Raymond A. Jones, 74, of Russellville, died Friday, April 6, 2007, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center.
The son of Charles and Flora Price Jones, he was born Aug. 27, 1932, in Durham, N.C. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1952 during the Korean Conflict and was a BTCM (Master Chief) during his career of 22 years before retiring. He married Pat Braswell, on June 13, 1954, at York, S.C. After retiring from the military and moving to Russellville, he owned Rest Haven Memorial Park for about 14 years. He was a past member of the Russellville Noon Rotary Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars Rogers-Rye Post 2283, Fleet Reserve Association in California and Plank Owner of the USS Kitty Hawk. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Pat Jones of Russellville; two daughters, Jennifer Skaggs, and Peggy Bond and husband, Kenny; four grandchildren, Jansen Choate, Abbie Skaggs, Kendall Bond and Kamrynn Bond; and a sister, Jean Marquardt, all of Russellville.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, April 9, 2007, at Humphrey Chapel with Pastor Wayne Drain officiating. There is no visitation planned. Military honors will be provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 2283 of Russellville.
Arrangements are under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service.

Leonard Page
DANVILLE - Leonard Page, born Feb. 15, 1918, in Belleville to Harrison and Winnie Kiersey Page, died Friday, April 6, 2007, at Dardanelle.
He was raised in the Ranger area, lived in Tulsa in his teenage years, then moved to western Kansas at about 16. He worked on a farm in Tribune, Kan., for Mr. C.L. Curtis and credits Curtis for having a great influence in molding his life and work ethics. He later farmed in Oklahoma and Colorado. He returned to Belleville in 1973, where he farmed, raised chickens, did mechanic work and built and worked on airplanes. For several years, he and his children traveled, sang and played country music as the Page Brothers and Louella. He is a member of the Upper Spring Creek Freewill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Page, of the home; three sons and their wives, Leon and Peggy Page, Ohio, Curtis and Wanda Page, Colorado, and Forrest Lynn Page, Arkansas; one daughter and husband, Luella and Paul Vines, Arkansas, and the mother of his children, Laura Page, Little Rock; stepdaughters, Diana Grindstaff, Oklahoma, and Donna Lofthouse, Washington; three brothers, Russell Lee Page, Texas, Ed and Boyce Page, Belleville; two sisters, Ernestine Carter, Maryland, Louise Johnson, Ranger; a special friend, Rosemary Page; nine grandchildren, James Wolff, Christina Elder, Laura Kent, Stephanie Summit, Justin Page, Jennifer Page, Jake Nicks and Raven Dawson; step-grandchildren, Christopher Grindstaff, Joshua, Kenneth and Douglas Lofthouse; great-grandchildren, Kerri Joy Elder, Christopher Elder, Vaughn Caleb Kent, Peyton Grace Kent, Jame, Johnathan, David and Heleith Wolff; step-great-grandchildren, Jade and Coby Lofthouse.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, at Upper Spring Creek Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Dick Falbo officiating. Burial will be at Lower Spring Creek Cemetery in Belleville. Arrangements by Cornwell Funeral Home, Danville.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Monday.
Fred Svendsen
CONWAY - Frederick John Svendsen, 74, died Friday, April 6, 2007.
Born April 29, 1932, in Omaha, Neb., to Carl and Rose Svendsen, he moved to Russellville in 1978.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce; sons and daughters-in-law, Carl and Barbara, John E. and Lisa, Jim R. and Jenisse, Joe and Sarah; daughter, Leslee Kunst and husband, Brian; 15 grandchildren; brother, Bob and wife Rosie; sisters, Carol Pohl and Judy Busse and husband Bob.
Memorial will be 2 p.m. Saturday, May 5, in Springhill, Ark. A separate memorial will be in Culebra, Puerto Rico, this summer.

CLARKSVILLE - Jose Manuel Guti rrez Alvarado, 62, of Clarksville died Tuesday, Feb. 13.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elpida Gonzales.
Survivors include sons, Luis Guti rrez of Mexico, Jaime Guti rrez of Tulsa, Okla., and Manuel Guti rrez of Mexico; daughters, Bertha Guti rrez and Petra Guti rrez of Mexico; parents, Jose Luis Guti rrez and Mo Dominga Alvarado; siblings, Amelia Guti rrez Alvardo, Maria Ampara Guti rrez Alvarado, Alcanio Guti rrez Alvarado and Eularia Guti rrez Alvarado; 18 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Burial will be in Mexico.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

DANVILLE - Paul Bragg, 65, of Danville died Saturday, March 3, 2007, at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2007, at Earl Ladd Cemetery. Arrangements are by Cornwell Funeral Home, Danville.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday.
Julia Finchum
Julia Evelyn Finchum, 98, of Russellville died Friday, March 2, 2007 at Dardanelle Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
The daughter of Joe and Effie Parsley Coffee, she was born Sept. 4, 1908, in Pottsville. She was a member of the Russellville First Assembly of God Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles C. Finchum; two sons, Charles Edward Finchum and Calvin Leon Finchum.
Survivors include four daughters, Catherine Havron of Muskogee, Okla., Marjorie Moore of Fort Smith, Helen Rudder of Wynne, and Cristine Nye and husband John of Brandon, Miss.; nine grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren and many loving nieces, nephews and special friends.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2007, at Humphrey Chapel. Reverend Don Erwin will officiate. Burial will be at Pisgah Cemetery at Pottsville by Humphrey Funeral Service.

Mary McKinley
ATKINS - Mary Kathleen McKinley, 58, died Friday, March 2, 2007, at Conway Regional Health System.
She was born Oct. 5, 1948, in Morrilton, Ark., the daughter of the late Eugene and Verlin Maxwell Heflin. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Lanny and Gerald Heflin. She was a homemaker and attended Pine Ridge Free Will Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Carl McKinley of Atkins; two sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Angela McKinley and Dusty and Linda McKinley, both of Atkins; three daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Cecil Adams of Hector, Rhonda and Jason Schuller and Lisa and Ray Adams, both of Russellville; grandchildren, Faith and Cory McKinley, Ashley, Natasha, and Cecil Jr. Adams, Michael, Bryan, Crystal, Heather, Jasmine and Jimmy Adams; a brother, Elton Heflin of Russellville; four sisters, Elsie Heflin of Atkins, Norma Heflin of Allred, and Vonnie Heflin and Patricia Patrick, both of Atkins.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2007, at Lemley Chapel with the Rev. Jim McNutt officiating. Burial will be in Bells Chapel Cemetery. Arrangements are by Lemley Funeral Service.

Wiliam Ross
William 'Hot' Ross, age 73, of Russellville died Friday, March 2, 2007 at his home.
He was a son of the late Oliver Thomas and Ida Mae Davis McDaniel Ross, and was born April 10, 1933 at Atkins. He was the husband of Margaret Ross.

Irene Smith
Irene C. Smith, 92, died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2007, at Kindred Hospital in Arlington, Texas.
She was born Aug. 24, 1914, in Long Island City, N.Y. She was a longstanding member of All Saints' Episcopal Church. She worked in advertising in New York City, for the U.S. Civil Service in Korea, and the U. S. Forest Service in Russellville. She was a former active member of the Arkansas League of Women Voters, the Pope County Extension Homemakers, and the London Family Community Education Club. She initiated and directed a Pope County paper recycling project throughout the 1970s.
She was the widow of Lt. Col. Thomas A. Smith.
She is survived by daughters, Catherine Pretty of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Shirley Gurpinar of Arlington, Texas; a son, Whitley A. Smith of Hoffman Estates, Ill.; sisters, Dorothea McGandy of Somerset, N.J. and Ruth Ryzner of N. Dartmouth, Mass.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She moved to the Russellville area in 1955 with her husband, Tom, and their three children. They involved themselves in community and local affairs, and raised Angus cattle at their ranch in London for many years.
Funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 5, at Humphrey Chapel by the Rev. Evelyn Hornaday. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Monday in the Veterans Administration National Cemetery at Fort Smith.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the building fund at All Saints' Episcopal Church.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. today at Humphrey Funeral Service.
