Rene Flanagin
Lona Orene 'Rene' Flanagin, 86, of Mountain Home, formerly of Russellville, died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2005, at Hospice House in Mountain Home.
The daughter of Willis and Lavenia Poynter Berry, she was born Nov. 26, 1919, in Dover. She worked for many years as an S&H; Green Stamp hostess in Russellville. She was a volunteer at the BRMC Bargain Box and a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Scott 'Dugan' Flanagin; her parents; a brother, Ralph Berry; and a sister, Maxine Jones.
Survivors include two sons, Randy Flanagin and wife, Neilla, of Mountain Home and Jimmy Flanagin of Fort Smith; four grandchildren, Scott Flanagin of Mountain Home, Adrian Flanagin of Fayetteville, Kim Vann of Oklahoma and Laura Carden of Maumelle; and four great-grandchildren, Isabel Flanagin of Fayetteville, Luke and Anna Carden of Maumelle, and Cassidy Flanagin of Mountain Home.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Humphrey Chapel with the Rev. David Carpenter officiating. Burial will be in McFadden Cemetery at Dover by Humphrey Funeral Service.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Hospice House, c/o Hospice of the Ozarks, Mountain Home, Ark. 72653.

Henry Forehand Jr.
Henry Forehand Jr., 77, of Russellville, formerly of Mena, died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2005, in Russellville.
The son of Henry and Blanch Meredith Forehand, he was born Dec. 9, 1928, in Ink, Ark. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was in the lumber industry most of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents; and four sisters, Monet Hattabaugh, Laurie Sellers, Ruby Holland and Mary Gertrude LaCava.
Survivors include a son, Henry Glen Forehand of Arizona; three daughters, Susie McLeod of Arizona, Vivian Kay Dore of New Hampshire and Karen Lowe of California; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three sisters, Margaret Cunningham of Bryant, Elsie Callihan of Mena and Betty Hilton of Russellville; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will plan a memorial service at a later date.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service.

Jerry McNeese
DARDANELLE - Jerry L. 'Jerl' McNeese, 61, of Dardanelle died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2005, in Little Rock.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Brearley Cemetery. Arrangements are by Cornwell Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 6-8 tonight.

Chester Johnson
Chester Boyce Johnson, 87, of Long Beach, Calif., passed away Saturday, Dec. 24, 2005.
He was born Feb. 18, 1918, at Scottsville to S.C. and Ollie Meek Johnson. He was an Army veteran serving in the Battle of the Bulge and was retired from Smith Tool Co. after 42 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Lena Johnson; his parents; two brothers, Lelan Johnson and Stanford Johnson; and a sister, Leo Light.
Survivors include two daughters, Lanette Shook and husband, Dennis, and Linda Fisher and husband, Les, all of California; a brother, Joe L. Johnson of Russellville; grandchildren, Jason and Matthew Shook, and Jennifer and David Fisher, all of California; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Parks & Mortuaries in Cypress, Calif., at a later date.

Gary Wheeler
Gary L. Wheeler, 57, of Knoxville died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2005, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
He was a construction worker and served in the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam War. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jewel Inez Wheeler; and a brother, Bill Wheeler.
Survivors include his wife, Annie Wheeler; two sons, James and William Wheeler of Arkansas; three daughters, Charlene Brown, Victoria Timmons and Cindy Roberts of Kansas; his father, Mark Wheeler and wife, Marie, of Branch; four brothers; seven sisters; and numerous grandchildren.
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at East Point Cemetery. Arrangements are by Humphrey Funeral Service.
Visitation will be 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Edward Potter
Edward Lee Potter, 66, of Dover died Friday, Dec. 23, 2005, at his home.
He was born Nov. 29, 1939, in Cassopolis, Mich., worked in construction in various locations throughout the United States and until recently was employed by ConAgra Foods in Russellville. He attended Phoenix Free Will Baptist Church on Buck Mountain. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed the outdoors.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Lou Potter; a son, James E. Potter of Dover; daughters, Chris Ramey and Loretta Potter of Dover, and Dallas Potter of Omega; and a brother, Levi Potter Jr. of Cassopolis, Mich.

Bob Peak
DARDANELLE - Robert E. Peak, 50, of London died Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2005, at his home.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Cornwell Chapel. Burial will be in Brearley Cemetery. Arrangements are by Cornwell Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday.

Mitchel W. 'Pete' Godwin
WARREN - Mitchel W. 'Pete' Godwin, 83, of Warren died Saturday, Dec. 10, 2005, at Bradley County Medical Center.
He was born April 15, 1922, at Warren and was a son of the late Mitchel Washington Godwin and Lura Grubbs Godwin. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Thad, Bill and Kenneth Godwin; and sister, Hazel Baker.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Broach Godwin, whom he married Aug. 26, 1944, at Warren; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Rosemary Godwin of Fort Worth, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and Danny Taylor of Russellville; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Frazer's Funeral Home Chapel in Warren with burial in following in Oakland Cemetery.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Floyd McAlister
HECTOR - Floyd McAlister, 93, of Conway died Friday, Dec. 9, 2005, at Conway Regional Medical Center in Conway.
The son of the late George Walker and Naomi Robertson McAlister, he was born Oct. 29, 1912, in Hector. He served in the U.S. Naval Service-Coast Guard during World War II as a member of the Naval Amphibious Forces. Stationed in both England and North Africa, he made 35 trips on LST-16 across the English Channel during the Normandy Invasion delivering tanks, trucks, jeeps and men. He later saw duty in the Pacific and was stationed in the Philippine Islands where his ship transported three loads of occupation forces to Tokyo Bay in preparation for the invasion of Japan.
He was also an educator, he taught biology at both Monticello High School and Drew Central High School and retired from teaching in 1975 after 19 years as a guidance counselor at Crossett High School.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Bernice Tyson McAlister; granddaughter Jenny McAlister; four sisters, Lula Murphy, Willie Hill, Susie Crouch, and Mardie Webb; five brothers, Fred, Lloyd, Ralph, G.W. and George McAlister.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, James and Mary McAlister of Conway; daughter, Sara McAlister of Sherwood; two grandchildren, Barrett McAlister of Little Rock and Dorain Bell of Shirley; brother, J.L. McAlister of Farmersville, Calif.; and sister, Ruth Llewellyn of Hector.
Graveside services and burial will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Walnut Grove Cemetery near Hector under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service with James McAlister officiating.
