Amanda Edgar Wilkerson
Miss Amanda Edgar Wilkerson, age 21, of Forrest City, died Thursday, June 21, 2001, in Forrest City.
Miss Wilkerson was born Oct. 9, 1979, in Little Rock. She was a student at the University of Mississippi and was a member of the Phi Mu Sorority. Miss Wilkerson was also a member of the Episcopal Church.
She is survived by her mother, Linda McAuley Carney of Proctor; her father, Jim Edgar of Atlanta, Ga.; her step-father, Gil Carney of Proctor; a brother, Drew Wilkerson of Proctor; a maternal grandmother, Sula Hobbie of Forrest City; a maternal great-grandmother, Kathryn Rauscher of Forrest City and a paternal grandmother, Edna Edgar of Forrest City.
Private funeral services will be held for the family under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
Juanita F. Shepherd
Mrs. Juanita F. Shepherd, age 74, of Tumbling Shoals, died Monday, June 25, 2001, at the Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock.
Mrs. Shepherd was born Feb. 16, 1927, to the late Dan and Mittie Bell "Giles" Fleming. She was a retired secretary for the U.S. Government agricultural division and worked at the Shepco Ceramic Shop in Tumbling Shoals. Mrs. Shepherd was also a member of the Heber Springs First Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her husband, J.D. Shepherd of Tumbling Shoals and many nieces an nephews.
Visitation for Mrs. Shepherd will be Wednesday, June 27, 2001, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Olmstead Funeral Home in Heber Springs. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 28, 2001, at 10 a.m. at Olmstead Chapel with Rev. Charles Olsen officiating. Burial will follow in Cleburne County Memorial Gardens in Heber Springs with Olmstead Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

James Carl "Abe" Green
Mr. James Carl "Abe" Green, age 75, of Forrest City, died Tuesday, June 26, 2001, at the Crestpark Nursing Home in Forrest City.
Mr. Green was born May 14, 1926, in Hughes, the son of James and Mary Ann Baty Green. He had been a farmer and worked at the Doc Hardin Sawmill for over 20 years. Mr. Green was a resident of Hunter, prior to moving to Crestpark Nursing Home.
He is survived by one sister, Mamie Hamby of Caldwell.
Mr. Green was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Johnnie Vaughn and two sisters, Jessie Franks and Pauline Matthewson.
Funeral services for Mr. Green will be Thursday, June 28, 2001, at 2 p.m., at the Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel in Wynne with Rev. Myron Shaw officiating. Burial will follow in the Lindsey Cemetery in Forrest City under the direction of Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home of Wynne and McCrory. The family requests memorials be made to the American Diabetes Foundation.
Geraldine Robinson
Mrs. Geraldine Robinson, age 55, of St. Louis, Mo., formerly of Forrest City, died Monday, June 18, 2001, in St. Louis.
Mrs. Robinson was born Feb. 12, 1946, in Forrest City, the daughter of Theo and Annie Odean Williams. She was a member of the King Chapel in Forrest City.
She is survived by her mother, Annie Odean Robertson of Forrest City; three daughters, Madelyn Rucker, Nakisha Rucker and Gloria Booker, all of St. Louis, and a brother, Leotis Williams of St. Louis.
Mrs. Robinson was preceded in death by her husband, Earlie Robinson; her father, Theo Williams; three brothers and one sister.
Funeral services for Mrs. Robinson were held Friday, June 22, 2001, at Wade Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in St. Louis with Rev. Eddie Morris officiating. Burial followed in Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Wade Funeral Home Memorial Chapel.
Carlaretta Knowlton-Smith
Mrs. Carlaretta Knowlton-Smith, age 39, of Helena died Saturday, June 23, 2001.
Mrs. Knowlton-Smith, was born Feb. 1,1962 in Helena, to Willie Marie Knowlton and the late Peter Knowlton Sr.
Mrs. Knowlton-Smith is survived by two daughters, Kanaka Knowlton and Sharenzia Smith, both of Helena; a son, Ronnie Smith Jr. of Helena; her mother, Willie Marie Knowlton of West Helena; her stepfather, Calvin Bryant of West Helena; three brothers, Milton Terry Knowlton of Chicago, Ill, Peter Knowlton Jr. of West Helena and Stacey Knowlton of San Antonio, Texas, and two sisters Lorri Knowlton of West Memphis and LaSwanna Knowlton of Jonesboro.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Martin Knowlton.
Funeral services for Mrs. Knowlton-Smith are scheduled for Saturday, June 30, 2001, at 2 p.m. at True Vine Missionary Baptist Church in West Helena with Rev. L. Whitfield officiating. Stephens Funeral Home in West Helena is in charge of arrangements.
Hunter Paul Brown
Mr. Hunter Paul Brown, age 83, of Forrest City, died Wednesday, April 16, 2001, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-East in Memphis.
Mr. Brown was born March 30, 1918, and was the son of Ruffin T. Brown and Mary Roland Brown. He had been a lifetime resident of St. Francis County and a charter member of Forrest Hills Methodist Church. Mr. Brown served during World War II in the U.S. Air Force and worked for a sign company and the post office prior to retirement.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Dishion Brown of the home; a daughter, Paulette Jones of Batesville; three sisters, Louise Dearrington and Elizabeth Boswell, both of Forrest City and Mildred Stevens of Parsons, Tenn. and two grandchildren. Mr. Brown was preceded in death by one son, David Brown and three brothers, Teel Brown, Fred Brown and Mack Brown.
Funeral services for Mr. Brown were held Wednesday, April 18, 2001, at Morgan Funeral Home with Bro. Floyd Ray, Bro. David Ramsey and Bro. Gary Malone officiating the services under the direction of Morgan Funeral Home.
Helen Roberta Gilbreth
Mrs. Helen Roberta Gilbreth, age 83, of Forrest City, died Saturday, June 2, 2001, at her home.
Mrs. Gilbreth was born Dec. 23, 1917, in Grand Glaze, and was the daughter of C.N. Wood and Ethel Taylor Wood. She lived in Forrest City all of her life, was a housewife and a member of Village Creek Baptist Church.
Mrs. Gilbreth was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Gilbreth in 1979. She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Franks and Vicki Taylor, both of Forrest City; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Gilbreth was also preceded in death by a daughter, Toni Jean Gilbreth in 1943 and a granddaughter, Robin Taylor in 1979.
Visitation for Mrs. Gilbreth will be Monday, June 4, 2001, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 5, 2001, at 2 p.m., at the Village Creek Baptist Church with Bro. Albert Young and Bro. David Yates officiating the service. Burial will follow at Forrest Park Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
Evan Meyer
Mr. Evan Meyer, age 28, of Forrest City, died Thursday, May 31, 2001, at his home.
Mr. Meyer was employed as a mill wright.
He is survived by his mother, Doris Johnston of Forrest City; his father, Howard Meyer; a sister, Toni Heath of Wynne and a brother, Aric Butowsky of Mt. Vernon, Ind.
Funeral services for Mr. Meyer were held Sunday, June 3, 2001, at 2 p.m., at Lindsey Cemetery in Forrest City under the direction of Roller-Citizens Funeral Home of West Memphis.
Frank Jay Burke
Mr. Frank Jay Burke, age 86, of Memphis, formerly of Forrest City, died Wednesday, June 6, 2001, in Memphis.
Mr. Burke was born May 7, 1915, in Helena, the son of Frank Jay Burke Sr., and Nina McMahan Burke. He was a retired businessman and attended First Baptist Church. He was also a member of Sigma Phi Omega, and originally moved to Forrest City to work for Safeway. He married Laurie Williams Burke in 1940. He was a former member of the Forrest City Young Businessman's Club, and was a past owner of Burke and Green Grocery.
He later moved to Memphis where he married Neida Tardy Burke in 1967, and she preceded him in death in 1994.
Survivors include two children, Gay Burke Moskowitz of Memphis and Rujay Burke of Forrest City; a sister Lillian Burke Wilson; two step-children, Dale Tardy Parnell and John Tardy; two grandchildren and four step-grandchildren.
Family visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight, Thursday, June 7, 2001, at Stevens Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 8, 2001, at the Maple Hill Cemetery in Helena with Rev. Rex Darling officiating.
The family requests memorials be made to the Heart Association.
