DARDANELLE — Martha “Liz” Merritt Lane, 85, of Dardanelle died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2007, at her home.
She was born Dec. 8, 1921, at Dardanelle to Henry C. and Nora Robinson Merritt. She was a member of Dardanelle First Baptist Church, Garden Club and Book Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Lane; and a brother, Dana Merritt.
Survivors include her daughter, Jane Litsey of Dardanelle; and two brothers, Denver Merritt of Paris and Delma Merritt of Dardanelle.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, 2007, at Cornwell Chapel with the Rev. Roger Glover officiating. Burial will be in Brearley Cemetery. Arrangements are by Cornwell Funeral Home.
Pallbearers include Mark Merritt, Chris Merritt, Dane Merritt, David Merritt, Nathan “Butch” Merritt and Sonny Breashears.
Visitation will be 6-8 tonight in the chapel.
Helen Byrd
DARDANELLE — Helen Marie Byrd, 78, of Dardanelle died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2007, at her home.
She was born Oct. 28, 1928, at Welch, W.Va., to Walter Bell Sr. and Gladys Welch. She was a member of Peter Creek Presbyterian Church in Phelps, Ky. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Byrd Sr.; a grandson, James Byrd III; and a brother, Walter Bell Jr.
Survivors include three sons, James “Butch” Jr. and Barbara Byrd of Dardanelle, Terry and Carol Byrd of Dardanelle, and P. Todd Byrd of Dallas, Texas; a daughter, Donna Howard of Waldron; brothers, Richard Goodson of Augusta, Ga., and Tommy Goodson and Kenny Goodson of Bluefield, W.Va.; sisters, Evelyn Kinser of Pulaski, Va., and Joanne Irick of Hampton, Va.; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, 2007, at Cornwell Chapel with the Rev. Jared Higginbotham officiating. Burial will be in Brearley Cemetery. Arrangements are by Cornwell Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.
Buddy Wigley
DANVILLE — Buddy Wigley, 78, of Ola died Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2007, at Chambers Memorial Hospital.
He was born July 6, 1929, in Waltreak to Oscar and Mary Martin Wigley. He loved to fish, eat squirrel, work on lawnmowers, play the fiddle and listen to bluegrass music. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; and seven sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Frances Long Wigley; and a host of nephews and nieces.
Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, at Oakland Cemetery in Ola. Cremation arrangements are by Cornwell Funeral Home.
Lucile Price
Lucile Price , 93, of London, died Thursday, August 16, 2007, at Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center.
Sena Lucile was born Aug. 22, 1913, at London, Ark., to William Henry and Mina Victoria Hon Becker. Lucile was a member of the West Side Church of Christ. She loved babysitting her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, as well as working in her yard and gardening. For the past two years, Lucile has lived in Stella Manor Nursing Center. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Burris Price ; two brothers, Henry Becker and Dwain Becker; a sister, Nadine Dale; and a grandson, Jim Price .
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Darwin and Glennette Price of London and Larry Gwyn and Nancy Price of Jacksonville; a daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Jerry Smith of Monticello; a brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Ruth Ellen Becker of Russellville; four grandsons and their spouses, Randy and Olga Price of Kokomo, Ind., Tad and Brenda Price of Jacksonville, Jerry and Stephanie Price of Cabot, and Dr. J. Scott and Celena Smith of Searcy; three granddaughters and their spouses, Joni and Mike Kozak of London, Marilee Rodefer of Jacksonville, and Tracy and David Roberts of Southlake, Texas; six great-grandsons David Price of Kokomo, Ind., Trent Roberts, Turner Roberts and Connor Whitted of London, Trey Price of Jacksonville and Jackson Price of Cabot; seven great-granddaughters, Kaylan Whitted, Lisa Goodman, Mikki Rodefer, Tori Roberts, Sydney Smith, Gentry Smith and Jaclyn Price ; and three great-great-grandchildren, Bailey Jackson, Wyatt Jackson, and Tristen Seiter.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 18, 2007, at the Shinn Chapel with Dan Lightfoot and Bruce Grice officiating. Burial will be in Price Cemetery near London under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service.
Active pallbearers will be Scott Smith, Tad Price , James Lee Becker, Garland Becker, Conner Whitted and Jerry Price .
Honorary pallbearers will be Kevin Beavers, M. D., and Randy Price .
Visitation will be open for friends and family from 2-5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Sylvia McCuin
Sylvia McCuin passed from this life and went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, Aug. 16, 2007.
She was born November 27, 1907. “Ma Sylvia,” as she was affectionately known by her grandchildren as well as her church family and the entire Welcome Home community, lived 99 years, just missing the century mark by a couple of months. Ma’s life was centered around her family and her church. She was characterized by her generosity and giving spirit. She gave to her family — making quilts for her children and grandchildren and homemade dolls and sock monkeys for her great-grandchildren which extended to six generations. She gave to her community by taking meals to the needy, visiting the sick and serving as a mid-wife to young expectant mothers. She gave to her Lord by serving in her church as a Sunday school teacher, a youth leader and her extensive involvement in the Ladies Auxiliary. She was a devout Christian who loved the Lord with all her heart. She was a loving and caring mother whose family meant more to her than anything in the world. Ma will be missed in this life, but heaven will be enriched by her presence.
She is survived by a daughter, Alene Coffman and husband, Lawnie, of Searcy; a son, Donald McCuin and wife, Rose, of Stanton, Texas; a daughter, Anna Coffman and husband, Lattie, of Hector; a daughter, Louise Hubbard of Morrilton; and a son, Bill McCuin and wife, Brenda, of Plano, Texas; 18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 31 great-great-grandchildren; two great-great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Sarah Condley; her husband, Roy McCuin; a son, Harold McCuin; an infant daughter, Imogene McCuin; a grandson, Rickey Coffman; a son-in-law, Dewey Hubbard; her brothers, Horace Condley, Charlie Condley and Jessie Condley; and her sisters, Lula Coffman, Eva Frost, Ada Hill, Minnie Engle, Nora Coffman and Bessie Miller.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, 2007, at Welcome Home Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Randell Williams and the Rev. Arthur “Bo” Coffman officiating. Burial will be at Walnut Grove Cemetery at Hector by Humphrey Funeral Service.
Visitation will be 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

DARDANELLE — Edward L. Hicks Jr., 34, of Dardanelle passed away Monday, Dec. 17, 2007.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, 2007, at the Amazing Grace Pentecostal Church. Arrangements are by Cornwell Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Friday at the church.
Maxine Golden
Maxine R. Golden, age 80, of Dardanelle died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007, at Legacy Lodge Nursing Center in Russellville.
A daughter of the late Theodore Ray and Elsie Faye Madden Robertson, she was born July 31, 1927, near Booneville. She attended college in Chillicothe, Mo., where she earned an associate’s degree in bookkeeping, and worked in Dardanelle for both the Keenan Gin and Renee Sims Building Supply Company. She was a member of the Dardanelle Church of Christ.
Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Jerry and Mariann Golden of San Antonio, Texas, Tim and Julie Golden of Booneville, and Mark Golden of Russellville; a daughter, Donna Mathews of Dardanelle; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Roger and Mae Robertson of Searcy, and Rex and Emily Robertson of Little Rock; four grandchildren, Sara and Elizabeth Golden, both of San Antonio; Trent Mathews of Maumelle, and Shane Golden of Booneville; and a great-granddaughter, Haylee Mathews of Springdale.
The graveside service and burial will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, 2007, at Brearley Cemetery in Dardanelle, officiated by Bruce Grice. Arrangements are by Shinn Funeral Service.
Active pallbearers will be Verlin Sims, Randy Crow, Shane Golden, Trent Mathews, Charles Richards and Shannon Young.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.
Jason Croom
Jason M. Croom, age 33, of Russellville died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007, at the Conway Regional Medical Center.
He was born Dec. 7, 1974, in Little Rock and was a graduate of Arkansas Tech University. As a child, he attended First United Methodist Church in North Little Rock. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, O. G. and Betty Croom of North Little Rock.
Survivors include his wife, Leanne Croom; two daughters, Zoe Elizabeth and Bentleigh Frances Croom, both of the home; his parents, Mike and Kandis Croom of Russellville; a brother and sister-in-law, Joseph Kimes and Alicia Croom of Russellville; and his maternal grandparents, Marvin L. and Dawn Smith of Davenport, Iowa.

Larry Freeman
Funeral services for Larry Freeman, 67, Fairmont, Minn., will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 12, 2007, at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont. Interment will take place at Nashville Cemetery, rural Truman, Minn. Larry died Thursday, May 3, 2007, in Kansas City, Mo., as a result of an automobile accident.
Visitation will be held 3-7 p.m. Friday, May 11, 2007, at Zaharia Family Funeral and Cremation Service of Truman and one hour before the services in the church.
Larry Lee Freeman was born on Sept. 9, 1939, in St. James, Minn., to Allen and Juanita (Boren) Freeman. He attended school in St. James through the 10th grade and then graduated from Truman High School. Larry farmed with his father in rural Truman. On Oct. 26, 1957, Larry was married to Irene Miller. They had four children. On Feb. 14, 1980, Larry was united in marriage to Marlys Johnson Prafke. Larry worked various jobs in the Truman area. He retired from North Central Public Service (Ferrell Gas). Larry was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont and the Truman, St. James and Fairmont Gun Clubs. He was one of Minnesota’s top rated shooters and has won many trophies and awards for trapshooting. His interests included trapshooting, ATVing in the mountains, hunting and fishing and helping family with projects. Larry loved spending time with his family, friends and his dogs. Larry and Marlys spent their winters in Arkansas with family and friends. Larry will always be an inspiration to his family and friends and will be remembered as an honest, hardworking mentor and a man true to his word.
Larry is survived by his wife, Marlys of Fairmont; two daughters and sons-in-law, Barb Freeman-Caven and husband, Perry, of Ceylon, Minn., and Lori Barchenger and husband, Bruce, of Fairmont; two sons and daughters-in-law, Lee and his wife, Janice, of Jackson, and Dan and his wife, Mary, of Fairmont; one stepdaughter, Lori Hartwig of Truman; three stepsons, Scott Prafke and wife. Kari. of Elk Mound, Wisc., Brad Prafke and wife, Holly, stationed at Okinawa, Japan, and Kevin Prafke and wife, Kristi, of Welcome, Minn.; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; two sisters, Linda Ferguson and husband, Charles, Gail Roesler and husband, Jerome, and one brother, David Freeman and wife, Toni, all of Arkansas.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter, Amber Barchenger.
