The first time an airplane landed in Holbrook was in 1922.
Dozens of residents young and old lined the runway to
witness the historic event.
Once the plane was safely on the ground, observers lined up
to take pictures with the aircraft.
The pilot was Merle A. Maltrip of Pittsburg, Pa.
Among those photographed with the plane were local notables
Shorty Thomas, Loy Turbeville, Dan Divelbess, Frank O’Connel,
George Schaeffer and Columbus Giragi.
