Frances Neal Deason
Mrs. Frances Neal Deason, age 60, of Wynne, died Sunday, April 1, 2001, at her home in Wynne.
Mrs. Deason was born April 17, 1940, in Cross County. She was the daughter of the late John and Viola Holt Neal. She attended school in Wynne and was a 1959 graduate of Wynne High School. She was a homemaker and a lifelong resident of Wynne and Cross County and she was a Baptist.
She married Burnis Deason in 1962 and he survives her along with one brother, George Neal of Colt and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Deason were held today, Tuesday, April 3, 2001, at Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home in Wynne with Rev. Arthur Kennedy officiating. Burial followed in the Barnishaw Cemetery at Pine Tree with Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Fannie Woodard
Ms. Fannie Woodard, age 69, of Forrest City, died Friday, March 30, 2001, at Crittenden Memorial Hospital in West Memphis.
Ms. Woodard is survived by two daughters, Darlene Bradley and Arlene Woodard, both of Forrest City; two sons, Sammy Woodard and Bobby Woodard, both of Forrest City; seven sisters, Catherine Simmons of Jackson, Miss., Lola Bell Powell of Cleveland, Ohio, Mary Alice Goodman of St. Louis, Mo., Lucy Crawford of Shell Lake, Charlsie Woodard of Forrest City, Ruthie Mae Bowman of Little Rock and Annie Bobo of Heth; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Ms. Woodard will be Friday, April 6, 2001, from 10 a.m. to noon at Union Grove M.B. Church with the funeral following at noon. Burial will follow in Paradise Garden Cemetery in Edmondson under the direction of Anthony Funeral Home of West Memphis.

Corinne Hurt Bledsoe
Mrs. Corinne Hurt Bledsoe, age 73 of Forrest City, died Saturday, April 28, 2001, in Memphis.
Mrs. Bledsoe was born Aug. 11, 1928, in Palestine to William Isham and Kate Harris Isham. She lived in Forrest City area all of her life and was retired from South Western Bell. Mrs. Bledsoe was a member of the First United Methodist Church and was past president of the Business and Professional Women's Organization.
She is survived by her husband, Luther W. Bledsoe and two sisters, Marguerite Frost of North Little Rock and Marie Mattioli of Kennesaw, Ga. Mrs. Bledsoe was preceded in death by a son, Perry, Bledsoe in 1971.
Visitation for Mrs. Bledsoe will be Monday, April 30, 2001, at 6:30 p.m., at Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 1, 2001, at 11 a.m., at Stevens Funeral Home with Rev. Rex Darling officiating. Burial will follow in Forrest Park Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Alice Evelene Thompson
Mrs. Alice Evelene Thompson, age 67, of Widener, died Wednesday, April 25, 2001 at her home.
Mrs. Thompson was born Aug. 19, 1933 in Round Pond. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Thompson is survived by seven sons, Willie Lee Thompson of Whitmore, Tommy Thompson and Walter Lee Thompson of St. Louis, Mo., Louis Thompson of Madison, Freddie James Thompson of Webster, Texas, Stanley Morgan Thompson of Widener and Patrick Lamaris Thompson of Jonesboro; six daughters, Dorothy Rucker and Erma Wonsley, both of St. Louis, Mo., Patricia Brown, Lucynthia Johnson and Sharann Hill, all of Jonesboro and Janet Davis of Widener; four brothers, Samuel Byers of New Haven, Conn., Johnny Byers of Florida; Allen Byers and Anderson Byers, both of Forrest City; two sisters, Ora Lee Cross of Cleveland, Ohio and Louise Simms of Sacremento, Calif.; 41 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services for Mrs. Thompson will be Tuesday, May 1, 2001, at noon, at Riverside Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Latham officiating. Burial will follow in Paradise Garden Cemetery under the direction of Clay Funeral Home.

Johnnie Mae Wilson
Mrs. Johnnie Mae Wilson, age 86, of Colt, died Friday, April 27, 2001, at her home.
Mrs. Wilson was born Sept. 22, 1914 in Widener. She was a retired seamstress.
Mrs. Wilson is survived by a brother, Chester Bryant, Jr., of Palestine and two sisters, Ottie Mae Roberts of Dallas, Texas and Dollie Mae Bryant of Forrest City.
Visitation for Mrs. Wilson will be Tuesday, May 1, 2001, from 3 to 5 p.m., at Clay Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 2, 2001, at 11 a.m., at Pine Tree Church of God in Christ with the Elder Verlee Lucas officiating. Burial will follow in Paradise Garden Cemetery under the direction of Clay Funeral Home.

Cleora Neal
Mrs. Cleora Neal, age 63, of Forrest City, died Friday, March 30, 2001, at Crestpark Retirement Inn of Forrest City.
Mrs. Neal was born Jan. 29, 1938, in West Memphis. She was a retired laborer.
Mrs. Neal is survived by her husband, Woodrow Neal of Forrest City; two sons, Cleophia Neal of Minneapolis, Minn. and Woodrow Neal Jr. of Forrest City; two daughters, Gwen Gates of Little Rock and Betty Beasley of Palestine; two brothers, Curtis Varnado and Lucious Varnado, both of Minneapolis, Minn.; a sister, Joan Williams of Little Rock; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Mrs. Neal will be Thursday, April 5, 2001, from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Clay Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Friday, April 6, 2001, at 11 a.m., at New Light M.B. Church with the Rev. Earl Sinclair officiating. Burial will follow in Casteel Cemetery under the direction of Clay Funeral Home.

Lois R. Anderson
Mrs. Lois R. Anderson, age 70, of Pine Bluff, died Friday, March 30, 2001, in Pine Bluff.
Mrs. Anderson, formerly of Marianna, was a retired teacher and a member of Eta Sigma Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority, Paradise M.B. Church, AARP, NAACP, Arkansas Teacher Retirement and a honorary member of UAPB Vester Choir.
She is survived by two daughters, Marion Anderson McMillion and Joycelyn Anderson Scott, both of Pine Bluff; three sons, Elo Gerome Anderson of Cotton Plant, Robert Anderson of Houston, Texas and Victor Ryland of Pine Bluff; one sister, Aquilla Ramsey of Milwaukee, Wisc.; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Mrs. Anderson will be Friday, April 6, 2001, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Kennedy Chapel Funeral Home. A wake will follow from 6 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 7, 2001, at 11 a.m., at Paradise M.B. Church with the Rev. E.H. Garrett officiating. Burial will follow in Pilgrim Cemetery under the direction of Kennedy Funeral Home.

Queen Ester Quarrels
Ms. Queen Ester Quarrels, age 71, of Palestine, died Friday, March 30, 2001, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City.
Ms. Quarrels was a teacher's aid for 30 years for the Palestine-Wheatley Schools and was a member of the Mother of Jericho Church of God in Christ. She was a missionary and a Sunday School teacher.
She is survived by four daughters, Loretta Smith and Ersenia Quarrels, both of Palestine, Odersa Brittenum of Disputanta, Vir. and Maud Delois Smith of Leawood, Kan.; seven sons, Edison Quarrels of San Antonio, Texas, Arthur Lee Quarrels and Aldolphus Quarrels, both of West Memphis, Quertis Quarrels of Little Rock, Harry Lee Quarrels of Jonesboro, Theodore Quarrels of Elkmont, Ala. and Cedric Quarrels of Forrest City; one sister, Sendy Wilburn of Palestine; two brothers, James Gardner of Forrest City and Leroy Gardner of Palestine; 28 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Ms. Quarrels will be Friday, April 6, 2001, from 12 to 5 p.m. at Kennedy Funeral Home with a wake to follow from 6 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday, April 7, 2001, at 2 p.m. at the United Christian M.B. Church in Forrest City with Rev. Norris Latham and Rev. Nathaniel Pendleton officiating. Burial will follow in Jericho Cemetery under the direction of Kennedy Funeral Home.

Elgin Louis Rogers
Mr. Elgin Louis Rogers, age 37, of St. Louis, Mo. died Monday, April 2, 2001 at St. Mary Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.
Mr. Rogers, formerly of Colt, was born June 18, 1963 in Forrest City. He was the son of the late Warren G. Rogers and Bertha Hancock Rogers.
Mr. Rogers is survived by his mother, Bertha Rogers of Colt; five sisters, Lillie Jefferson, Neomi Sledge, both of St. Louis, Mo., Wilma Steward of Forrest City, Augustine Thompson and Gloria Black, both of North Carolina; five brothers, Andrew Rogers and Rodney Rogers, both of Colt, Leonard Rogers of Caldwell, James Rogers of North Carolina and Ray Rogers of Forrest City.
Visitation for Mr. Rogers will be Friday, April 6, 2001, from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Woodhouse Mortuary. Funeral services will be Saturday, April 7, 2001, at 11 a.m. at Mr. Sinai Baptist Church with Rev. Williams Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Clark Cemetery under the direction of Woodhouse Mortuary.

Robert L. Shannon
Mr. Robert L. Shannon, age 81, of Forrest City, died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City.
Mr. Shannon was born May 10, 1919, in Tyork, Miss. He was a retired supervisor and served in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Shannon is survived by his wife, Elna Shannon of Forrest City and two sisters, Mary Molette of Los Angeles, Calif. and Carrie Troupe of Berkley, Calif.
Visitation for Mr. Shannon will be Friday, April 6, 2001, from 12:30 to 5 p.m. at Clay Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday, April 7, 2001, at 1 p.m. at Madison Light Baptist Church with the Rev. Lonzo Gatlin officiating. Burial will follow in Forrest City Cemetery under the direction of Clay Funeral Home.
