Betty Wallace
Betty Lou Clift Wallace, 68, of Gifford died Thursday, Aug. 25, 2005, at her home.
She was born July 16, 1937, at Dallas, Texas, to John Homor and Irene Page, and was a member of Glen Rose Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include her mother, Irene Page of Arkadelphia; three children, the Rev. John Clift and his wife, Bonnie, of Arkadelphia, Sherry Antrim and husband, Toney, of Dardanelle, and Regina Jackson of Gifford; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Glen Rose Missionary Baptist Church with Gary Copeland officiating. Burial will be at 6 p.m. Sunday in Promise Land Cemetery at Hamburg. Arrangements are by Regency Funeral Home of Malvern.
Memorials may be made to Arkansas Hospice, 5600 West St., Little Rock, Ark. 72204 or the Glen Rose Missionary Baptist Church.

Jerry Haynes
CLARKSVILLE — A visitation and memorial service for Jerry Duane Haynes, who died Wednesday, Aug. 24, will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 4, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home. A private burial will be in National Cemetery at Fort Smith.

Harriet Walton
Harriet Jane Walton, 82, of Russellville, died Thursday, Aug. 18, 2005, at the Hospice House Woodside at Pinellas Park, Fla., near her winter home in Pinellas County.
She was born Feb. 17, 1923, at Utica, N.Y., to Otto William and Ida Bertha Menke Brucker.
She was a former member of the Luther League of the Our Savior Lutheran Church in Utica and was a former cellist with Utica Junior Symphony Orchestra. She was a member of St. Mary’s Fitness Center and attended the Central Presbyterian Church at Russellville. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Ruth Hunt Cidoni.
Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Fred D. Walton of Russellville; a daughter, Sarah Jane Walton Holtzman of Los Angeles, Calif.; a brother, Carl William Brucker Sr. of Russellville; a sister, Charlotte Brucker Williams of Utica, N.Y.; two grandchildren, Alexandra Jane Holtzman and Erick Douglas Holtzman, both of Los Angeles, Calif.; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Central Presbyterian Church officiated by the Rev. Kenyon P. Kalvesmaki. Burial will be in Booher Cemetery in Russellville under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10 a.m. prior to the service at the church.
Pallbearers will be Fred D. Walton, Carl Brucker Sr., Carl Brucker Jr., Robert Holtzman, Erick Holtzman, Paul Williams Sr., Paul Williams Jr., John Daigle and Ed Jordan.
Visitation will be 7-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Ray Johnson
CLARKSVILLE — Ray L. Johnson, 96, died Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2005, at Clarksville Convalescent Center.
Born May 10, 1909, at Hartman, he was the son of Sam and Minnie Morgan Johnson. He lived in Hartman most of his life. He was one of the few remaining baseball players from the Coal Hill and Stony Point baseball teams of the 1930s and 1940s. Mr. Johnson worked at the Sunshine Coal Mines for 14 years and later was an employee of Hanford and Swift companies in Clarksville.
He was a World War Ii veteran having entered the Navy in March 1944 where he was assigned duty on a merchant ship which carried ammunition. He was for many years an avid duck hunter and fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice Johnson, who passed away Feb. 15, 2004. They had been married 68 years at the time of her death. A son, Mike Johnson, also preceded him in death in 1978.
Survivors include a daughter, Phyllis Jones and her husband, Sonny, of Monticello; a son, Monroe Johnson of Hartman; a sister, John Johnson and wife, Inge, of Alma; a sister, Muriel Eichenberger of Clarksville; a granddaughter, Andrea Puyear of Carrollton, Texas; and five grandsons, Kirby Johnson of Sheridan, Andy Johnson of Sherwood, Steve Puryear of Little Rock, Brian Johnson of Hartman and Keith Johnson of Salem, Ore.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hartman Cemetery. Arrangements are by Roller-Cox Funeral Service.
Visitation will be 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Althay Gifford
CLARKSVILLE — Althay Lavine Gifford, 94, of Clarksville died Thursday, Aug. 25, 2005, at her home.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Jerry Haynes
CLARKSVILLE — Jerry Duane Haynes, 72, of Clarksville died Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2005, at Johnson Regional Medical Center.
He was the son of the late Alonzo Augustino and Agnes Derrick Haynes, a retired air traffic controller for the Jacksonville, Fla., Federal Aviation Administration, a U.S. Air Force veteran, member of American Legion Post 22 and attended Russellville Christian Center. He was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Haynes.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Russell Haynes; sons, Benjamin and Shayne Haynes of Jacksonville, Fla.; brother, Edward Haynes of Tulsa, Okla.; and sisters, Margaret Nelson, Judy Laeger and Darlene Green, all of Tulsa, Okla.
A memorial service will held at a later date. A private burial will be in National Cemetery at Fort Smith. Arrangements are by Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Kevin Curry
DARDANELLE — Kevin Allen Curry, 43, of Dardanelle, formerly of Pleasant Hill, Mo., died Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2005.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Cornwell Chapel. Burial will be in Price Cemetery at London. Arrangements are by Cornwell Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Richard Johnson
DANVILLE — Richard Johnson, 65, of Belleville died Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2005, at his home.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Cornwell Chapel. Burial will be in Russell Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 6-7 tonight.

Raymond Palmer
Raymond E. Palmer, 81, of Russellville, died Thursday, Aug. 25, 2005, at Dardanelle Nursing Center.
Memorial service will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Bakers Creek Baptist Church.
Local arrangements are under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service.

Jobelle Laster
CLARKSVILLE — Jobelle King Laster, 86, of Clarksville died Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2005, at her home.
Born Oct. 17, 1918, at Harmony, she was the daughter of the late Gus and Bonnie Baskin King, and widow of Fred Laster. She was a graduate of Clarksville High School, attended College of the Ozarks, served as librarian at Johnson County Library for 18 years, and was former manager of Hurie School cafeteria and the snack bar at College of the Ozarks. She was the 1936 state Spelling Bee winner. Mrs. Laster was a member of AARP, NARFE, the hospital auxiliary, the Historical Society and First Presbyterian Church. She did volunteer work with Needy Paws and Meals on Wheels. She loved cats, flowers, baking cookies and her daughters.
Survivors include daughters, Bonnie Jo Laster of Jacksonville, Fla., and Sue Laster of Clarksville; two special nephews, Ronald Laster and James Robert Laster of Clarksville; several other nieces and nephews; and a special friend for 60 years, Roberta Albat of Coal Hill.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Harmony Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Harmony Cemetery by Hardwicke Funeral Service.
Visitation will be 6-7 tonight at the funeral home.
