Learlean Joshaway
Mrs. Learlean Joshaway, age 68, of Hughes, died Thursday, June 1, 2000, at her home.
Mrs. Joshaway is survived by seven sons, Rev. Robert Joshaway, David Joshaway Jr., Willie F. Joshaway, Rickey Joshaway and Jerry Lee Joshaway, all of Hughes, Andrew Lee Joshaway, of Dyersburg, Tenn. and Edward Lee Joshaway, of Helena; one daughter, Rosie Mae Lowe, of Dyersburg, Tenn.; two sisters, Louise Hall, of Memphis and Scenda Robinson, of West Memphis; one brother, Robert Johnson, of East St. Louis, Ill.; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services for Mrs. Joshaway will be Saturday, June 10, 2000, at 2 p.m. at the Locust Grove M.B. Church in Hughes with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, June 9, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home Chapel in Anthonyville. Anthony Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Ella Kathryn Poe
Ella Kathryn Poe, age 86, of Forrest City, died Tuesday, June 6, 2000, in Carlisle.
Mrs. Poe was born June 29, 1913, in Palestine to Charlie Lee Parker and Effie Morris Parker. She was a lifelong resident of St. Francis County, a housewife and a member of the Palestine Church of Christ. On March 30, 1936, she married John Henry Poe. Mr. Poe preceded her in death in 1967. She was also preceded in death by a son, Alan Poe.
Mrs. Poe is survived by two sons, Dale Poe and John H. "Johnny" Poe Jr., of Palestine; one daughter, Linda Smith, of Carlisle; three sisters, Fronia Mae Gunn, of West Helena, Eva Lou Stanley, of Texas, and Vernal Lee, of Palestine; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Poe will be Friday, June 9, 2000, at 11 a.m. at the Palestine Church of Christ with Minister Alan Underwood officiating. Burial will follow in Bell Cemetery in Palestine under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home. Visitation will be tonight, Thursday, June 8, 2000, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Chapel of Stevens Funeral Home. Memorials can be made to the Palestine Church of Christ.
Shellie Smith
Shellie Smith, age 98, died Wednesday, May 31, 2000, in her home.
She was a housewife and a member of Hempshire M. B. Church.
She is survived by three daughters, Artra Mansfield, of Aubrey, Virginia Hobbs, of Boston, Mass., Annie Wade, of St. Louis, Mo.; two sons, James Smith, of St. Louis, Mo., Jessie Paul Smith, of Chicago, Ill.; 46 grandchildren, 86 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, June 9, 2000, at Kennedy Funeral Home from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 10, 2000, at 1 p.m. at Hempshire M.B. Church in Aubrey with Rev. L. Easter officiating. Burial will be in Hempshire Cemetery under the direction of Kennedy Funeral Home.
Ruthie Ware
Ruthie Ware, of Hughes, age 71, died Friday, June 2, 2000, in her home.
Mrs. Ware is survived by five daughters, Ollie Futrell, of Dallas, Texas, Patricia Doolittle, of Sherwood, Lisa Jenkins, of Heth, and Verdie Ware and Dorothy Ware, both of Hughes; eight sons, Jessie Gilmore Jr., Roy L. Ware, Michael Ware, Henry L. Ware, and Eugene Ware, all of Dallas Texas, Carl Ware, of Hughes, Uless Ware of Belleglade, Fla., and Ellis Ware, of Chicago, Ill.; two sisters, Modesser Cooper, of West Memphis and Ruby Dallas, of Marietta, Ga.; three brothers, Charlie Lowe, of Hughes, William Lowe and Horace Lowe, both of Chicago, Ill.; 23 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Ware will be Saturday, June 10, 2000, at 11 a.m. at Rising Sun M.B. Church in Hughes with burial in Paradise Gardens under the direction of Anthony Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday, June 9, 2000, from 6 - 8 p.m. at Anthony Funeral Home in Anthonyville.
Lewis D. Jones
Lewis D. Jones, age 33, of Forrest City, died Sunday, June 4, 2000, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City.
Mr. Jones was born Jan. 22, 1967, to L.D. Phillips and Georgia Jones. He was a 1985 graduate of Forrest City High School, he attended Westark Community College in Fort Smith and attended Arkansas and Central Missouri State in Kansas City, MO. He was employed by the Forrest City Police Department.
He is survived by his mother and father, a daughter, Essica Shiketa Walker, of Jacksonville; a son, Christopher Jamal Kirkwood, of Chicago, Ill.; six sisters, Georgia Jones, Shirley Haggins, Sandra Willins, Izola Jones, Benita Hunt, Carmalita Owens, all of Forrest City, Marilyn Harris, of Champaign, Ill.; three brothers, Andrew Jones, Calvin Chism, both of Forrest City, and Stanley Jones, of Memphis, Tenn.
Funeral services will be Saturday, June 10, 2000, at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Forrest Park Cemetery under the direction of Marianna Funeral Home.
E.F. Boudra
Mr. E.F. Boudra, age 75, of Forrest City, formerly of Morrilton, died Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000.
He was born April 4, 1924, in Solgohachia, Ark. to George and Ruby Kellogg Boudra. He was a World War II Navy veteran, a retired custodian for the South Conway County School District and a member of Lindauer Road Church of Christ in Forrest City.
He is survived by his wife, Jerrell Boudra, of Forrest City; a son, Ronald Boudra, of Houston, Texas; two daughters, Dianne Birdwell and Pam Boudra, both of Forrest City; three sisters, Pauline Boozier and Ruth Orrick, both of Conway and Nona Ehrenberg, of Charlotte, N.C.; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be today, Wednesday, March 1, 2000, from 6 to 7 p.m., at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 2, 2000, at 2 p.m. at Harris Funeral Home Chapel with Joe Arnold officiating. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery under the direction of Harris Funeral Home.
Billy Wayne "Giggs" Wallace
Mr. Billy Wayne "Giggs" Wallace, age 58, of Widener, died Wednesday, March 1, 2000, at his home.
Mr. Wallace was born Jan. 12, 1942, to William Newton and Sarah Lou Brimhall Wallace. He lived most of his life in the Forrest City area.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Edith Culver; and four brothers, William Aubrey, Rudolph Wallace, Troy Wallace and Freddy Wallace.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Faye Wallace of Widener; a daughter, LaDonna Thornton of Widener; a son, Shannon Wallace of Forrest City; eight sisters, Betty White, Dottie Hatcher, Patsy Nichols, all of Forrest City, Bonnie Wilkinson and Connie Buchanan, both of Kuttawa, Ky., Jeannie Moore of Lake Cormorant, Miss., Debra Snow of Kingsport, Tenn., and Kitty Haugen of Green Bay, Wis.; three brothers, Calvin Wallace of Forrest City, D.D. Wallace of Murray, Ky., and Woody Wallace of San Jose, Calif.; and two grandsons.
Visitation will be Thursday evening, March 2, 2000, at Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Friday, March 3, 2000, at 2 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Brother J.D. Webb assisted by Brother Mark Mercer officiating. Burial will be in Loughridge Cemetery in Summersweet area under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
Giles Aubrey Fleming
Mr. Giles Aubrey Fleming, age 79, of Forrest City, died Wednesday, March 8, 2000, in Conway.
Mr. Fleming was born May 3, 1920 in the Good Hope Community. He was the son of Dan Fleming and Mittie Bell Giles Fleming. He was a veteran of World War II, a retired salesman for the Orgill Brothers Company and a member of First Baptist Church.
Mr. Fleming married Mary Kathryn Singer in 1940 and she survives him along with two sons; Larry Fleming of Roswell, Ga., Phil Fleming of McKinney, Texas, one daughter; Gail Mitchell of Conway, one sister; Juanita Shepard of Tumbling Shoals, five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation for Mr. Fleming will be Friday evening, March 10, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home. Services will be held at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, Saturday, March 11, at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in Forrest Park Cemetery. Stevens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Jeannette Eldora Drury
Jeannette Eldora Drury, age 84, of Stoutsville, Ohio, died Thursday March 9, 2000, at Berger Hospital in Circleville, Ohio.
She is survived by two sons, Winfred G. "Bud" Drury of Forrest City, and William Drury of Groveport, Ohio; one daughter, Mary Jean Rhoten, of Stoutsville, Ohio; eight grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Monday, March 13, 2000, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Wellman's Funeral Home in Circleville, Ohio. Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 14, 2000, at 11 a.m. at Wellman's Funeral Home.
Robert Lamar Smalley
Mr. Robert Lamar Smalley, age 84, of Caldwell, died Saturday, March 11, 2000, at his home in Caldwell.
Mr. Smalley was born Oct. 30, 1915, in Grand Junction, Tenn. He was the son of Robert Lee Smalley and Minnie Iva Keller Smalley. Mr. Smalley was a retired farmer and barber, a member of the American Legion, the V.F.W., the Happy Dayers, the Caldwell Seniors and was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was the mayor of Caldwell for eight years, was a veteran of World War II and was the recipient of the World War II Bronze Star.
Mr. Smalley married Doreen Rowe in 1944, and she survives him along with two sons, Robert Lyndon Smalley of Alpena, David Lamar Smalley of Cordova, Tenn.; and four grandchildren.
Services for Mr. Smalley were held at the First Baptist Church on Monday, March 13, 2000, at 2 p.m. with burial following in Forrest Park Cemetery. Stevens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Paul McKinley Dildine
Mr. Paul McKinley Dildine, age 78, of Wynne, died Friday, March 10, 2000, at Cross Ridge Community Hospital in Wynne. Mr. Dildine was born January 7, 1922, in Savannah, Tenn., and was the son of William McKinley Dildine and Lettie Irene Allison Dildine. Mr. Dildine was a retired mechanic, a Mason, a member of the Rensellear Vann Lodge #494 and a member of the Valley View Baptist Church in Wynne.
Mr. Dildine was preceded in death by his first wife, Juanita Quinn Dildine and his second wife, Laverne Hathcock Dildine.
He is survived by one brother, Carl Dildine of Wynne and one sister, Blanch Dildine Smith of Memphis, Tenn.
Services for Mr. Dildine were held Saturday, March 11, 2000 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Kernodle Funeral Home of Wynne. Burial followed in Forrest Park Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Peeler officiating. Kernodle Funeral Home of Wynne was in charge of arrangements.
