Ambrose Jones
Mr. Ambrose Jones, age 82, of Marianna, died Sunday, Feb. 11, 2001, at his home.
Mr. Jones was a retired baker and a member of Mount Sinai M.B. Church.
He is survived by his wife, Ester Mae Jones, of the home; 11 daughters, Barbara Stone and Lue Birdia Anderson, both of Memphis, Melvirdia Jones, Delois Jones, Catherine Jones and Mary Jones, all of Chicago, Ill., Zetta Rolfe of Earle, Betty Harris of Marianna, Bobbie Dukes, of Dallas, Texas, Thressa Green of Forrest City and Brenda Beasley of Hubert, N.C.; 11 sons, Sylvester Green and Leophis Green, both of Gill, Carl Jones, Jerome Jones, Timothy Jones and Michael Jones, all of Chicago, Ill., Ambrose Jones Jr. of Memphis, Dennis Jones of Las Angeles, Calif., Issiac Green and Larry Green, both of Marianna, Joseph Green of Little Rock; a brother, Henry Jones of El Paso, Texas; 89 grandchildren, 98 great-grandchildren and 30 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Mr. Jones will be held on Friday, Feb. 16, 2001, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Kennedy Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001, at 11 a.m., at Mount Gillian M.B. Church, with Rev. Leophis Green officiating the service. Burial will follow at Gill Cemetery under the direction of Kennedy Funeral Home.
Willie Albert Anderson
Mr. Willie Albert Anderson, age 77, of Forrest City, died Monday, Feb. 12, 2001, at Crittenden Memorial Hospital in West Memphis.
Mr. Anderson, born Aug. 21, 1923, in Lonoke was a retired carpenter and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He is survived by three sons, Larry Anderson of Sacramento, Calif., Billy Ray Anderson of Fort Wayne, Ind. and Roger Wayne Anderson of Springfield, Ill.; two daughters, Deloise McDaniel of Madison and Juanita Tolbert of Fort Wayne, Ind.; a brother, Leroy Anderson of Madison and 22 grandchildren.
Visitation services for Mr. Anderson will be Friday, Feb. 16, 2001, from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Clay Funeral Home. Funeral services for Mr. Anderson will be held Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001, at 10 a.m. at St. John M.B. Church in Madison with Rev. James Brooks officiating. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery under the direction of Clay Funeral Home.
Julie Mosgrove
Mrs. Julie Mosgrove, age 100, of Widener, died Sunday, Feb. 11, 2001, at Crestpark Intermediate of Forrest City.
Mrs. Mosgrove, born Nov. 17, 1900, in New Albany, Miss., was a retired farmer.
She is survived by a sister, Pearl Womack of Forrest City and a niece, Carrie Stewart of Widener.
Visitation services for Mrs. Mosgrove will be Friday, Feb. 16, 2001, from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Clay Funeral Home. Funeral services for Mrs. Mosgrove will be Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001, at 1:30 p.m. at Widener Church of God in Christ with Elder Elbert Larry officiating. Burial will follow at Paradise Garden Cemetery under the direction of Clay Funeral Home.
Nettie Worsham
Ms. Nettie Worsham, age 87, of Cotton Plant, died Monday, Feb. 12, 2001, at White County Medical Center, in Searcy.
Ms. Worsham is survived by one daughter, Pearlette Caraway of Kansas City, Mo. and a sister, Estella McKinley of Cotton Plant.
Funeral services for Ms. Worsham will be held on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001, at 11 a.m., at Holy Tabernacle Church of God in Christ in Cotton Plant, with Rev. Grant Greer officiating. Burial will follow in Ash Grove Cemetery in Cotton Plant with McNeal Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Caroline D. Jones
Mrs. Caroline D. Jones, age 90, of Forrest City, died Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2001, in Tacoma, Wash.
Mrs. Jones was born May 17, 1910 in Pine Bluff, and was the daughter of Josh and Lucy Daniels.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Marcus Freeman, Sam Jones and Payton Jones; a son, Charley Freeman; three brothers and one sister.
Mrs. Jones is survived by a son, Marcus W. Freeman, of Tacoma, Wash.; one sister, Mary Cobbage, of Chicago, Ill.; nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation services will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2001, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Kennedy Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2001, at 12 p.m., at Beth Salem Baptist Church, with Rev. Vernon Faulkner officiating. Burial will follow at Casteel Cemetery under the direction of Kennedy Funeral Home.
Frank T. Raines
Mr. Frank T. Raines, age 86, of Forrest City, died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001, at his home.
Mr. Raines was born on Oct. 31, 1914, in Cullman, Ala. He was the son of James Martin Raines and Arizella Keith Raines. Mr. Raines made Forrest City his home most of his life. He was a veteran of World War II, a Baptist and a car dealer.
Mr. Raines was married to Helen Frances Rice in 1943 and she survives him along with a daughter, Mickie Poindexter of Forrest City; a brother, James Richard Raines of Memphis; a sister Lucille Hodges, of Forrest City and one grandchild.
Funeral services for Mr. Raines will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2001, at 2 p.m., at Stevens Funeral Home with the Rev. Joel Meredith officiating. Burial will follow at Forrest Park Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
Ruby Lee Crockett
Miss Ruby Lee Crockett, age 74, of Chicago, Ill., died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, West Suburin Oak Park, Ill.
Miss Crockett, formerly of Marianna, is survived by three daughters, Henrene Bailey of Edgewater, N.J., Thelma Dean Burrell of Forrest Park, Ill. and Tommye Lee Dunlaney of Maywood, Ill; four sisters, Jaunita Powell, Vera Platt, Carrie Irvin and Selenar Buchanan; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services for Miss Crockett will be Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001, at 11 a.m. at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Aubrey with Rev. Hal Johnson officiating. There will be a visitation prior to the service from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Antioch M.B. Church. Mcneal Funeral Home, Inc. of Brinkley, and Calahan Funeral Home of Chicago, Ill., are in charge of arrangements.
Lloyd Gustavus
Mr. Lloyd Gustavus, age 92, of Palestine died Thursday, Feb. 1, 2001, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City.
Mr. Gustavus was a retired farmer and a member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Forrest City.
He is survived by four daughters, Elizabeth Chrestman of Byhalia, Miss., Mary Killingsworth of Caldwell, Peggy Taylor of Palestine and Betty Kucera of Sealy, Texas; four sons, Johnny Gustavus, of Des Arc, Tommy Gustavus of Senatobia, Miss., Freddie Gustavus of West Memphis and James Gustavus of Marion; 22 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Gustavus was preceded in death by his wife Carrie Gustavus and a son Henry Gustavus.
Funeral services for Mr. Gustavus are scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001 at 2 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church with burial following at Hughes Cemetery. Roller-Citizens Funeral Home of West Memphis is in charge of arrangements.
Nellie Jane Hastings
Mrs. Nellie Jane Hastings, age 88, of Forrest City, died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2001, at Chritopher Homes.
Mrs. Hastings, born Aug. 8, 1912, she was the daughter of Bluford Williams and Emer Williams. She was a housewife and a Baptist.
Mrs. Hastings is survived by two sons, Roy Hastings of Louisiana and George Hastings of Forrest City; four daughters, Louise Cox of Alabama, Jean Witt of Louisiana, Mildred Aunspaugh and Wilma Riggs, both of Forrest City; a sister Mary Cole of Forrest City; 18 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Hastings, Sr., in 1970, and a son, Andrew Bud Hastings, Jr., in 1998.
There will be visitation service for Mrs. Hastings, Friday, Feb. 2, 2001 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Chapel of Morgan Funeral Home. Funeral services for Mrs. Hastings will be Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001, at 2 p.m. at Morgan Chapel with Bro. J. D. Webb officiating. Burial will follow at Forrest Park Cemetery under the direction of Morgan Funeral Home.
Johnny Nelson Malone
Mr. Johnny Nelson Malone, age 59, of Pine Bluff, died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2001, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Malone was a machinist and a Baptist.
He is survived by his wife, Billie Currie Malone; a son, Johnny Malone Jr. of Brickeys; a step-son, Chris Herrington of Memphis; his mother, Mary Malone of West Memphis; two brothers, Bill Malone of Pontotoc, Miss. and Holland Malone of Alger, Mich. and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Herman Malone and a sister Helen Lindsey.
Funeral services for Mr. Malone were held Thursday, Feb. 1, 2001, at Essex Funeral Home Chapel in DeWitt.
The family requests that all memorials be sent to the Leukemia Society.
