Lena Verneal Jacobs Baker
Lena Verneal Jacobs Baker, 83, of McCrory died Thursday, Nov. 25, 1999, at her home.
Mrs. Baker was a charter member of Faith Baptist Church in McCrory, a homemaker and a lifelong resident of McCrory.
She is survived by three sons, Joe Baker and Edgar Lee Baker Jr. both of McCrory and Lloyd Baker of Pine Bluff; one daughter, Verneal King of Hot Springs; two brothers, Alfread Jacobs of Springdale and David Jacobs of Wynne; five sisters, Margaret Reynolds of Vanndale, Maxine Newland of Rancho Santa Marita, Calif., Lavern Robbins of Forrest City, Joyce Kay of Wynne and Alice Gaston of McCrory; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation was Friday, Nov. 26, at Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. Services were Saturday, Nov. 27, at Faith Baptist Church in McCrory with Brother Mike Johnson of Franklin, Indiana officiating. Burial followed at Woodman Cemetery with Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home in charge of the arrangement. Memorials may be made to Faith Baptist Church.
Mrs. Jodie B. "Allie" Cook Sr.
Jodie B. "Allie" Cook Sr., age 91, of Forrest City, died Sunday, Nov. 28, 1999, at Crestpark Skilled Nursing Home.
She was born June 15, 1908, in Sparkman to Herman and Minnie Shambley. She lived in St. Francis County most of her life and was a housewife. She was a member of the Madison Methodist Church and later attended Valley View Christian Center.
She married J.B. Cook Sr., in 1932, and he preceded her in death in 1990. She is survived by a son, J. B. Cook Jr. of Forrest City; four daughters, Adreene Kelly, Dorothy Herbert, Jennie Mae Hartman, and Milrean Horton, all of Forrest City; and several other relatives.
Four sons, Grady Cook, Vernon Cook, Glen Shaddock and Maxie Jo Cook all preceded her in death.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 29, 1999, at Stevens Funeral Home. Services will be held at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 30, 1999, with burial to follow in Forrest Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Madison Methodist Church or the Valley View Christian Center.
Ellen H. Rose
Ellen H. Rose, 85, of Marianna died Thursday, Nov. 25, 1999, at Crestpark Nursing home in Marianna.
Mrs. Rose was born Sept. 30, 1913, to Robert Henry Harris and Zetella Clear. She was a homemaker and a member of Church of God in Prophecy-Pentecostal Church.
Mrs. Rose was preceded in death by her husband Marvin Rose and two grandsons Alan Bonner and Michael Murdock
She is survived by three sisters, Kathryn Bonner of Marianna, Margaret Horton of West Memphis and Marry Ann Adams of Wildersville, Tenn.; two sons, Bob Rose of West Memphis and David Rose of West Helena; a sister, Christine Rose of West Helena; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was Friday, Nov. 26, at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home. Services were held Saturday, Nov. 27, at Roller-Citizens Chapel with Rev. Ken Walls officiating. Burial followed at LaGrange Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Citizen Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the LaGrange Cemetery Association.
Josephine D. Holland
Josephine D. Holland, 80, of Aubrey, died Saturday, Nov. 27, 1999, at St. Vincent Infirmary in Little Rock.
Mrs. Holland was born April 24, 1919, in Osburn, Missouri to John Clay Ditmars and Lula Milligan Ditmars. She was a retired OEO Supervisor for Lee County, a housewife and a member of First Christian Church in Marianna.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence Ditmars and Robert Clay Ditmars as well as her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Dan Holland of Aubrey; a son, John D. Holland of Little Rock; a daughter, Nila Ray of Little Rock; a sister, Shirley Pickett of Russellville; a brother, Melvin Ditmars of Sheldon and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Nov. 29, at 2 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Marianna with burial to follow at Lagrange Cemetery under the direction of Morgan Funeral Home.
Billy Wayne "Bubba" Coleman, Jr.
Billy Wayne "Bubba" Coleman, Jr., 18, of Heth, died Sunday, Nov. 28, 1999, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City.
Mr. Coleman was a track hoe operator and a member of Shell Lake Baptist Church.
He is survived by his mother, Bobbie Coleman of Heth; two sisters, Sudonna Dye of Heth and Stacy Hagood of Memphis and his grandmother, Sally Coleman of Annona, Texas.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Dec. 1, at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home from 6 to 9 p.m. Services will be Thursday, Dec. 2, at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Crittenden Memorial Park in Marion under the direction of Roller-Citizens Funeral Home. Memorials can be made to Shell Lake Baptist Church in Heth.
Roy Cornelious "Sebo" Lewellen, Sr.
Roy Cornelious "Sebo" Lewellen, Sr., 76, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 1999, at Crestpark Retirement Inn.
Mr. Lewellen was born June 30, 1923, to Jesse and Cornelious Malone-Lewellen. He was a veteran of World War II receiving the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. He was also a member of United Christian Missionary Baptist Church in Forrest City.
He is survived by his wife, Ethel Brewer Lewellen; two sons, Sen. Roy Lewellen, Jr., of Marianna and Rev. Anthony Lewellen of St. Louis, Mo.; three daughters, Ernestene Lewellen Qualls of Chicago, Ill., Annette Lewellen of Little Rock and Marvie Kay Lewellen of Marianna; two step-children, William Ingram and Annette Ingram, both of Fort Wayne Ind.; six sisters, Ruby Watkins, Mereva Fulcher and Garnett Crockett, all of Los Angeles, Calif., Mable Hargraves of Forrest City, Violet Rispon of Detroit, Mich., and Anne Lewis of Stone Mountain, Ga.; two brothers, Rev. Herman Lewellen of Jonesboro and Rep. John Lewellen of Little Rock; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held today, Tuesday, Nov. 30, from 12 to 5 at the Marianna Funeral Home.
Services will be Wednesday, Dec. 1, at United Christian Church in Forrest City with Rev. Anthony Lewellen officiating. Burial will follow at Dansby Cemetery under the direction of Marianna Funeral Home.
Billy Wayne Lovell
Billy Wayne Lovell, 55, died Monday, Nov. 29, 1999, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City.
Mr. Lovell was born June 5, 1944, in Baldwyn, Miss., to Jack Lovell and Alvie Holmes Lovell. He was an ordained Southern Baptist Minister as well as a carpenter and a painter.
He is survived by his mother, Alvie Holmes Lovell; his wife, Carolyn Lovell; two daughters, Robin McKee of Harrison and Beth Hawkins of Forrest City and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at Morgan Chapel. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 1, at 2 p.m. at Morgan Chapel with Brother Chelch Reagan officiating assisted by Brother Jessie Hodges. Burial will follow at Barnishaw Cemetery at Pine Bluff under the direction of Morgan Funeral Home.

Mrs. Inez Harbin Kelly, age 67, of Forrest City, died Wednesday November 3, 1999, in a North Little Rock Hospital.
Mrs. Kelly was born January 27, 1932, to Ben and Inez Harbin and lived most of her life in St. Francis County. She was a member of the Landmark Baptist Church and a housewife.
Mrs. Kelly is survived by her husband Curtis Kelly; two step-sons, Curtis Williams Kelly, Jr. and Bruce Allen Kelly, both of Texas; five brothers, Ronnie Harbin of Forrest City, Donald Harbin and Will Harbin, both of Texas, Francis Harbin of North Little Rock, and Paul Harbin of Franklin; a sister Mary Moody of Forrest City and three step-grandsons.
Visitation will be Friday, Nov. 5, from 6-8 p.m. at Morgan Chapel. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 6, at 10:00 a.m. at Morgan Chapel with Brother Gary Malone officiating. The Burial will follow at Forrest park Cemetery under the direction of Morgan Funeral Home.

Beatrice Hamilton Hymes, age 79, of Forrest City, died Saturday, Oct. 30, 1999, at her home.
She was born June 18, 1920, in Forrest City, to Jab and Martha Jarmon, and was a homemaker.
She is survived by a three daughters, Maxie Ramey, Lillie Dawson, and Icyfene Golden, all of Forrest City; four sons, Lank Hamilton of Evanston, Ill., Jewery Hamilton and Lee Hamilton Jr., both of Forrest City, Ira Hamilton of Chicago, Ill.; 30 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from until 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 5, 1999, at Clay Funeral Home. Services will be held at Lane Chapel CME Church on Saturday, Nov. 6, 1999, at noon with Rev. Ira Hamilton officiating. Burial is to follow at Casteel Cemetery with Clay Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
