Leona Mae Padgett
Leona Mae Padgett, age 79, of Heth, died Tuesday, July 4, 2000, at Baptist Central Hospital in Memphis.
Mrs. Padgett was born Jan. 1, 1921, in Clarendon to Henry and Gertie Yates. She lived in St. Francis County most of her life, was a housewife and a member of the Widener Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by a son, George William Padgett in 1983.
She married Louis Padgett in 1940 and he survives him along with two sons, Robert Padgett, of Marion, Delbert Padgett, of Heth; a daughter, Mary Lee Turner, of Heth; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today, Wednesday, July 5, 2000, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Thursday, July 6, 2000, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Forrest Park Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
Morris Griffin Clay
Morris Griffin Clay, age 72, of Forrest City, died Wednesday, July 5, 2000, in Methodist Hospital central in Memphis.
Mr. Clay was a retired farmer and a member of Barton's Chapel Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Annie Mae Clay, of Salem; a daughter, Linda Cassidy, of Salem; a son, Harold Clay, of Forrest City; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 6, 2000, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Friday, July 7, 2000, in Roller-Citizens Chapel at 3 p.m. with burial to follow in Crittenden Memorial Park in Marion. Roller-Citizens Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Reginald Lee Hancock
Reginald Lee Hancock, age 38, of Colt, died Tuesday, July 4, 2000, at the St. Francis Hospital in Memphis.
Mr. Hancock was born July 30, 1961, in Forrest City to Joy Lee Hancock and Christine Gray Hancock.
He was preceded in death by a son, Reginald L. Hancock Jr. and a brother, Joy Lee Hancock.
He is survived by his parents; three sisters, Marily Williams, Joyce Hancock, both of Garland, Texas, Carol Williams, of Forrest City; four brothers, Gerald Tyler, of Rockford, Ill., Fred Hancock, Andre Hancock, both of Forrest City, and Deshmund Hancock, of Wynne.
Visitation will be Friday, July 7, 2000, at Woodhouse Mortuary from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 8, 2000, at noon at Mt. Moriah Church with Rev. Connie Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Clark Cemetery under the direction of Woodhouse Mortuary.
Robert Milton Buffalo
Robert Milton Buffalo, age 84, of Carlisle, died Sunday, June 11, 2000.
Mr. Buffalo was a retired farmer, an Air Force Veteran of World War II and a member of the First Baptist Church in Carlisle.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Georgia Lee.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Buffalo; two sons, Robert Buffalo and Richard Buffalo, both of Carlisle; a daughter, Janice Gooch, of Forrest City; a sister, Emigene Childers of St. Simon Island, Ga., seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at the home on Tuesday, June 13, 2000, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 14, 2000, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Carlisle with Brother John Guerra officiating. Burial will be in the Carlisle Cemetery under the direction of Westbrook Funeral Home.
Lucille M. Gosler
Lucille M. Gosler, age 86, of Pinconning, Mich., formerly of Forrest City, died Thursday, June 8, 2000, in her home.
Mrs. Gosler was born, Dec. 30, 1913, in Bay City, Mich., to Edmund DuFresne and Ella Gerard DuFresne. She was an armed services facilitator for the American Red Cross, before retiring in 1978, and attended St. Michael's Church in Pinconning. She was married to Gilroy J. Gosler who preceded her in death in 1984. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Sheryl Gosler; a sister, Madeline Emerson; and a brother, Robert DuFresne.
She is survived by one son, David Gosler of Pinconning, Mich.; one daughter, Linda Keefer, of Sea Ranch, Calif.; three brothers, Gerard DuFresne, of Kawkawlin, Mich., Joseph DuFresne, of Bay City, Mich. and Vincent DuFresne, of Kawkawlin, Mich.; one sister, Rosemary Rytlewski, of Kawkawlin, Mich.; and four grandsons.
Funeral services for Mrs. DuFresne were held today, Monday, June 12, 2000, at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of W. A. Trahan Funeral Home in Bay City, Mich., with Rev. Ramon Matuszewski presiding. Burial followed in St. Patrick Cemetery in Bay City.
James Ernest Kimble
James Ernest Kimble, age 75, died Sunday, June 11, 2000, at the Crittenden Memorial Hospital in West Memphis.
Mr. Kimble was born Dec. 7, 1924, in Jefferson City, Mo., to Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Kimble. He lived in Forrest City most of his life.
He is survived by a daughter, Barbara Martin, of Southaven, Miss.; a son, Dolan Kimble, of Depue, Ill.; a sister, Ernestine Long, of West Memphis; a brother, Johnny Kimble, of Forrest City; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today, Monday, June 12, 2000, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel from 6 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 13, 2000, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Forrest Park Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
Mary Lorie Watlington Walker
Mrs. Mary Lorie Watlington Cummings Walker, age 84, of Wynne, died Friday, June 9, 2000, in her home.
Mrs. Walker, born Jan. 29, 1916, in Colt, was the daughter of Robert Lee Watlington and Mary Brooks Watlington. She was a lifelong resident of the Colt and Pinetree area before moving to Cross County. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
On March 22, 1994, Mrs. Walker married Ernest Walker, who survives her. She is also survived by one son, Arvin L. Cummings, of Colt; three daughters, Pauline Cummings, of McCrory, Agnes Straub, of Booneville, and Shirley Head of Wynne; five brothers, Claude Watlington, Herbert Watlington, Dallas Watlington and Thomas Watlington, all of Colt, and Herman Watlington, of West Memphis; five sisters, Ruth Evans and Beulah Smith, both of Wenatchee, Wash., Mattie Bell Baskins, of West Memphis, Annette Bowman, of Bald Knob, and Helen Collins, of Wynne; 19 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Walker were held Sunday, June 11, 2000, in the Chapel of Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home in Wynne with Rev. David Yates of the Pine Tree Baptist Church officiating. Burial followed in Smith Chapel Cemetery, near Wynne, under the direction of Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home.
George W. "Buddy" Sisk Sr.
George W. "Buddy" Sisk Sr., age 78, of Forrest City died Thursday, June 8, 2000, in his home.
Mr. Sisk retired as a foreman after 44-years with the Forrest City Sanitation Department. He was also a deacon and trustee with the Union Grove M.B. Church.
Mr. Sisk is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Sisk, of Forrest City; five daughters, Beatrice Dorris, of Cincinnati, Ohio, Glenda McKissik, of Forrest City, Mildred Thomas and Georgia Ball, both of Dallas, Texas, and Virginia Sisk, of Atlanta, Ga.; four sons, George Sisk Jr., of Forrest City, Henry Sisk, Arrell Simmons, and Warren Sisk, all of Cincinnati, Ohio; one sister, Rosie Woodard, of St. Louis, Mo.; 36 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Mr. Sisk will be Wednesday, June 14, 2000, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Kennedy Funeral Home and Thursday, June 15, from noon until 2 p.m. at New Light M.B. Church. Services will be held Thursday, June 15, 2000, at 2 p.m. at New Light M.B. Church with Rev. Jessie McClure and Rev. Justice Doyle officiating. Burial will follow in Forrest City Cemetery under the direction of Kennedy Funeral Home.
Ruth C. McBride
Ruth C. McBride, age 81, of Hughes, died Wednesday, June 14, 2000, at Crittenden Memorial Hospital in West Memphis.
Mrs. McBride was a retired bookkeeper for Arkansas Power and Light and a member of First Baptist Church of Hughes.
She was preceded in death by her husband, R. J. "Dan" McBride.
She is survived by two daughters, Ruth Calloway, of Birmingham, Ala., and Barbara McGinnis, of West Memphis; a sister, Mrs. Paul France, of West Memphis; a brother A.L. Madden, of Searcy; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, June 16, 2000, from 6 - 8 p.m. in the Chapel of Roller Citizens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 17, 2000, at 1:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Hughes. Burial will be in Crittenden Memorial Park in Marion under the direction of Roller Citizens Funeral Home. Memorials can be made to First Baptist Church of Hughes.
Bobby Leroy Ward
Bobby Leroy Ward, age 36, of Lonoke, died Friday, June 16, 2000.
Ward was born, April 16, 1964, to Leroy and Hazel Thrasher Ward. He was medically retired from Farmland Industries and was an active member of Oakdale M.B. Church where he served as assistant treasurer.
He was preceded in death by his mother, and is survived by his wife, Susie Linder Ward, of Lonoke; his parents, Leroy and Pauline Ward, of Forrest City; his sister Rebecca Houston, of Forrest City; two step-brothers, Billy Isringhouse, of McKinney, Texas, and Joel Isringhouse, of Forrest City; a step-sister, Amber Medina, of Dallas, Texas; and his step-grandfather, Jack Sorrells, of Marianna.
Funeral services for Mr. Ward will be Sunday, June 18, 2000, in the Chapel of Westbrook Funeral Home in Beebe. Brother Kevin Petrus and Brother Gary Malone will officiate. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery under the direction of Westbrook Funeral Home. Visitation will be Saturday, June 17, 2000, from 6 - 8 p.m. in the Chapel of Westbrook Funeral Home.
