R.L. Choate Sr.
DARDANELLE -- Rosmyr L. Bos Choate Sr., 89, of Chickalah died Sunday April 18, 1999, at the Heart Hospital at Little Rock.
Born Oct. 21, 1909, at Chickalah a son of the late Roscoe and Myrtle Dacus Choate, he was a farmer and retired pipefitter for Bechtel Corp. at Arkansas Nuclear One. He was a 32nd degree Mason of the Scottish Rite and a member of Local 454 Pipefitters and Steamfitters Union and the Chickalah United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Tryl Carpenter Choate; two sons and daughters-in-law, R.L. Bud and Jane Choate of Chickalah and Brad and Suzanne Choate of Little Rock; a daughter, Lynda Terry of Chickalah; a sister, Judy Powley of Chickalah; five grandchildren, Lee Terry of North Little Rock, John Choate of Russellville, Lori Ledford of Chickalah, Jill Pool of Springfield, Mo., and Katie Choate of Little Rock; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Cornwell Chapel by the Rev. Raymond Hillis. Burial will be in Chickalah Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Service.
Pallbearers include Bud Choate, Brad Choate, Larry Terry, Lee Terry, John Choate and Bobby Carpenter.
Memorials may be made to Chickalah United Methodist Church, Route 2, Dardanelle 72834.

Jophelia Johnson
DARDANELLE -- Jophelia Johnson, 85, of Dardanelle died Saturday, April 17, 1999, at Saint Marys Regional Medical Center.
She was born Feb. 15, 1914, at Blackwell to Shedreick and Minnie Moore Gay and was a member of Bethel AME Church.
Survivors include six sons, Jimmy Johnson of Russellville, Jerry Johnson of California, Wendell and Andy Johnson of Dardanelle, Claudius Johnson of Little Rock and Thomas Johnson of Richwood, Texas; three daughters, Jean Thompson of Southfield, Mich., Verna William of Kansas City, Kan., and Linda Thompson of Dardanelle; a brother, Robert Gay of Michigan; a sister, Mary Moody of California; 35 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. today at Cornwell Chapel by the Rev. Casper Pinkney and the Rev. Kenneth Kelleybrew. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Service.

Thomas Hutchings
Thomas L. Hutchings, 93, a resident of Stella Manor Nursing Home and formerly of Dover, died Sunday, April 18, 1999, at Saint Marys Regional Medical Center.
Born Sept. 2, 1905, at Nathan, Ark., to Frank and Laura Lango Hutchings, he was a retired farmer and school bus driver and a member of Dover Free Will Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by two wives, Annie Couch Hutchings and Pearl Berry Hutchings, and three sisters, Nettie Lamb, Madie Alford and Susie Alford.
Survivors include a brother, Mack Hutchings of Benton; a sister, Carrie Conatser of Murfreesboro; and several nephews and nieces.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Biggs Chapel United Methodist Church at Nathan by the Rev. Alle Terry. Burial will be in Biggs Chapel Cemetery at Nathan by Latimer Funeral Service of Murfreesboro.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Humphrey Funeral Home.

Jess Lee Elrod
DANVILLE Jess Lee Elrod, 86, of Benton died Sunday, April 18, 1999.
Born Feb. 8, 1913 to James and Robert Lulabell Adkins Elrod in Des Arc, he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps In the 1930s and was assigned to the C.C. Camp at Aly. He worked for the Studebaker Automobile Corp. in Vernon, Calif., and was president of Local 255 of the United Autoworkers Union. He was also a deacon in the Lynwood Baptist Church and lecturer for the Lynwood Masonic Lodges of Lynwood, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Selma Linda Lewis Elrod; a brother, Louis Elrod; and a sister, Ruth Caputo.
Survivors include his son, Erby Lee Elrod of Danville; a brother and sister-in-law, Harvey and Anna Mae Elrod of Calif.; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Clete and Pat Buffle of Clinton and Naomi Cornelson of Homer, Alaska; and many nephews and nieces.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Cornwell Funeral Chapel in Danville by the Rev. Dan Oslin. Burial will be at the New Bethel Cemetery.

Anita Paul Melrose
DANVILLE Anita Paul Melrose, 77, of Russellville died Sunday, April 18, 1999 at her home.
Born March 25, 1922, in Healdton, Okla., to the late James F. and Cora Bell Campbell Paul, she was a homemaker and mother.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, David Russell Wright.
Survivors include one daughter, Vivian Decker of Russellville; three sisters, Jewel Holstein of Russellville, Lois Davidson of Sacramento, Calif., and Evelyn Vaughn of Albuquerque, N.M.; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Rest Haven Memorial Park in Russellville by Pastor Roger Shields.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Cornwell Funeral Home in Dardanelle.

Lisa Brown
Lisa Markle Brown, 39, of Los Angeles, daughter of Anita S. Markle of Russellville, died Tuesday, April 27, 1999.
She was a 1977 graduate of Edmonds (Wash.) High School and a 1987 graduate of the University of Puget Sound School of Law at Tacoma, Wash. With a masters degree in special education, Mrs. Brown chose to work with children who had special disabilities.
She was preceded in death by her father, Richard A. Markle.
Other survivors include her husband, Don Brown; two brothers, Eric Markle of Tampa, Fla., and Curtis Markle of Russellville; a nephew, Joseph Markle of Columbia, S.C.; and a niece, Candice Markle of Russellville.
Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Forest Lawn Cemetery at Hollywood, Calif.
Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church building fund in Russellville or a favorite charity.

Daniel F. Price
Daniel F. Price Jr., 77, of Russellville died Wednesday, April 28, 1999, at his home.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Shinn Funeral Service.

Eula Cecil
CLARKSVILLE -- Eula Blaylock Cecil, 90, of Clarksville died Wednesday, April 28, 1999, in Johnson Regional Medical Center.
Born Jan. 4, 1909, at Prairie Grove a daughter of the late Robert E. Lee and Suzann Lasater Hampton, she was the widow of Dolan Cecil and a member of the First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was a retired telephone operator and manager of the GTE Telephone Co. office for several years.
Survivors include three nephews, Alton Fay Vaughn of Boise, Idaho, James Troy Hampton of Delaware (Logan County) and Bobby Hampton; and four nieces, Glendine Smead of Delaware, Frances Hulen of Los Angeles, Mildred Garrett of Midland, Texas, and Ruth Dobbs of Dardanelle.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery by Hardwicke Funeral Service.

Glenna Finney
Glenna G. Massingill Finney, 90, a resident of Winfield, Kan., for nearly 65 years, died Wednesday, April 28, 1999, at Good Samaritan Village.
She was born Aug. 19, 1908, on a farm near Hattieville, at Old Hickory, and later attended Morrilton High School. She was a longtime member of First Christian Church in Winfield and was affiliated with many professional, social and cultural organizations.
Survivors include her sons, Ward Jackson Finney of West Memphis, Charles D. Finney and wife Ida, and Carl R. Finney and wife Gilberte, all of Winfield, Guy H. Finney and wife Willa of Wichita, Kan., and John Finney of Los Indios, Texas; a sister, Grace Mae West of Brentwood, Calif.; 14 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the funeral home from 1 to 9 p.m. Friday.
A memorial has been established in her name for First Christian Church in Winfield. Contributions may be made through the church or funeral home.
