Richard Lee Holmes
Richard Lee Holmes, age 63, of Montgomery, Ala., died Monday, May 2, 2000, at his home.
He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline F. Holmes of Montgomery, formerly of Forrest City; his mother, Alfred Holmes of Mobile, Ala.; two daughters, Ashton Holmes and Lee Holmes, both of Montgomery; and one brother, Alfred Holmes of Mobile.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 4, 2000, from 5-7 p.m. at the Holmes family residence. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 5, 2000, at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church with Dr. Karl Stegall officiating with burial following in Alabama Heritage Cemetery under the direction of Alabama Heritage Funeral Home.

George M. Parker
George M. Parker, age 72, of Palestine, died Wednesday, May 3, 2000, at the Crittenden Memorial Hospital in West Memphis.
He was born July 17, 1927, in Palestine and was the son of Leon Parker and Lou Nettie Morris Parker. He lived in Palestine most all of his life, was a farmer and a member of the Palestine Church of Christ.
He married Willie Jean Gore in 1948, and she survives him along with one son, Chris Don Parker of Palestine; one daughter, Lynn Allison Smith of Columbia, Tenn.; one brother, Jack Parker of Palestine; one sister, Decima Halbert of Palestine and one grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 5, 2000, at 2 p.m. at the Palestine Church of Christ with burial to follow in Bell Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home. Visitation will be held tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home in Forrest City. Memorials may be made to the Palestine Church of Christ.
Fred Allen Sr.
Fred Allen Sr., age 73, of Widener, died Tuesday, May 2, 2000, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City.
He was a retired farmer and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Trudy Allen in 1997.
He is survived by ten daughters, Annie Allen, Helen Allen and Sharon Allen, all of Forrest City, Della Allen, Patricia Velma, Olivia Rucker, Sandra Allen, Tyronda Allen and Martha Allen, all of Widener, and Freddie Mae Bibbs of Batesville, Miss.; four sons, Fred Allen Jr. of Widener, James Smith of Heth, Curtis Allen of Forrest City and Ardell Allen of Kingsport, Tenn.; two sisters, Alice Allen and Martha Wiggins, both of Memphis; 54 grandchildren and 45 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Saturday, May 6, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at J.E. Kennedy Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 7, at 1 p.m. at Widener Community Church with Rev. Elbert Carr officiating. Burial will follow in New Home Cemetery in Widener under the direction of J.E. Kennedy Funeral Home.
Velma Everett
Velma Everett, age 70, of Forrest City, died Tuesday, May 2, 2000, at Baptist Memorial Hospital.
She was born August 23, 1929, in Madison. She was a housekeeper.
She is survived by her husband, Louis Everett of Forrest City; one son, Michael Wyse of Forrest City; two daughters, Debra Jones of Forrest City and Virginia Williams of Memphis; one brother, Eddie McMillan of Davenport, Iowa; and one sister, Bulah Mae Wyse of Toledo, Ohio.
Visitation will be Saturday, May 6, from 10 a.m. until 12 noon at Clay Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 7, 2000, at 2 p.m. at Days Temple Church of God in Christ with Elder John Henry Jennings officiating. Burial will follow in Forrest City Cemetery under the direction of Clay Funeral Home.
John (Big John) Kimmons
John (Big John) Kimmons, age 46, of Forrest City, died Friday, April 28, 2000.
He was born in September 1953, in Mississippi. He was a landscaper and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He is survived by many relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 5, from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. at J.F. Brittenum & Son Funeral Home in Holly Springs,Miss. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 6, at noon at Powell Chapel M.B. Church, Hwy 4 East, near Holly Springs. Burial will follow in Macedonia C.M.E. Church Cemetery in Ashland, Miss.
Bertha Owens
Bertha Owens, age 64, of Forrest City, died Tuesday, May 2, 2000, at her home.
She was born Oct. 9, 1935, in Heth. She was a retired analyzer for Sanyo.
She is survived by two sons, Kendall Owens of Forrest City and Clifton Cain of St. Louis, Mo.; eight brothers, Prentiss Owens of Del Ray, Fla., Lawrence N. Owens of North Little Rock, George A. Owens of Bunnell, Fla., Silvester M. Owens of Memphis, Robert A. Owens of Lansing, Mich., Ellis R. Owens of Heth, Freddie F. Owens of Boynton Beach, Fla., and Carey L. Owens of Little Rock; four sisters, Bernice Turner of Chicago, Ill., Dorethia Carter, Betty B. Phillips and Catherine E. Owens all of Decatur, Ga.; and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 5, 2000, from 10:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. at Clay Funeral Home and also Saturday, May 6, 2000, from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Salem Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at Salem Baptist Church on Saturday, May 6, 2000, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Felix Duckworth officiating. Rosa Wolfe
Rosa Wolfe, age 77, of Forrest City, died Tuesday, May 2, 2000, at Crestpark Retirement Inn in Forrest City.
She is survived by two daughters, Aretha Doby and Connie Usery, both of Forrest City; two sisters, Alberta Huntley of Forrest City and Katie Gupton of Detroit, Mich.; two step-daughters, Cleopatra Gilcreast of West Helena and Helen Neely of Milwaukee, Wis.; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 6, 2000, at 11 a.m. at the Rising Sun Baptist Church in Forrest City with pastor John Strong officiating. Burial will follow in Casteel Cemetery under the direction of Marianna Funeral Home.
Myrtle Mathews
Myrtle Mathews, age 91, died Tuesday, May 9, 2000, at Crestpark Retirement Inn.
She was born April 11, 1909, in Gill to Albert Shafer and Tommie Cox Shafer. She lived in Palestine all her life, was a housewife and a member of Walls Chapel.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Mathews in 1976, and a son, Terrell Mathews in 1989.
She is survived by two daughters, Ruby Hill, of Nesbit, Miss., Marlene Colvin, of Italy, Texas; two sons, Oscar Mathews and Jerry Mathews, both of Palestine; 15 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 10, 2000, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, May 11, 2000, at 10 a.m. at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Gary Malone officiating. Burial will be in Mars Hill Cemetery, in Palestine, under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
Allen McNutt
Allen McNutt, age 91, of Forrest City, died Thursday, May 4, 2000, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City.
He was born April 4, 1909, in Poplar Creek, Miss., to Willie and Sarah McNutt. He was a retired farmer.
He is survived by three sons, Henry McNutt and Willie McNutt, both of Forrest City, Allen McNutt Jr., of Little Rock; three daughters, Rosie Eatmon, of Mansfield, Ohio, Lozean Reed, of Jamacia, N.Y., Martha Holmes, of Columbus, Ohio; a brother, Eddie McNutt, of Champaigne, Ill.; a sister, Lola Stidum, of San Diego, Calif.; 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today, Tuesday, May 9, 2000, from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Clay Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 10, 2000, at 2 p.m. at Prosperity M.B. Church with Rev. Uzziah Duncan officiating. Burial will be in Casteel Cemetery under the direction of Clay Funeral Home.
Mary Louise Cox
Mary Louise Cox, age 87, of Heth, died Monday, Oct. 30, 2000, in Marion.
Mrs. Cox was a home maker and a Baptist.
She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Cox Meiers, of West Helena; four sons, Raymond Cox, William Cox, James Cox, all of Heth, Paul Cox of, Springfield, Mo.; 16 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Cox were Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2000, at 2 p.m., in Roller-Citizens Funeral Home, West Memphis. Burial will follow in Crittenden Memorial Park Cemetery in Marion. Roller Citizens Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
