Dr. Richard Warren Spelzhaus
Dr. Richard Warren Spelzhaus, age 78, of Forrest City, died Monday, July 24, 2000, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City.
Dr. Spelzhaus was born March 23, 1922, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was the son of Herbert G. Spelzhaus and Helen Fairchild Spelzhaus. He had lived in the Forrest City area for the past 55 years. Dr. Spelzhaus was a retired Chiropractor.
Dr. Spelzhaus was a member and very active in the St. Francis Catholic Church, he was the vice president of the Parish Council, and active in the Men's Club and Prison Ministry. He was also a past president and member of the Kiwanis Club and was active in the County Fair and Rolling Readers. Dr. Spelzhaus was the Arkansas delegate to the International Chiropractic Association and was a member of the State Board of Chiropractic Examiners.
In 1946, Dr. Spelzhaus married Hilda Mendoza and she preceded him in death in 1999. He is survived by one daughter, Helen Spelzhaus Siedell, of Tokyo, Japan; one son, Richard Curt Spelzhaus, of Little Rock; and five grandchildren.
There will be a Vigil Service held Friday, July 28, 2000, at 7 p.m., at Stevens Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Saturday, July 29, 2000, at 10 a.m. at the St. Francis Catholic Church. Father Tom Marks will be officiating and Burial will follow at Mt. Vernon Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be sent to St. Francis Catholic Church or to the Rolling Reader Programs.

Dasie Lee Haggans
Dasie Lee Haggans, age 56, of Forrest City, died Friday, July 21, 2000, at her home.
She was born Aug. 27, 1943 in Forrest City. She was a door greeter at Wal-Mart.
She is survived by her father, Arthur Woodfork, of Colt; a daughter, Mary Stegall, of Wynne; three sons, Jeffery Haggans Jr., of Madison, Melvin Haggans, of Forrest City, Raymond Haggans, of Goodwin; seven brothers, Elzo Woodfork, of Forrest City, Theodore Woodfork, Larry Woodfork and Herman Woodfork, all of Chicago, Ill., Theo Woodfork, of Detroit, Mich., Edward Woodfork Sr., of Colt, Eric Woodfork, of Wynne; three sisters, Louise Goodwin, of Chicago, Ill., Emma Jean Bell, of Pontiac, Mich., Denise Buford, of Little Rock; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be Friday, July 28, 2000, from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Clay Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 29, 2000, at 12 p.m. at United Christian M. B. Church with Rev. Marland Brown officiating. Burial will be in Casteel Cemetery under the direction of Clay Funeral Home.

Hazel Hunt
Hazel Hunt, age 75, of Forrest City, died Friday, July 21, 2000, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City.
Mrs. Hunt was born April 2, 1925, in Forrest City.
She is survived by a son, Steve Hunt, of Memphis; and two grandchildren. Visitation will be Friday, July 28, 2000, from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Woodhouse Mortuary Chapel and Saturday, July 29, 2000, at Salem M.B. Church from 12 to 1 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 29, 2000, with elder M.T. Dedner officiating. Burial will follow in Forrest City Cemetery under the direction of Woodhouse Mortuary.

Ernest Franklin Snider
Ernest Franklin Snider, age 87, of Martinsville, Ind., died Wednesday, July 26, 2000, at the Morgan County Hospital in Martinsville, Ind.
Mr. Snider was born Oct. 26, 1912, in New Albany, Miss., to Thomas Snider and Carrie Duncan Snider. He was a farmer.
He is survived by his wife, Erna Marie Snider, of Martinsville, Ind.; a son, Frank Snider, of Oak Creek, Wis.; a daughter, Katherine Bridges, of Caldwell; three sisters, Birdimae Speck, Jamie Farley and Louise Kent, all of New Albany, Miss.; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Saturday, July 29, 2000, from 12 to 2 p.m. at Costin Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 29, 2000, at 2 p.m. at Costin Funeral Chapel with Rev. Skip Roten II officiating. Burial will be in Nebo Memorial Park Cemetery in Martinsville, Ind., under the direction of Costin Funeral Chapel.

Zachary Dwayne Swan
Zachary Dwayne Swan, five days old, died Thursday, July 27, 2000.
He is survived by his parents, Timothy and Kameron Findley Swan; maternal grandparents, Sandy and Steve Preas, of Atlanta, Ga., Phyllis and Richard Findley, of Forrest City; paternal grandparents, Patsy Lilies and James Kennedy, of Hughes; maternal great-grandparents, Mark and Maylene Findley, of Forrest City.
Funeral services will be graveside, Saturday, July 29, 2000, at 3 p.m. at Forrest Park Cemetery with the Rev. Leon Wilson officiating. Stevens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Ola B. Wilson
Ola B. Wilson, 94, of Wynne, died Thursday, July 27, 2000, at the Wynwood Nursing Home in Wynne.
Mrs. Wilson was born Oct. 19, 1905, to Alex McCarter and Eva Brown McCarter. She lived in Wynne the last 60 years and was a member of the Union Avenue Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband W. N. Wilson; a son, Gene Wilson; a daughter, Mackree Jordan; and two grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons, Gerald "Big Boy" Wilson, of Forrest City, Newton L. Wilson, of Wynne; four daughters, Vivian Milton, of Acompo, Calif., Vee McFadden, of Lowell, Opal Farris, of Petal, Miss., Dorothy Searcy, of Wynne; 23 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and 34 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, July 28, 2000, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Kernodle Funeral Home in Wynne. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 29, 2000, at 2 p.m. at Kernodle Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Tallant and Rev. Dennie Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Vanndale Cemetery in Vanndale under the direction of Kernodle Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

H. Woody Clark
H. Woody Clark, age 65, of Forrest City, died Saturday, July 1, 2000, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City.
Mr. Clark was born Aug. 1, 1934, in Clark's Corner, to Hubert Lee Clark and Vera Sulcer Clark. He lived in the Forrest City area all of his life, was a heavy machine operator and a member of the First Baptist Church. Mr. Clark was also a member of the Jaycees, Shriners, Lions and was an Arkansas Legislator from 1968 to 1976.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eunita Reed Clark in 1991 and a son, Mike Clark in 1997.
He married Kathy Lofton in 1993 and she survives him along with a daughter, Sheryl Smith, of Forrest City; a stepson, Justin Johnson, of Forrest City; a brother, Dr. C.C. Privette, of Tupelo, Miss.; a sister, Lois LaBarre, of Sun City, Fla.; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services were held today, Monday, July 3, 2000, at Stevens Funeral Home with Rev. William Witcher officiating. Burial was in Forrest Park Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home. Memorials may be sent to the American Heart Association.

Ruby Pearl Miller
Ruby Pearl Miller, age 66, of Newcastle, died Friday, June 30, 2000, in her home.
Mrs. Miller was born Oct. 17, 1933, in St. Francis County and was the daughter of Jim Smith and Toker Matlock Smith. She lived in St. Francis County most of her life, was a retired beautician and was a Baptist.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hooper Miller in 1991.
She is survived by a brother, Carl Smith, of Forrest City; and a sister, Gracie Woods, of Newcastle.
Funeral services were held Sunday, July 2, 2000, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Loughridge Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the New Prospect Baptist Church.

Pearl Griggs
Pearl Griggs, of Forrest City, died Thursday, June 29, 2000, at Baptist Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Griggs was a homemaker and a member of Rising Sun Mass Choir.
She is survived by a daughter, Althema Griggs, of Forrest City; a son, Reuben Griggs, of Forrest City; two sisters, M. I. Coleman, of Chicago, Ill., Edna Fryer, of Omaha, Neb.; and a brother, Rev. James Anderson, of Omaha, Neb.
Visitation will be Friday, July 7, 2000, at Kennedy Chapel. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 8, 2000, at Rising Sun M.B. Church with Rev. John Strong and Rev. James Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Clay Hill Cemetery in Haynes under the direction of Kennedy Funeral Home.

Dorothy Johnson
Dorothy Johnson, age 89, of Forrest City, died Saturday, July 1, 2000, at Crestpark Nursing Home.
She was a domestic and member of New Light M.B. Church.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Lela Phillips, in 1999.
She is survived by a daughter in-law, Alice Triggs, of Forrest City.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 6, 2000, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Funeral services will be Friday, July 7, 2000, at 11 a.m. at New Light M.B. Church with Rev. Jesse McClure officiating. Burial will be in Forrest City Cemetery under the direction of Kennedy Funeral Home.
