J. Rayburn May
Mr. J. Rayburn May, age 68, of Forrest City, died Monday, Oct. 15, 2001, at his home.
Mr. May was born June 21, 1933, in Forrest City, and was the son of John R. May and Elven Voss May. He lived in St. Francis County most of his life, was a retired construction worker, a veteran of the National Guard and was a Presbyterian.
Mr. May is survived by his wife, Kathryn May of Forrest City; two sons, John Rayburn May, Jr. and Mark Dwain May, both of Forrest City; two daughters, Janet House and Lynn Parker, both of Mountain Home; two brothers, Mitchell May of Forrest City and Marshall May of Red Banks, Miss.; two sisters, Charlene Rushing of Forrest City and Phylliss Nance of Searcy; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Mr. May will be held Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2001, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 18, 2001, at 10:30 a.m., at Stevens Funeral Home with burial following in Forrest Park Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Billy Gene Beshears
Mr. Billy Gene Beshears, age 64, of Wynne, died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2001, near Hardy.
Mr. Beshears was born July 9, 1937, in Heber Springs and was the son of Press Beshears and Elner Mae Wingate Beshears. He was a resident of Cross County most of his life, he worked for Tri-Mac Trucking Co. in Memphis for the past eight years, he had been a 21-year employee of Henson Lumber Co. in Wynne and also worked at the Coors Rice Mill in Weiner. Mr. Beshears was a 32nd degree Mason, a Shriner and a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his father and is survived by one son, Don Beshears of Wynne; three daughters, Shelby Mitchell of Wynne, Sandy Mashburn of Cherry Valley and Neva Myers of Brinkley; his mother, Elner Mae Wingate Beshears of McCrory; five sisters, Sue Matthews of Greenville, Miss., Dorothy Garland Kirkland of Winnie, Texas; Martha Mann of Newport, Mary Smith of Vanndale and Betty Woolbright of Beedeville; Six brothers, Howard Beshears of Russellville, Virgil Beshears of McCrory, Eddie Beshears of Rosie, Gene Beshears, Albert Beshears and Luther Beshears, all of Beedeville and seven grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday, Oct. 18, 2001, from 7 to 9 p.m., at the Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home in Wynne. Funeral services for Mr. Beahears will be held Friday, Oct. 19, 2001, at 2 p.m., at the Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel in Wynne with Rev. Dan Minton officiating the service. Burial will follow in Eight Mile Cemetery at Beedeville under the direction of Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home of Wynne and McCrory.
The family requests memorials be made to the Shriner's Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.

Mollie E. Moore
Mrs. Mollie E. Moore, age 82, of Forrest City, died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2001, at Baptist Memorial Hospital -East, in Memphis.
Mrs. Moore, born March 19, 1919, in Caldwell. was a retired school teacher.
She is survived by a brother, Clarence Edward Euwing of Palmsdale, Calif.
Visitation for Mrs. Moore will be held Friday, Oct. 19, 2001, from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Clay Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001, at 11 a.m., at St. Luke A.M.E. Church, with Rev. E.J. Outley officiating. Burial will follow in Casteel Cemetery under the direction of Clay Funeral Home.

Jimmie Ray White
Mr. Jimmie Ray White, age 47, of Forrest City, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001, at Sinai Grace Hospital in Detroit, Mich.
Mr. White was born April 29, 1954, in Forrest City.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy White of the home; a son, Nicholas Wilson of Dallas, Texas; a daughter, Vanity Wright of Forrest City; a step-mother, Susie White of Forrest City; three brothers, Elbert White Jr. of Russellville, James McDaniel of Marianna and Charles White of Detroit, Mich.; six sisters, Pearlie Mae Anderson, Elnora Blackwell and Joyce Martin, all of Muskegon, Mich., Bettie Brown of Detroit, Mich, Jeerlean Nesbitt of Forrest City and Teresa Hancock of Carrolton, Texas.
Visitation for Mr. White will be held Friday, Oct. 19, 2001, from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Clay Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001, at 3 p.m., at Christ Temple Pentecostal Church with the Elder Thomas Holloway officiating. Burial will follow in Stanley Grove Cemetery under the direction of Clay Funeral Home.

James William Vinson
Mr. James William Vinson, age 33, of Forrest City, died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2001, at his home.
Mr. Vinson was born Feb. 7, 1968, in Almyra and was the son of Phyllis Louise Watkins Vinson. He lived in Forrest City the last nine years, was a correctional officer at the Federal Correctional Institution-Forrest City and was in the Arkansas National Guard.
Mr. Vinson married Rebecca Robertson in 1993 and she survives him along with a daughter, Erin Vinson of Dewitt; a sister, Angela Jackson of Dewitt; a brother, Kyle Vinson of Ozark and his maternal grandmother, Katherine Watkins of Dewitt.
Visitation for Mr. Vinson will be held Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will take place on Sunday, Oct. 21, 2001, at 2 p.m., at Stevens Funeral Home with Rev. Dustin Lemke and Orville Wilson officiating the service. Burial will follow in Loughridge Cemetery in Colt under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Helen Lee Fowler Joyner
Mrs. Helen Lee Fowler Joyner, age 90, of Brinkley, died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2001, at her home.
Mrs. Joyner was born Feb. 13, 1911 in Almyra and was the daughter of Ami Warner Fuller and Martha Graham Jackson Fuller. She had been a school teacher in Almyra and Yoder, a bookkeeper in Brinkley and had managed and owned motels in Brinkley. Mrs. Joyner was also an active member of the First Baptist Church of Brinkley.
Mrs. Joyner was preceded in death by two husbands, James Carroll Fowler in 1962 and Herbert Joyner in 1996; one son, James Warren Fowler in 1945 and one brother, Glenn Fuller in 1981.
She is survived by one son, Steven Jay Fowler of Conway; one daughter, Martha Frances Duke of Forrest City; one-step son, Lee Joyner of Memphis; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and six step-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001, at First Baptist Church of Brinkley. Burial followed in Almyra Cemetery at Almyra under the direction of Fowler Funeral Home of Brinkley.
The family request memorials be sent to the First Baptist Church of Brinkley or to the Arkansas Baptist Children's Homes and Family Ministry, P.O. Box 552, Little Rock, Ar., 72203.

Harvey James Roeder
Mr. Harvey James Roeder, age 70, of Earle, died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001, at the Med in Memphis.
Mr. Roeder was employed by the Roeder Construction Company and he served on the Earle Fire Department. He was also a member of the Earle Baptist Church.
Mr. Roeder was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Katherine Roeder.
He is survived by one daughter, Ramona Williams of Broken Arrow, Okla.; three sons, Jim Roeder of Earle, Ric Roeder of Forrest City and Robin Roeder of West Memphis; two sisters, Edna Leaptrot of Jacksonville and Juanita Martish of Mountain Home; two brothers, Floyd Roeder of Little Rock and Bobby Roeder of Earle; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services for Mr. Roeder will be held Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2001, at 10 a.m., at Earle Baptist Church in Earle. Burial will follow in Crittenden Memorial Park in Marion under the direction of Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in West Memphis.
The family request memorials be sent to Earle Baptist Church or Harwood Center School, 711 Jefferson Ave., Memphis, Tenn. 38105.

F. Eugenia Brewer
Mrs. F. Eugenia Brewer, aged 47, of Forrest City, died Friday, Oct. 19, 2001, at her home.
She was born Oct. 16, 1954, in Covington, Tenn., the daughter of Wallace F. Lawrence and Etta Jean Wall Lawrence. She made her home in Forrest City all her life. She was a housewife and a member of Midway Baptist Church.
In 1977, she married James A. Brewer, who preceded her in death in 1999. She is survived by two daughters, Jean E. Vick and R. Leella Hutcherson, both of Forrest City; a sister, Debra J. Edenfield of Bradenton, Fla.; two brothers, James E. Lawrence of North Topsail Beach, N.C.; and George R. Lawrence of Forrest City. She was preceded in death by a son, Karl Cowan Chambers.
Funeral services for Mrs. Brewer were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 22, 2001, at Stevens Funeral Home, with Rev. Ron Coats officiating. Burial followed at Bell Cemetery, under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Marilyn L. Johnston
Mrs. Marilyn L. Johnston, aged 73, of Elaine, died Saturday at the Helena
Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Johnston was born April 23, 1928, in Forrest City, and was he daughter of Louise Laws and Mammie Thompson Laws. She lived in St. Francis and Phillips counties most of her life. She was a past bookkeeper for Delta Hardware in Elaine, was the co-owner of the Kountry Kitchen in Elaine from 1983 until 1993, and was a member of the Elaine United Methodist Church.
In 1960, Mrs. Johnson married Charles E. Johnston, and he survives her. She was preceded in death by a son, David Paul Brown, in 1955. She is survived by a son, Eddie Johnston of Elaine; a daughter, Judy Johnson of Memphis, two brothers, James Laws and W.L. Laws, both of Forrest City; two sisters, Christine Chandler of Wynne and Aline Bryan of Forrest City; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Monday, Oct. 22, 2001, from 5 until 7 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home. Services for Mrs. Johnston will be held at the Elaine United Methodist Church at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2001, with a graveside service to be held at the Hughes Cemetery in Forrest City at 3:30 p.m. Stevens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The family requests that memorials be made to the Elaine United Methodist Church.
Daylon Cortez Lattimore, one-month-old, of Forrest City, died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2001, at his home.
He was born Sept. 13, 2001, in Forrest City, and was the son of Kenneth Lattimore and Marquetta Burnside, both of Forrest City.
He is survived by his parents and three brothers, Keyontae Smith of Forrest City, Kenneth Lattimore Jr., of Wynne and Ja-Marie Lattimore of Dallas, Texas.
A graveside funeral service was held on Sunday, Oct. 21, 2001, at Forrest City Cemetery with Rev. John Strong officiating the service under the direction of Clay Funeral Home.
