Stanley Loucks
Stanley Loucks died Oct. 4, 1999, in Payson. He was born March 26, 1946 in Electric City, Wash. Mr. Loucks worked as a painter and moved to Payson in 1990.
Survivors include his wife, Denise, of Payson; three daughters, Chelsee and Ninette of Payson, Abby of Hilo, Hawaii; two sons, Ryan of Alaska and Alex of Payson; sister, Christine Dahlstrom of Spokane, Wash.; mother, Miriam Lee of Scottsdale; father, Dale S. Loucks of Yakima, Wash.; and two grandchildren.
Services were held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7 at his home.
Arrangements were handled by Payson Funeral Home.
Juanita Neff
Juanita Aline Neff, 85, of Payson died Oct. 4, 1999, in Flagstaff. She was born in Chickasha, Okla. July 7, 1914, to parents Charlie and Julia Bounds.
Mrs. Neff was a 47-year resident of Tucson before moving to Payson in 1998.
Survivors include three daughters, Juanita Marston of Payson, Margaret Shemek of Forest Lakes, Ariz., and Georgia Ann Neff of Colorado; nine grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.
Memorial services are pending.

Melvin Payne
Melvin E. Payne, 69, of Payson, died Oct. 2, 1999, in Payson. He was born June 2, 1930, in Blair, Okla. where he graduated from high school in 1948.
He then studied petroleum engineering at Oklahoma University before serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. After his tour of duty, he worked in the oil industry in Oklahoma and Texas, then in the space and defense industry for many years.
In 1970, he moved with his family to Mesa, Ariz. and retired from the City of Tempe in 1992. Mr. Payne was a Payson resident for the past seven years.
Survivors included his wife of 45 years, Willa Dean; two daughters, Barbara McCreary of Diamond Bar, Calif., and Deana Brillhart of Mesa; two brothers, Loyd Payne of Welston, Okla. and Earl R. Payne of El Paso, Texas; two sisters, Ruby Brown of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Aline Mortimor of Mesa; four granddaughters, Crystal and Ericka Brillhart and Tara and Katilyn McCreary; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were held Oct. 6 at the Star Valley Baptist Church.
Arrangements were handled by Payson Funeral Home.

Vivian Verniece Lee, 69, of Foster , Ore., died June 10, 2000. She was born to William Lester and Dorothy Goats May 30, 1931, in Woolum, Ark.
Helen Fortney

Helen Dorothy Fortney, 96, of Cottonwood, Ariz. died Sept. 24, 2000. She was born April 7, 1904, in Rose Creek, Minn. to Charles and Carrie (Dahle) Ballweber.
She moved to Hemet, Calif. in 1943. Mrs. Fortney was a schoolteacher and a herbalist for Watcher's Organic Sea Products for 45 years. She moved to Payson in 1989.
Survivors include one son, Donald Fortney and his wife, Janice, of Payson; three granddaughters, Marla and her husband, Gene Kelly, of Tempe, Ariz., Sandy and her husband, Larry Shelton, of Payson, and Sharmie and her husband, Warren Johnson, of Peoria, Ariz.; two great-granddaughters, Lisa Kemper of Goodyear, Ariz. and Arrica Kelly of Tempe, Ariz.; two great-grandsons, Sean Kelly and Gene Kelly of Tempe; three great-great-granddaughters; and one great-great-grandson.
Services were private.
