Raymond Eugene Davis
Mr. Raymond Eugene Davis, age 62, of Forrest City, died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001, at Baptist Hospital-East in Memphis.
Mr. Davis was born on Jan. 26, 1938, in Somerville, Tenn., and was the son of Mackie Thomas Davis and Mabel Edwards Davis. He lived in Forrest City most of his life, was retired from Yale Industries, and was a member of the St. Francis Catholic Church.
Mr. Davis married Cathy Rosica in 1965, and she survives him along with two sons, Bradley Davis of Forrest City and Christopher Davis of Searcy; two brothers, Lonnie Mack Davis of Little Rock and Thomas Edwards Davis of Crystal River, Fla.; and one sister, Martha Ann Fox of Little Rock.
Visitation for Mr. Davis will be held on Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Stevens Funeral Home. A vigil service will follow at 7 p.m., with visitation continuing afterwards. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, at 11 a.m., at St. Francis Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Forrest Park Cemetery. Stevens Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
The family requests that memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Tillman Jackson
Tillman Jackson, age 41, of Little Rock, died Monday, Jan. 22, 2001, in Little Rock.
Mr. Jackson is survived by his parents, John Jackson and Earline Davis Jackson; six sisters, Carrie Lee Hall of West Memphis, Carlortta Jackson, Charlortta Flenoy, Olivia Rachel, Alice Garrett and Gloria Jackson-Hail, all of Marianna; six brothers, David Lee Jackson, James Cooper and Frank Cooper, all of Chicago, Alfred Lee Davis, of Forrest City, John R. Jackson Jr., of Marianna and Ocie W. Jackson, of Kansas City, Mo.
Visitation will be held Friday, Jan. 26, 2001 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., at J.E. Kennedy Funeral Home in Marianna.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, at 11 a.m., at the Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church and Cemetery, with the Rev. Michael Thomas officiating. J.E. Kennedy Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Floyd "Lumpy" Jones Jr.
Mr. Floyd Jones Jr., age 33, of Forrest City, died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001, at his home.
Mr. Jones was a barber. He is survived by his parents, Ethel Jones of Forrest City and Floyd Jones Sr., of West Memphis; his grandmothers, Helen Malone of Madison, and Lucy Carter of Little Rock; two daughters, Marinda Jones of Forrest City, and Kenya Jones of Nashville, Tenn.; two sons, Carneighn Jones of Little Rock, and Marquies Jones, of Forrest City; four sisters, Helen Alexander of Pontiac, Mich., Pamela King of Forrest City, Constance King, and Stephanie King; nine brothers, Michael Alexander of Pontiac, Mich., Russell Jones, Marty Jones, and Derrick Malone, all of Madison, Bobby Malone and Randy Milbrook, both of Forrest City, Thomas Robinson of Madison, Kevin King and Bryant King, both of Marianna.
Visitation services for Mr. Jones will be held Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Kennedy Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, at 2 p.m., at Day's Temple Church of God in Christ, with the Bishop J.H. Jennings officiating. Burial will follow at Scott Bond Cemetery in Madison.

Maxie Smith
Mrs. Maxie Smith, age 96, of Orange, Texas died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001, in Orange.
Mrs. Smith, formerly of Madison, was born on May 5, 1904, in Bronson, Texas. She was the daughter of Mary Leah LaRue Anderson and Thomas Maxfield Anderson. Mrs. Smith lived in Madison during the 1950s, before moving to Orange, Texas. She was a homemaker and did needle work. Mrs. Smith was a member of St. John's Methodist Church in Orange, Texas.
She married Thomas Franklin Smith in 1920, and he preceded her in death in 1960, along with a daughter, Frances Poindexter of Hemphill, Texas; and three grandchildren.
Mrs. Smith is survived by two daughters, Nelda Smith of Orange, Texas, and Frankie Heustess of Forrest City; two sons, Charles Smith of Caldwell and Thomas E. Smith of Orange, Texas; a sister, Lucille Warner of Nacododoches, Texas; 14 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Smith were held Monday, Jan. 22, 2001, in Orange, Texas, with the Reverends Lindsey Smith and Willard Anderson officiating the service. Burial followed in Bronson Cemetery, in Bronson, Texas.

Bette J. Turk
Mrs. Bette J. Turk, age 76, of Forrest City, died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001, at her home.
Mrs. Turk was born on Sept. 5, 1924, in Eldorado and was the daughter of Ernest Lee Fisher and Lora L. Royal Fisher. She lived in Forrest City all of her life. Mrs. Turk was a retired accountant from the Federal Compress, was past president of the Musical Coterie, was secretary and treasurer for the Hughes Cemetery Association, was a member of the National Association of Accountants and was a teacher for the Reflectors Bible Study Group. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Forrest City.
Mrs. Turk married Vernon D. Turk Sr., and he survives her along with two daughters, Verna J. Powell of Hillsboro, Ill. and Becky Puryear of Benton; a son, Vernon D. Turk Jr., of West Memphis; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Visitation services will be held Thursday, Jan. 25, 2001, from 6 to 9 p.m., at Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, at 2 p.m., at the First Baptist Church, with burial following in Hughes Cemetery. Stevens Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Willie Lee Waller
Mr. Willie Lee Waller, age 82, of Palestine, died Monday, Jan. 22, 2001, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-East in Memphis.
Mr. Waller was born March 9, 1918 in Palestine and was the son of George Lee Waller and Mae Willie Waller. Mr. Waller was a retired farmer.
He is survived by five sons, Lenell Waller of Palestine, Willie J. Waller and Leodis Waller, both of St. Louis, Mo., Johnny C. Waller and Alonzo Waller, both of Fort Worth, Texas; four daughters, Stella M. Waller of Oak Park, Ill., Armelia Smith of Memphis, Mildred A. Hood of Little Rock and Bobbie A. Fingers of Palestine; 24 grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Mr. Waller will be held on Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Clay Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, at 12 p.m., in Elcannon Missionary Baptist Church, with Dr. Howard C. Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Elcannon Cemetery. Clay Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Verna Brown
Mrs. Verna Brown, age 40, of Forrest City, died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2001, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City.
She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Brown is survived by a son, Will Hester III, of Forrest City; two sisters, Ormie Moore and Ivory Pennick, both of Austin, Texas; and a brother, Henry Harris Jr., of Heth.
Visitation will be held Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., at Rising Sun M.B. Church. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, at 12 p.m., at Rising Sun M.B. Church. Burial will follow at Paradise Garden. Wolfe Brothers Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Floyd "Lumpy" Jones, Jr.
Mr. Floyd Jones Jr., age 33, of Forrest City, died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2001, at his home.
Mr. Jones was a barber and a 1985 graduate of Forrest City High School. He is survived by his parents, Ethel Jones of Forrest City and Floyd Jones Sr., of West Memphis; his grandmothers, Helen Malone of Madison, and Lucy Marter of Little Rock; two daughters, Marinda Jones of Forrest City, and Keona Jones of Nashville, Tenn.; two sons, Carneighn Jones of Little Rock, and Marquies Jones, of Forrest City; four sisters, Helen Alexander of Pontiac, Mich., Pamela King and Constance King, both of Forrest City and Stephanie King of Marianna; nine brothers, Michael Alexander of Pontiac, Mich., Russell Malone, Marty Malone, and Derrick Malone, all of Madison, Bobby Malone Jr. and Randy Milbrook, both of Forrest City, Thomas Robinson of Madison, Kevin King and Bryant King, both of Marianna.
He was preceded in death by his father Bobby T. Malone and a brother Gregory Malone.
Visitation services for Mr. Jones will be held Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Kennedy Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, at 2 p.m., at Salem M.B. Church with Rev. Felix Duckworth officiating and Elder Thurman Carter assisting. Burial will follow at Madison Cemetery. Kennedy Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Willie Reeves Jr.
Mr. Willie Reeves Jr., age 73, of Palestine, died Monday, Jan. 22, 2001, in Palestine.
Mr. Reeves was born on May 6, 1927 in Palestine. He was the son of Willie Reeves Sr., and Mable Jordan. Mr. Reeves was a veteran, a grocery store owner and a member of the Church of God.
Mr. Reeves is survived by his wife, Tommie Jackson Reeves of Brinkley; his mother, Mable Wilson of Conway; three daughters, Teresa Barnhill of Sheridan, Betty Wheeler and Brenda Self, both of Moro; a son, Roger Reeves of Palestine; two sisters, Pat Montgomery of Conway and Mary Jinks of Houston, Texas; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation service for Mr. Reeves will be held on Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Roller-Citizens Chapel, in Marianna. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, at 10 a.m., at Roller-Citizens Chapel, with the Rev. Gene Craig officiating the service. Burial will follow at Salem Cemetery in Salem. Roller-Citizens Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Lena Mae Bickerstaff
Mrs. Lena Mae Bickerstaff, age 90, of Hughes, died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, at Beverly Health Care in Jonesboro.
Mrs. Bickerstaff was a homemaker and a member of Central Baptist Church in Hughes.
She was preceded in death by her husband, R.H. Bickerstaff. Mrs. Bickerstaff is survived by three daughters, Kathleen Turman, of Meridan, Miss., Anna Gracey, of Forrest City, and Rose Wilkerson, of Mt. View, Mo.; four sons, Roger Bickerstaff, of Arlington, Texas, Wallace Bickerstaff, of Chicago, Ill., Russell Bickerstaff, of Jonesboro, and Marion Bickerstaff, of Tyronza; 32 grandchildren and a host of great and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Bickerstaff will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2001, at 10 a.m., in the Chapel of Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in West Memphis. Burial will follow at Forrest Park Cemetery in Forrest City. Roller-Citizens Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. The family requests that all memorials be made to the Central Baptist Church in Hughes.
