Pulaski Height United Methodist Church in Little Rock, Burial will be Friday, July 14, 2000, in Haggerstown, Md. Memorials can be made to the Little Rock Founder's Club of Lion's Club International, P.O. Box 15, Little Rock, 72203.

James "Jim" Wilks Hale
Mr. James "Jim" Wilks Hale, age 70, of Wynne, died Sunday, July 9, 2000, in his home.
Mr. Hale, born Feb. 25, 1930, was the son of James Allen Hale and Annie Belle Wilks Hale . He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force, had attended Draughon's Business School and was a retired U. S. Postal worker. Mr. Hale was also a member of the Union Avenue Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.
Mr. Hale is survived by his wife, Ann Hale, of Wynne; two sons, John Hale, of Wynne and Tom Hale, of Neosho, Mo.; one daughter, Kathy Killingsworth, of Coloma, Mich.; two sisters, Betty Hale Estes, of West Helena and Pattie Hale Medlin, of Southaven, Miss.; 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister, Fay Hale Barclay.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 11, 2000, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Kernodle Funeral Home in Wynne. Services will be Wednesday, July 12, 2000, at 10 a.m. at Union Avenue Baptist Church in Wynne with Rev. Ray D. Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Cogbill Cemetery under the direction of Kernodle Funeral Home.
The family requests that any memorials be sent to the American Cancer Society, c/o Beverly Burnett, P.O. Box 450, Wynne, AR 72396-0450.

Nora Ann Bledsoe
Nora Ann Bledsoe, age 83, of Augusta, died Tuesday, July 11, 2000, in Augusta.
She was born March 23, 1917, in Heber Springs, to Henry and Vonny Brewer Flowers. She was a member of the Home Demonstration Club, Senior Citizens Club, and a was active in Golden Circle Sunday School Class. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons and a daughter.
She is survived by two sons, Curtis Bledsoe, of Forrest City, Danny Bledsoe, of Lynchburg, Va.; three daughters, Martha Sams, of Elizabethton, Tenn., Glenda Smith, of Augusta, Carey Bledsoe Goacher, of Hughes; four sisters, Vanessie Anderson, of Mountain Home, Vesta McHann, of Fiddletown, Calif., Pearl Erving, of Mississippi, Faye Stockdale, of Missouri, a brother, Raymond Flowers, of Pine Bluff; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, July 14, 2000, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church in Augusta. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 15, at 1 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church in Augusta. Burial will be in Barnishaw Cemetery in Pine Tree under the direction of Roller-Daniel Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Grace Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society.
