CLARKSVILLE — Alden Joe Cowan, 81, of Salus died Saturday, Aug. 13, 2005, at his home.
He was a farmer, a member of the Masonic Lodge at Swain for more than 30 years and enjoyed riding four wheelers. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Betty Cowan; four brothers, Walter, Brock, Abe and Jack Cowan; and five sisters, Erna, Minnie, Mattie, Bell and Alpha.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Rose Cowan; a son, Perry Cowan and wife, Beverly, of Broken Arrow, Okla.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Salus Church with the Rev. Clayton Riley officiating. Burial will be in Case Cemetery by Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Pallbearers include James Parsons, Bo Mack, Dude Hammons, Brett Cook, Jeff Fouts and Dale Cowan.
Larry Terry
Larry Ray Terry of Dardanelle died Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2005, at Veterans Administration Hospital in Little Rock.
Born Aug. 29, 1945, in Dover, he was the son of the late William “Bill” Allen and Ruby Jane Terry. He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War receiving a medal for bravery while serving on the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Kitty Hawk.
Survivors include a son, William Lee Terry and wife, Christy, of North Little Rock; a daughter, Lori Jane Terry of Russellville; two grandchildren, Jessica and Clay Terry of North Little Rock; three sisters and their husbands, Norma and Bringle Jennings of North Little Rock, Peggy and Dale Hobbs of Springdale, and twin sister, Wanda Faye and Jimmy Turner Sr. of Dover; and nieces and nephews.
At his request he was cremated.
He was loved and will be missed by many friends and family.
Woodrow Taylor
CLARKSVILLE — Woodrow Taylor, 87, of Lamar died Sunday, Aug. 14, 2005, at Countryside Manor Nursing Home.
He was a farmer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mollie Lee Taylor; and his parents, Henry Lee and Onie Mae Butler Taylor.
Survivors include two sons, James Pope of Montrose and Carl Pope of Peru, Ind.; three daughters, Betty Cain of Lake Village, Linda Henson of Fort Worth, Texas, and Nelda Gilmer of Clarksville; three brothers, Tommy Taylor and Jack Taylor of Springhill, La., and Travis Taylor of Baltimore, Md.; three sisters, Kally Watson of Santa Rosa, Calif., Ally Brannon of Heber Springs and Erma Maxwell of Memphis, Tenn.; 26 grandchildren; and 55 great-grandchildren.
The body was cremated. Arrangements are by Roller-Cox Funeral Service.
Rayborn Henderson
Rayborn L. Henderson, 31, of Pottsville, died Friday, Aug. 12, 2005, in Parsons, Kan.
He was born Sept. 10, 1973, in Danville and attended the Highway 247 Community Church. His mother, Jean Henderson, and a brother, Michael "Shorty" Henderson, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Tammy Henderson; twosons, Jason and Brandon Henderson; two daughters, Paige and Ashley Henderson; his father and stepmother, Leon and Johnnie Mae Henderson of Russellville; five brothers and sisters-in-law, Gregory Allen and Stephanie Henderson of Atkins, Clayborn Gean and Kimberly Henderson of Pottsville, Tim and A'nette Bewley, Ted and Cathern Bewley, and Ricky Jay Bewley, all of Russellville; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Patricia and Dennis Stubblefield of Dardanelle, and LuAnn Innis of Little Rock; a grandchild, Trapper Allen Long; and 20 nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. today at Lemley Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Roy Cain, the Rev. Richard Smithson and the Rev. Robert O'Bryant officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park by Lemley Funeral Service.
Pallbearers will be Robert "Taz" Gregory Jr., Mike Staggs, Steve Fryar, Ronnie Joe Foster , Herb Pruitt and James "Bear" Cook.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Scott, Mike Biffle and Tony Lee.
Carlos Goff
Carlos Loy Goff, 78, of Houston, Texas, died Thursday, Aug. 11, 2005.
He was born March 13, 1927, at Poughkeepsie, Ark., son of the late Archie Nolan and Ollie Murr McCracken Goff, an Air Force veteran of World War II and a member of the Church of Christ. He was a building contractor.
Survivors include a son, Carlos Goff Jr. of Atlanta, Ga.; a daughter, Connie Goff of Russellville; a brother, A.W. Goff of Russellville; three sisters, Elzada Bowers of Easley, S.C., Nola Mulligan of Napa, Calif., and Naomi Fannin of Fair Oaks, Calif.; two grandsons, Alexander and Jonathan Goff; and a great-grandson, Nolan Goff.
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. today at Crestlawn Memorial Park Cemetery at Conway with David Goff officiating. Arrangements are by Roller-McNutt Funeral Home of Conway.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
William Crouch
CLARKSVILLE — William H. Crouch III, 76, of Clarksville died Monday, Aug. 15, 2005, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
Born March 1, 1929, at Muskogee, Okla., he was the son of the late William H. II and Margaret Crouch, a graduate of Muskogee High School and North East College at Tahlequah, Okla. He was a retired elementary school teacher for the Muskogee Schools and a Marine Corps veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Wilai Crouch.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Carter Cemetery by Hardwicke Funeral Service.
Pallbearers include Songphol Nitithanyavatana, Wanchai Damrongsanti, Gary Perry, Aaron Perry, Victor Perry and Gary Perry Jr.
Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Ruddy Short Sr.
Ruddy G. Short Sr., 63, of Russellville, died Friday, Aug. 12, 2005, at Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center.
A son of the late Ardy Dale and Louise Black Short, he was born June 18, 1942, in Vallejo, Calif. He owned and operated his own truck and trailer, which he leased to Universal Trucking Company, and had formerly served in the Arkansas National Guard. He attended the House of Praise. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Ricky Short.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Short; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gene and Kay Short of Greenwood, and Wilson and Adrienne Short of Springdale; a brother and sister-in-law, Eddy and Brenda Short of Hot Springs; two grandchildren, Austin and Brooke Short, both of Greenwood; and a special unborn grandchild.
Graveside service and burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Hot Springs by the Rev. Bob Parker and the Rev. Lynn Wilson. Arrangements are by Shinn Funeral Service.
Active pallbearers will be Gene and Wilson Short, Scott Massie, Harrell Beckwith, Delvis Garner and Delbert Garner.
Memorials may be made to the House of Praise on Highway 7, north of Russellville.
Ken Kuras
Ken Kuras, 46, of Russellville, died Saturday, Aug. 13, 2005, at his home.
He was born July 11, 1959, in Milwaukee, Wisc.
He is survived by his wife, Marlene Kuras; his parents, Robert and Joan Kuras of Russellville; a stepson, Timothy Dollar of Russellville; a stepdaughter, Sarah Robinson of Dardanelle; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Gary and Karie Kuras of Dardanelle; Jim and Wendy Kuras of New Strawn, Kan.; and Tom Kuras of Dardanelle; his nephews and nieces, Tiffany, Traci, T. J., Tony, Chynna, Nick and Brooke Kuras; many friends, and, last but not least, his dog, Ginger.
He was a professional surveyor and had been employed by Crafton Tull and Associates for 28 years. He was a member and officer of the Arkansas Society of Professional Surveyors.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. today at St. John’s Catholic Church by Father William F. Thomas. Burial will be in the Rest Haven Memorial Park by Shinn Funeral Service.
Active pallbearers will be George and David Garrison, Timothy Dollar, David Corbin, and T. J. and Tony Kuras.
The family received friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Artie Kinslow
Artie Epperson Kinslow, 94, of Hector, died Monday, Aug. 15, 2005 at Legacy Lodge Nursing Home in Russellville.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at the Caglesville Community Church at Caglesville. Burial will be in the Rock Springs Cemetery at Hector under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
