Floyd C. Manly, 74, of Russellville died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004, at his home.
Born Jan. 22, 1930, at Detroit to Floyd and Sophia Szymanski Manly, he was an Air Force veteran of the Korean conflict and was stationed in Japan with a fighter-bomber squadron. He was owner-operator of the Subway restaurants in Russellville for 20 years; a former field engineer for Bechtel Power Corp.; president of the R.C. Modelers Club in the 1980s; former owner of a photography shop in Melbourne, Fla.; and worked with Boeing on the NASA moon shot for four years. He was a columnist for Model Airplane News in 1982 and 1983 and also wrote articles for the R.C. Modeler Magazine. He designed model airplanes that were printed and sold by R.C. Modeler Magazine. He enjoyed duplicate bridge, poker, motorcycling, snowmobiling and gun collecting. He was an avid Russellville Cyclones football fan, attending the games on his scooter, which he rode around the track watching the games and picking up footballs. He was preceded in death by his father; his stepfather and his mother, Frank and Sophia Rynkowski; and a brother, Robert Manly.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Dona L. Manly of Russellville; a son and daughter-in-law, T. Alex and Jennifer Manly of Clarksville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa L. and Kim Altman of Dover and Laura J. and Bruce Page of Sallisaw, Okla.; his mother-in-law, Hazel I. Stern of Russellville; a brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Migdalia Rynkowski of Albuquerque, N.M.; two sisters, Karen Hicks of Monroe, Mich., and Linda Steffes of Farewell, Mich.; eight grandchildren, Derek, Kyle and Ashley Altman, Ryan Page, Audra Page Meahl, Sierra, Genevieve and Sophia Manly; three great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church in Russellville, officiated by the Rev. Mackey Yokem. Arrangements are by Shinn Funeral Service.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mr. Manlys Wednesday night poker buddies and Gaines Smith.
Visitation will follow the memorial service Tuesday in the fellowship hall of First United Methodist Church.

Kenneth Salerno
Kenneth Wayne Salerno, 50, of Pottsville went to be with the Lord on Friday, Dec. 31, 2004.
He was born March 25, 1954, in Oakland, Calif., to Armando and Pauline Flower Salerno. He was preceded in death by his twin brothers, Joe and Paul Salerno.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Glynda Salerno of Perryville; a brother, Mark Salerno Sr. of Pottsville; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Armanda Salerno Meyer of Virginia Beach, Va., and Beverly and Pete Walling of Pleasanton, Calif.; two nephews, Chris Meyer of Virginia and Mark Salerno Jr. of California; four nieces, Cassandra Johnson and Anna Pauline Martin of Virginia, Jodie and Tracy Walling of California; and two loving aunts, Francis Jones and Ruth Flower of Pottsville.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Lemley Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Terry Anthony officiating. Burial will be in Bowden Cemetery by Lemley Funeral Service.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Jim Kitterman
Jim Kitterman, 78, of Russellville died Friday, Dec. 31, 2004, at Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock.
Born Jan. 18, 1926 in Destamon, Texas, to the late James and Keitha Blanche Hanon Kitterman, he married Geraldine Celeste Kitterman on Feb. 14, 1970. He was a Navy Seabees veteran of World War II and a self-employed painter. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Troy Kitterman, and a sister, Zona.
Survivors include two sons, Clifford W. Kitterman and his wife, Sandy, of Houston, Texas; James O. Kitterman Jr. of Iraq; a daughter-in-law, Berta Kitterman of Russellville; three grandchildren and their spouses, Kit and Cindy Kitterman of Russellville, Kim and Jerryl Davis of Dover, and Toby and Jamie Kitterman of Houston; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Violet Synder of Larned, Kan.; and a brother, Ivan Kitterman of Phoenix.
Cremation arrangements will be made by Humphrey Funeral Service.
Emma Lee Lucas
Emma Lee Lucas, 86, of Hector died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004, at her home.
She was born Dec. 10, 1918, in Maverick, Texas, to the late Benjamin and Angela Caperton Reeves. She was a homemaker, an honorary volunteer with the American Red Cross in Odessa, Texas; and a member of the Hector First Assembly of God. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Blueford Lucas; two sons, Vernan Carl Lucas and Joseph Bartley Lucas; two brothers; four sisters; and a grandson, Jeffrey Scott Lucas.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Arthur Duncan of Hector; a son and daughter-in-law, William Wesley and Merrell Lucas of Diana, Texas; her grandchildren and their spouses, Charlotte and Mark Hiett of Dardanelle, Kenneth and Kim Duncan of Hector, Wesley and Brenda Lucas of Pampa, Texas, and Rodney, Todd and Cary Lucas, all of Louisiana; her great-grandchildren, Randall and Robert Hiett of Dardanelle, Jacob, Leanna and Clayton Duncan of Hector, Tasha and Tiffany Lucas of Pampa, Texas; and Aaron Scooter Lucas of Texas; four great-great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Melba Jo and Don Farris of Odessa, Texas; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Hector First Assembly of God, officiated by the Revs. Dean Caldwell and Charles King. Burial will be at Walnut Grove Cemetery by Humphrey Funeral Service.
Pallbearers will be Pete Hill, Kyle Burris, Dillon Caruth, Ricky Parks, Trent Henderson, Craig Coffman, Carrol Ingram and Joe Deavours.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Wendell Wald
DARDANELLE Wendell Ray Wald, 64, of North Little Rock died Friday, Dec. 31, 2004, at Baptist Medical Center.
He was born April 13, 1940, at Chickalah. He was preceded in death by his father, Earnest Wald; and a sister, Lawana Jennings.
Survivors are his wife, Anita Sloss Wald of North Little Rock; mother, Vorene Wald of Dardanelle; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Tommy and Shelia Wald of North Little Rock and Allen Wald of Mount Vernon; two sisters, Betty Warlick of Oklahoma and Linda Jennen of Fort Smith; four grandsons, Jesse Allen, Dustin and Aaron Wald, all of Conway, and T.J. Wald of North Little Rock; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Cornwell Chapel in Dardanelle with the Rev. Jim King officiating. Burial will be at Brearley Cemetery. Arrangements are by Cornwell Funeral Home of Dardanelle.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Veryl Stricklin
CLARKSVILLE Veryl Stricklin, 57, of Coal Hill died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2005 at Johnson Regional Medical Center in Clarksville.
She was a park attendant for the U.S. Corps of Engineers at Piney Bay and also worked at Circle 64 Store in Coal Hill. She attended the Coal Hill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ira Lee and Martha Elizabeth Vernon Bussey.
Survivors include her husband, Elmer Stricklin; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jean and David Nagengast of Flint, Mich., and Irene and Kenneth Sisk of Coal Hill; a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry Don and Laura Stricklin of Coal Hill; two sisters, Beatrice Moelander of Huntley, Ill., and Bonita Bussey of West Dundee, Ill.; a brother, Tony Bussey of West Dundee; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Coal Hill Baptist Church with the Revs. David Qualls and Gerald Morris officiating. Burial will be in Hartman Cemetery by Roller-Cox Funeral Home of Clarksville.
Pallbearers:
Active Billy Scarberry, Ryan Stricklin, Darrell Stricklin, Mike Guinnip, Randy Stricklin and Dustin Moffit.
Honorary Daniel Moffit, Jason Stricklin and Alan Stricklin.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Verna Gable
CLARKSVILLE Verna Beatrice Gable, 77, of Lamar died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004, at Johnson Regional Medical Center in Clarksville.
She was a retired factory worker and a Baptist. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Girty Barnett Clark.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Gerald and Mona Gable of Clarksville, Victor and Teresa Hawkins of Boaz, Ala., Earl William Whitman of Boaz; and Robert L. Gable Jr. of Lamar; two sisters, Geraldine Oles and Loretta Porter, both of Clarksville; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Roller-Cox Chapel in Clarksville with the Rev. Frank Shook officiating. Burial will be at West Mount Zion Cemetery in Hartman. Arrangements are by Roller-Cox Funeral Home of Clarksville.

Active Bobby Clark, Carl Porter, Johnny Sanders, Dale Dabbs, Brian Crosno and John Blackburn.
Honorary Brian Cole, David Newton and Paul Whitehead.
