Eugene W. Ambrose
Mr. Eugene W. Ambrose, age 87, of Forrest City, died Monday at his home in Forrest City.
He was born April 8, 1912, in Harriman, Tenn. a son of Samuel Guy Ambrose and Lucy Wallace Ambrose. He lived in Forrest City most of his life, was a construction contractor, a veteran of World War II and a Baptist.
In 1939 he married Virgie Gately, who survives him along with three sons, Charles W. Ambrose and Donald Ambrose, both of Forrest City and John W. Ambrose of Pineville, La.; a daughter, Dorothy Ambrose Sexton of Millington, Tenn.; two brothers, James Ambrose of Michigan City, Ind. and Samuel Guy Ambrose Jr. of Forrest City; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held tonight from 6 until 9 at the Stevens Funeral Home Chapel. Services for Mr. Ambrose will be held at the Stevens Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, Oct. 20 at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in Forrest Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.

Rosetta Robinson King
Rosetta Robinson King, age 75, of Forrest City, died Saturday, Oct. 16, 1999, at Crestpark Retirement Inn.
She was born Sept. 6, 1924, in Brinkley, and was the daughter of Charl Robinson Sr. and Eula Thompson Robinson.
She is survived by four daughters, Lillie Lane of Forrest City, Helen Pendleton of Palestine, Mildred Woodson and Louvenie King, both of Milwaukee, Wis.; two sons, L.C. King Jr., of Starke, Fla. and Charles E. King of San Jose, Calif.; four sisters, Rachel White of Marion, Ind., Lillie Greer, Lounettie Nalls, Quilla Bobo, all of Chicago, Ill.; two brothers, Charles Robinson Jr. of Marion, Ind. and Horace Robinson of Hughes; 33 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Friday, Oct. 22, 1999, from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. with a wake from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the chapel of Woodhouse Mortuary. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 23, 1999, at 1 p.m. at Pine Tree Church of God in Christ with Elder Nathaniel Pendleton officiating with burial following in Stanley Grove Cemetery under the direction of Woodhouse Mortuary.

Lela Phillips
Lela Phillips, age 92, of Forrest City, died Friday, Oct. 15, 1999, at Crestpark Nursing Home in Forrest City.
She was a homemaker.
She is survived by one sister, Dorothy Johnson of Forrest City and one niece, Alice Triggs of Forrest City.
Visitation will be held Friday, Oct. 22, 1999, from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. at J.E. Kennedy Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 23, 1999, at 2 p.m. at New Light M.B. Church with Rev. Jessie McClure officiating with burial following in Forrest City Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Kennedy Funeral Home.

Texanna Walker
Texanna Walker, age 89, of Detroit, Mich., formerly of Marianna, died Friday, Oct. 15, 1999, at Harper Hospital in Detroit.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Walnut Grove M.B. Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Gloria Forney of Detroit; four sons, Harry Walker, Osborn Walker, Roosevelt Walker and John Wesley Walker, all of Detroit; two sisters, Janie White and Lucille Rowland, both of Marianna; 29 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Walker.
A viewing will be held Saturday, Oct. 23, 1999, from 10:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Walnut Grove M.B. Church. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 23, 1999, at 11 a.m. at Walnut Grove M.B. Church with Rev. Booker Thomas officiating with burial following in Paradise Gardens Cemetery in Edmondson with J.E. Kennedy Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Gladys Frost Smith
Gladys Frost Smith, age 86, of Memphis, formerly of Forrest City, died Thursday, Oct. 21, 1999, at her home.
She was born July 3, 1913, and was the daughter of George Frost and Bertha Smith Frost.
She is survived by four daughters, Mary Bumpas of Mt. Pleasant, Miss., Bertha Hellums of Coldwater, Miss., Margaret Fuller of Olive Branch, Miss. and Charlotte Pankey of Memphis; four sons, Daniel Frost and Bobby Frost, both of Memphis, Robert Frost of Forrest City and George Frost of Elgin, Ill.; one sister, Ann Imbeau of Morrilton; 18 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 23, 1999, at 12 noon at Forest Hill Funeral Home South in Memphis with burial following in Forest Hill Cemetery in Memphis.

Retha Mae Dangeau Bounds
Retha Mae Dangeau Bounds, age 80, of Forrest City, died Monday, October 25, 1999.
She was born March 26, 1919, in Pine Tree and was the daughter of Clarence Stayton Dangeau and Sessie Mae Ellis Dangeau. She lived in the Forrest City area all of her life where she was retired from the Reltoc Manufacturing Company. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Happy Days Club.
She married Guy Bounds in 1942 and he preceded her in death in 1970. She is survived by two daughters, Gylinda Ryan of San Antonio, Texas and Judy Murray of Forrest City; one sister, Marie Dunavion of Tuckerman; two brothers, Orvind Dangeau of Eureka Springs and LeRoy Dangeau of Wynne; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 28, 1999, at 11 a.m. at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Barnishaw Cemetery in Pine Tree. Visitation will be held Wednesday, Oct. 27, 1999, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home.

Clarence W. Meals
Clarence W. Meals, age 95, of Elizabethtown, Ky., died Sunday, Oct. 24, 1999, at North Hardin Health and Rehabilitation Center in Radcliff, Ky.
He was a native of Coldwater, Miss. and a member and former usher at Memorial United Methodist Church. He graduated from the Nashville Auto Diesel College in 1924 and attended Mississippi State University. He was a member of Morrison Masonic Lodge #76 F&AM, a 50 year member at Kosair Shrine Temple in Louisville, where he was past secretary and past master in 1976. He was also a 40 year member of the Order of Eastern Star #34 and a member of Conrad Cates Commandery #37, and Raisok Shrine Club in Elizabethtown. He was a 42 year member of Elliott Council #24 R&SM and was an active volunteer at Wesley Hilltop House. He retired from civil service in 1975 after 40 years of employment.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Violet Mae Meals in 1995.
He is survived by three sons, James C. Meals of St. Louis, Mo., Roy L. Meals of Rineyville, Ky. and C.W. "Bud" Meals of Jeffersonville, Ind.; one daughter, Ruby Dennis of Forrest City; 15 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. with a Masonic service at 7 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 27, 1999, at 11 a.m. at Memorial United Methodist Church with Dr. Jerry Allen Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Hardin Memorial Park under the direction of Brown Funeral Home of Elizabethtown, Ky.
Memorials may be made to the Wesley Hilltop House or Brooks Chapel Cemetery Fund in Coldwater, Miss.

Lucille Lasley Haywood
Lucille Lasley Haywood, age 85, of Gainesville, Ga., died Friday, Oct. 1, 1999, at her home.
She was born in Troy, Tenn., and was a resident of Gainesville since 1979. She was a former resident of Forrest City. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
She is survived by a daughter, Nona Stephens of Gainesville, Ga.; three sons, Read Charles Haywood of Jackson, Miss., James Russell Haywood of Memphis and Thomas Clyde Haywood of Gainesville; a brother, John Thomas Lasley of Columbia, Tenn.; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements were incomplete at press time.
Little-Davenport Funeral Home of Gainesville is in charge of the arrangements.

Thomas Linn Norsworthy
Thomas Linn Norsworthy, age 65, of Widener, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 1999, in Memphis.
He was born Aug. 24, 1934, in Memphis, and was the son of Thomas Lyles Norsworthy and Ida Linn Norsworthy. He was a resident of Widener all of his life where he was a farmer and a member of the Widener Methodist Church. He was a graduate of Columbia Military Academy in Columbia, Tenn., and he attended Arkansas State University. He was retired from the Arkansas National Guard with the rank of Major.
He married Pat Turner in 1956 and she survives him along with two sons, Thomas Turner Norsworthy and Adam Brett Norsworthy, both of Forrest City; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 4, 1999, at 2 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Michael Gordon and Rev. Jack Jackson officiating with burial following in Forrest Park Cemetery in Forrest City under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.

Arminta Ailene Danley Wilson
Arminta Ailene Danley Wilson, age 74, of Wynne, died Thursday, Sept. 30, 1999, at the Cross County Hospital.
She was born July 5, 1925, in Garner, to Celus and Bessie Rodgers Danley. She married Leory Wilson in 1947, and he preceded her in death in 1973. She enjoyed sewing, reading, gardening, and was a member of the Jehovah's Witness Kingdom Hall in Forrest City.
She is survived by three sisters, Verla Hobson of West Helena, Rachel Worthington and Mae Price , both of Wynne; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Rodger Wilson.
Services were held on Saturday, Oct. 2, at Bell Cemetery with Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Jehovah's Witness Kingdom Hall in Forrest City.
