Janice Elaine Young Smith, 57, of Phoenix, died at St. Joseph's Hospital Aug. 11, 2000. She was born in Frankfort, Ind. April 27, 1943.
Mrs. Smith was a member of Phoenix Calvary Temple.
She is survived by her father, Kenneth A. Young of Frankfort, Ind.; husband, Howard F. Smith of Phoenix; daughter Myndi J. Brogdon of Strawberry; son Andrew J. Smith of Phoenix; granddaughters Kelsey and Laynie Brogdon of Strawberry; and grandson Van H. Smith of Phoenix.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15 at Phoenix Calvary Temple, 6630 N. Central in Phoenix. Interment at the Arizona National Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix. There will be no graveside services.

Carl Cameron Jackson

Carl Cameron Jackson, of Payson, died March 5, 2005, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
He was born March 2, 1927 to Beulah and Floyd Jackson in Cameron Mills, N.Y.
Mr. Jackson graduated with a B.S. and M.S. in education from the State University of New York-Cortland. He taught grades, physical education and coached baseball and other sports in New York state and Beirut, Lebanon.
He worked for 26 years in Saudi Arabia as both a teacher and later as a community services/recreation manager before taking early retirement in 1982.
Mr. Jackson moved from New York state to Payson in 1989.
He was a World War II Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Diane; daughters, Lisa and Tina of Payson, and Jane Lehmann (Craig) of Gibsonia, Penn.; son, Michael of Sarasota, Fla.; grandchildren, Michael and Nicholas Lehmann of Gibsonia, Penn.; two nephews and several cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents, sister, a brother and niece.
An Episcopal memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 12 at Mountain Bible Church, 302 E. Rancho Road in Payson.

Sally Gail Smith

Sally Gail Smith, 77, of Payson, died Dec. 3, 2004. She was born Aug. 3, 1927 in Petosky, Mich.
Mrs. Smith graduated in 1976 with distinction from Scottsdale Community College, earning an associates of arts degree in arts.
At the age of 50, she received certification from the Gemology Institute of America.
She moved to Payson in 1987, and a year later, purchased The Wash Tub laundromat -- a business she and her family owned until 2001.
She is survived by her daughter, Lucinda L. Twining of The Plains, Va.; sons, Jeffrey L. Smith of Grand Blanc, Mich., and Scott B. Smith of Payson; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard M. Smith.

Kenneth Wayne Kowaliski

Kenneth Wayne Kowaliski, 67, of Payson, died Nov. 26, 2004 following a long illness. He was born Feb. 11, 1937 in Beaver Falls, Pa. to Ben and Ann (Beresic) Kowaliski and moved with his family to Phoenix, Ariz. at an early age.
He enjoyed mechanical and electrical work, and was employed by International Harvester Company and Qualcomm for many years. He retired in 1999 from a job in the capacity of electronics engineer in San Diego, Calif. He then relocated to Payson.
Mr. Kowaliski was active in ham radio and sportsmen's groups for many years.
His retirement years were plagued with illness, including quadruple bypass, four heart attacks and numerous cancer surgeries.
Mr. Kowalski is survived by his wife of 40 years, Arlene, of Payson; mother, Ann Kowaliski of Phoenix; four brothers: Dan (Margaret), Ben (Dorothy), Tom (Shelly) and James (Vickie), an uncle John (Elizabeth) Beresic of Payson, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kimberly Anne, and his father, Ben.
The family will gather during the holidays for a celebration of life.
