Nancy Belle Threat
Mrs. Nancy Belle Threat, age 84, formerly of Forrest City, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2001, at Oakdale Nursing Home in Judsonia.
Mrs. Threat was born Feb. 20, 1916, in Ozark. She was the daughter of Darch Peeler and Mary Peeler. Mrs. Threat made her home in Forrest City until moving to Cherry Valley. She was a retired LPN and a member of First Baptist Church in Forrest City.
Mrs. Threat was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Threat Sr., in 1958, and a son, Tom E. Threat. She is survived by seven sons, George Threat, of Garland, Texas, John Threat Jr., of Grady, Jack Threat, of Petal, Miss., N.E. Threat, of Rex, Ga., Jerry Threat, of Morrillton, J.B. Threat, of McRae, Sam Threat, of Palestine; four daughters, Elaine Stowell, of Texarkana, Martha Walls, of Forrest City, Mary Alice Stuck, of Eugene, Ore., Dorothy Taylor, of Templeton, Calif.; a sister, Dolly King, of Dekalb, Texas; 23 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Mrs. Threat will be Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Sunday, Jan. 7, 2001, at 2 p.m., at Stevens Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Forrest Park Cemetery.

Castella Williams
Mrs. Castella Williams, age 84, of Forrest City, died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at Methodist Hospital Central in Memphis.
Mrs. Williams was born May 12, 1916, in Indianola, Miss. She was a retired farmer.
Mrs. Williams is survived by nine sons, Dunbar Williams, of Detroit, Mich., Leodis Williams, of Forrest City, Herman Williams, Eugene Williams, Howard Williams, Cornelius Williams, all of Chicago, Ill., Leonard Williams, Elisie Williams, Timothy Williams, all of Little Rock; five daughters, Catherine Smith, of Memphis, Stella Howard, of Chicago, Ill., Deloris Stewart, of Little Rock, Lola Hall, Sadie White, both of Cleveland, Ohio; a brother, Tom Knox, of Colt; 34 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation services for Mrs. Williams will be Friday, Jan. 5, 2001, from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Clay Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001, at 11 a.m., at Salem Baptist Church, with the Rev. Felix Duckworth officiating. Burial will follow in Casteel Cemtery. Clay Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Woody Wofford
Mr. Woody Albert Wofford, age 76, of Toledo, Ohio died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000 at Toledo Hospital.
Mr. Wofford, a native of Widener,was the son of Jerry and Ethel Wofford. He served in the U.S. Army in 1943 and was a retired HVAC/R technician from Lucas County Metropolitan Housing Authority in Toledo where he had over 42 years of service.
Mr. Wofford is survived by his wife, Geneva Wofford; two daughters, Sharon Wofford, of Toledo, Ohio, Carolyn Langseth, of Longview, Texas; four sons, Barry Wofford, Eric Wofford, both of Toledo, Ohio, Shelby Wofford, Richard Wofford, both of Columbus, Ohio; four grandchildren and a great-grandson. He was preceded in death by a brother, Nathaniel Wofford; a sister, Helen Wofford and a granddaughter.
Funeral services for Mr. Wofford were held Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church in Toledo, Ohio with Rev. Raymond Bishop officiating. Burial followed at Woodlawn Cemeter under the direction of Dale Funeral Home.

Joe Andrews
Mr. Joe Andrews, age 63, of Tyler, Texas, formerly of Wynne, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2001, at a Tyler hospital.
Mr. Andrews was born Aug. 8, 1937, in Whitehall. He was a resident of Tyler for the last 30 years. Mr. Andrews was an engineer with Union Pacific Railroad and a member of Friendly Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Cleda E. Andrews, of Tyler, Texas; two sisters, Mattie Faulkner, Donna Walls; and six step-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Andrews were held on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2001, at Burks-Walker-Tippit Funeral Home, in Tyler, Texas, the Rev. Dale Perry, Bro. Tim McKeown and Bro. Pat Alvey officiated the service. Burial was held Monday, Jan. 8, 2001, at Harris Chapel Cemetery in Wynne, under the direction of Burks-Walker-Tippit Funeral Home.

Edna Louise Hand
Mrs. Edna Louise Hand, age 87, of Butte, Mont., formerly of Little Rock, died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001.
Mrs. Hand was born May 28, 1913 in Fort Smith. She was the daughter of Edward Searle and Julia Wagner DeLoach. Mrs. Hand was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Little Rock.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, George Hand, in 1990. Mrs. Hand is survived by a sister, Catherine Barros, of Fort Smith.
A funeral mass was held for Mrs. Hand Monday, Jan. 8, 2001, at St. Andrews Cathedral in Little Rock. Burial followed in the National Cemetery in Little Rock. Griffin Leggette Healy and Roth Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mary Frances Smith
Mrs. Mary Frances Smith, age 55, of Forrest City, died Monday, Jan. 8, 2001, at her residence.
Mrs. Smith was born in Berkeley, Calif. She lived in Walnut Ridge before moving to Forrest City 10 years ago. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and had an Associates Degree from William Baptist College. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi and a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband, Gary V. Smith, of the home; her parents, Marvin and Irene McAnulty, of Camden; three daughters, Lori Douglas, of Holly Springs, Miss., Kimberly Soper and Jennifer Smith, both of Forrest City; four sisters, Linda McCartner, of Conway, Shirley White, Nancy Massey and Jackie Bell, all of Camden; a brother, Ray McAnulty Jr., of Camden.
A memorial service for Mrs. Smith will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2001, at 11 a.m., at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Forrest City, with Don Marston and David Ramsey officiating. Visitation for Mrs. Smith will be Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2001, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., at House-Gregg Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge. A graveside funeral service will be held on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2001, at 2 p.m., at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Walcott, with Don Marston officiating. House-Gregg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. The family requests that all memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.

Mattie Ila Cochran Bess
Mrs. Mattie Ila Cochran Bess, age 81, of Forrest City, died Monday, July 9, 2001, at her home.
Mrs. Bess, born July 26, 1919, in Saline County, was the daughter of Houston Cochran and Mary Ellis Lancaster Cochran. She was a long time resident of Saline County and was a housewife and a member of the First Church of Nazarene.
Mrs. Bess is survived by two daughters, June Schmidt and Peggy Chism, both of Forrest City; a brother Dan Holland of Forrest City; a sister, Wanda "Bea" Soto of Heth, five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services for Mrs. Bess will be held Tuesday, July 10, 2001, at 7 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home with visitation preceding from 4 to 7 p.m. A graveside service for Mrs. Bess will be held Wednesday, July 11, 2001, at 1 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Saline County at 1 p.m. with Rev. Ron Leggett officiating the service. Stevens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy Pauline Farmer
Mrs. Dorothy Pauline Farmer, age 79, of Wynne, formerly a resident of the Pine Tree area, died Tuesday, July 10, 2001, at Cross Ridge Community Hospital in Wynne.
Mrs. Farmer was born Sept. 26, 1921, in Wynne and was the daughter of Stephen Nathaniel and Hattie May Kelly Clark. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
Mrs. Clark was preceded in death by her husband, Bostic Ray Farmer; her parents; a daughter, Linda Dale Farmer Burns; a granddaughter, Candace Paige Reynolds and by five sisters and three brothers.
She is survived by seven sons, Steven Farmer of Colt, Charles Farmer of Collierville, Tenn., Ludy Farmer of Cherry Valley, Jerry Farmer of Wynne, Kenneth Farmer of Tilton, Gene Farmer and Gary Farmer, both of Marion; seven daughters, Angeline Enos of Eureka, Calif., Irene Turner of Newnan, Ga., Lyda McKee of Pangburn, Arlene Jolly of Alexander, Florene Waldo, Darlene Young and Dorothy Ellis, all of Wynne; a brother, Stephen L. Clark of Kansas City, Kan.; a sister, Marie McKnight of Wynne; 32 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Mrs. Farmer will be held Thursday, July 12, 2001, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home in Wynne. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 13, 2001, at 10 a.m., at the Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ray Dean Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the McElroy Cemetery in Wynne under the direction of Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home of Wynne.

Shari Anne Gilbert
Mrs. Shari Anne Gilbert, age 39, of Marion, died Tuesday, July 10, 2001, at the Elvis Presley Regional Trauma Center in Memphis.
Mrs. Gilbert was an employee for Merry Maids, was a Baptist and a member of Robert E. Spillman Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 550.
She was preceded in death by a brother, David Barrett.
Mrs. Gilbert is survived by her husband, Gary Wayne Gilbert of Marion; six sons, Ronnie Kenneth Brady, Lloyd Alan Brady, Jason Wayne Brady, Christopher Todd Brady, Raymond Lee Gilbert and Anthony Austin Gilbert, all of Marion; four sisters, Kathren Barrett of West Memphis, Docia York of Dyersburg, Tenn, Sally R. Tatum of El Paso, Texas and Dequita Barrett of Marked Tree and four grandchildren.
Visitation for Mrs. Gilbert will be held Friday, July 13, 2001, from 6 to 9 p.m., at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in West Memphis. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 14, 2001, at 1 p.m., in Roller-Citizens Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Vanndale Cemetery in Vanndale with Roller-Citizens Funeral Home of West Memphis in charge of the arrangements.

Thomas Leo Todd Sr.
Mr. Thomas Leo Todd Sr., age 74, of Heber Springs, formerly of Forrest City, died Wednesday, July 11, 2001, at Baptist Health Medical Center in Heber Springs.
Mr. Todd was born June 30, 1927, in Shiloh and was the son of the late C.C. and Johnnie Stark Todd. He was retired from Air Therm in Forrest City after 23 years and was a former resident of Springdale. Mr. Todd was also a veteran of World War II and Korea, having served in the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy and the National Guard and was a member of the American Legion and V.F.W.. He was also a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Mr. Todd was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Otis Todd, Leon Todd and Aubrey Todd and one sister, Inez Southerland.
He is survived by his wife, Winona Marie Davis Todd of Heber Springs; two sons, Tommy Todd of Nashville, Tenn. and Terry Wayne Todd of Marion; a daughter, Sheila Luker of Heber Springs; two brothers, Wayne Todd of Heber Springs and Ochel Todd of Pearson; two sisters, Juanita Birdson of Greers Ferry and Mary Lou Verser of Heber Springs; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Todd will be held Friday, July 13, 2001, at 2:30 p.m., at the Shiloh Cross Roads Church with burial to follow with military honors by American Legion Post 64 at Shiloh Cross Roads Cemetery under the direction of Olmstead Funeral Home of Heber Springs.
