Frances Elizabeth Hartsfield
Mrs. Frances Elizabeth Hartsfield, age 87, of Memphis, and a former resident of Forrest City, died Monday, Aug. 27, 2001, in Memphis.
Mrs. Hartsfield was born June 23, 1914, in Providence, Ky. and was the daughter of Robert Lee Dever and Annie Clark Dever. She was retired from the United States Department of Agriculture in 1981 and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Forrest City.
Mrs. Hartsfield was preceded in death by her husband, James K. Hartsfield in 1989.
She is survived by one son, James Kenneth Hartsfield of Memphis.
There will be a graveside funeral service for Mrs. Hartsfield on Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2001, at 11 a.m., at Forrest Park Cemetery with Rev. James Dean officiating the service. Stevens Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Eva V. Graham
Mrs. Eva V. Graham, age 80, of Forrest City, died Friday, July 27, 2001, at her home.
Mrs. Graham was born July 1, 1921, in Forrest City and was a retired housekeeper.
She is survived by two sons, Elliott Graham Jr. of Williamsville, NY and Spencer Graham of Youngstown, Ohio; six daughters, Ann Davis, Vickie Hughlett and Mary Graham, all of Milwaukee, Wis., Geneva Simmons of Buffalo, NY, Rosie Hamilton and Bernice Stewart, both of Forrest City; a brother, Woodrow Neal of Forrest City; a sister, Rose Grady of Milwaukee, Wis.; 45 grandchildren; 100 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Mrs. Graham will be held Friday, Aug. 3, 2001, from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Clay Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 4, 2001, at 1 p.m., at Beth Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Wade Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Forrest City Cemetery under the direction of Clay Funeral Home.
Julius Hughes Jr.
Mr. Julius Hughes Jr., age 47, of Dallas, Texas, died Tuesday, July 31, 2001, at Veterans Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.
Mr. Hughes, born July 20, 1954, in St. Louis, Mo., was the son of Julius Hughes Sr. and Alberta McKissick Hughes.
Mr. Hughes is survived by two sons, Jason Hughes of Los Angeles, Calif. and Phillip Hughes of Palestine; two sisters, Phyllis Hughes of Dallas, Texas and Connie Davis of Forrest City and a brother, Albert Hughes of Forrest City.
Funeral services for Mr. Hughes will be held Monday, Aug. 6, 2001, at 1 p.m., at Goodwin Church of God in Christ with Elder A.D. Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Casteel Cemetery under the direction of Woodhouse Mortuary.
A visitation service for Mr. Hughes will be held Saturday, Aug. 4, 2001, from noon to 5 p.m. at Woodhouse Mortuary.
Leon Jinks Jr.
Mr. Leon Jinks Jr., age 74, of Texarkana, Texas, died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2001, in a Texarkana hospital.
Mr. Jinks was born July 7, 1927, in Leonard, Texas. He was a retired sales executive of GTE-Sylvania, was a graduate of Hendrix College and was a U.S. Army Veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Jane "Boots" Jinks; two daughters, Jodi Jinks-Lehl of College Station, Texas and Synthia Jinks-Olinger of Albany, Calif.; a son, Mark Jinks of Des Moines, Iowa; his mother, Mary Jinks of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; a brother, Larry Jinks of Los Gatos, Calif.; a sister, Jean Newsum of Ft. Wayne, Ind. and three grandchildren.
A memorial service was held for Mr. Jinks on Monday, Aug. 27, 2001, at the Chapelwood Funeral Home Chapel.

William Ralph "Bill" Routon II
Mr. William Ralph "Bill" Routon II, age 77, of Hope, died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2001, at his home.
Mr. Routon was born April 22, 1924, in Hope and was the son of the late Ralph Routon and Lillian Carrigan Routon.
He was a 1942 graduate of Hope High School, he served with the U.S. Army Corps in England, attended Henderson College and the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville and was a farmer. Mr. Routon was also a board member of the Citizens National Bank for 40 years. He was appointed in 1993 to the state's Red River Commission, was a 16-year-member of the Hope School Board and was also on the board for the School of Hope, a school for handicapped and mentally challenged children. He was also a member of the Yellow Creek Hunting Club of McNab, a Mason, a Shriner, the Rose Hill Cemetery Association and was a life-long member of the First United Methodist Church.
Mr. Routon is survived by his wife Bonnie Anthony Routon of the home; a daughter, Jane Arnold of Little Rock; three sons, Stephen Anthony Routon of Forrest City, William Ralph Routon III of Fort Walton Beach, Fla. and John Graydon Nelms Routon of Hope; a sister, Lenora Cross of Fort Belvoir, Va.; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services for Mr. Routon were held Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2001, at the First United Methodist Church in Hope with Rev. Larry Ott and Rev. Ralph Hale officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Herndon Funeral Home.

Essa Cloman
Mrs. Essa Cloman, age 79, died Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2001, at Crestpark Retirement Inn in Forrest City.
Mrs. Cloman, born in Shelby, Miss., lived the majority of her life in Chicago, Ill. where she was employed as a baker until her retirement from Meyers Bakery. Following retirement Mrs. Cloman moved back to Arkansas and joined Christ Episcopal Church.
In 1937, Mrs. Cloman married Johnny Cloman and he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a son, Eugene Cloman and a granddaughter, Katrina. She is survived by a son, Johnny Cloman of Kankakee, Ill.; a daughter, Pearlie Spears, of Colt; a sister, Josephine Chisum of Memphis; a brother, Manon Mears of Memphis; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and a host of relatives.
Cremation services for Mrs. Cloman will be held Saturday, Sept. 1, 2001, at Christ Episcopal Church at 11 a.m. with Father Thomas Newman officiating.
W.J. "Bill" Trail Sr.
Mr. W.J. "Bill" Trail, Sr., age 87, of Forrest City, died Thursday, Aug. 30, 2001, at his home.
Mr. Trail was born May 14, 1914 in Haynes and was the son of William H. Trail and Eula Bodkin Trail. He lived in St. Francis County all of his life and was a farmer, a veteran of World War II and was a Baptist.
He was preceded in death in 1984 by one son, Richard F. Trail.
Mr. Trail is survived by his wife, Evelyn Jones Trail; two sons, W.J. Trail, Jr. of Widener and Ray M. Trail of Knoxville, Tenn.; one brother, Vernon Trail of California; three sisters, Pauline Anderson and Lee Parnell, both of Tennessee and Myra Crowe of Alabama; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Mr. Trail will be Friday, Aug. 31, 2001, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 1, 2001, at 2 p.m., at Stevens Funeral Home with burial following in Forrest Park Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
Theodis Lock Turner
Mrs. Theodis Lock Turner, age 81, of Cotton Plant, died Sunday, Aug. 26, at Central Arkansas Hospital in Searcy.
Mrs. Turner was born Oct. 25, 1919 in Cotton Plant and was the daughter of Leander Doss Lock and O.L. Lock. She was a member of Taylor's Chapel Methodist Church.
Mrs. Turner was preceded in death by her parents and two siblings.
She is survived by two daughters, Johnnie Mae Wells of Cotton Plant and Jackie Cannon of South Bend, Ind.; three sons, William Green of San Diego, Calif., Leotha Turner of Long Beach, Calif. and Johnny Turner of Atoka, Tenn.; two sisters, Ocie Williams of Cotton Plant and Eddie Mae Eckwood of Michigan City, Ind.; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Mrs. Turner will be held Sunday, Sept. 2, 2001, from 6 to 8 p.m. at McNeal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Monday, Sept. 3, 2001, at 11 a.m., at Taylor's Chapel Methodist Church in Cotton Plant with burial following in Ebenezer Cemetery under the direction of McNeal Funeral Home.
Cecil Clark
Mr. Cecil Clark, age 79, of West Memphis, died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2001, at Crittenden Memorial Hospital in West Memphis.
Mr. Clark, a self-employed public accountant, was a member of the Methodist Church of West Memphis. He was also a veteran of World War II and a member of the U.S. Army Air Corp. Mr. Clark was a member of the Arkansas Public Accountant Association.
Mr. Clark is survived by his wife, Nola Clark of West Memphis; two step-sons, Ben Greenwood of West Memphis and Buddy Greenwood of Little Rock; a sister, Louise Schasteen of Albuquerque, NM; three brothers, Sonny Clark, George Clark and Clyde Vernon Clark, all of Forrest City and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Monday, Aug. 6, 2001, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Roller Citizens Funeral Home in West Memphis. Graveside services for Mr. Clark will be held Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2001, at 2 p.m., at Crittenden Memorial Park in Marion under the direction of Roller-Citizens Funeral Home of West Memphis.
Erma Gatlin Jennings
Mrs. Erma Gatlin Jennings, age 53, of Palestine, died Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2001, at her home.
Mrs. Jennings, born June 3, 1948, in Joiner, was the daughter of Clara B. Knox of Palestine.
She is survived by her mother; a daughter, Sheryl Gatlin of West Memphis; a son, Mark Gatlin of Colt; five sisters, Linda Wilder and Bernadine Gatlin, both of Houston, Texas, Janet Gatlin of Atlanta, Ga., and Phillicia Knox and Clara D. Knox, both of Little Rock; eight brothers, Alvertis Gatlin, Jon Knox and Sidney Knox, all of Palestine, James Knox of Colt, Charles Knox of Houston, Texas, Bernard Knox of Forrest City, Darin Knox of Little Rock and Andre Knox of Camden and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Jennings will be held Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2001, at 11 a.m. at Stanley Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Franklin Sewart officiating under the direction of Woodhouse Mortuary.
Peggy Yarbro O'Malley
Mrs. Peggy Yarbro O'Malley, age 69, of Forrest City, died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2001, at Crestpark Retirement Inn in Forrest City.
Mrs. O'Malley, born Nov. 25, 1931, in Blytheville, was the daughter of Shirley Yarbro and Hollice Maxwell Yarbro. Mrs. O'Malley made her home in the Blytheville and Forrest City areas for all of her life. She was a cook and a Baptist.
Mrs. O'Mally is survived by a daughter, Vicki Hardy of Wagram, N.C.; a son, Tommy O'Malley of Blytheville, a sister, Patsy Farmer of Pineville; a brother, Raymond Sanders of Cape Girardeau, Mo. and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be private under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
