Grant Parnell Anderson, 83, of Payson, died Sept. 24, 2003. He was born Aug. 16, 1920 in Canby, Minn.
Mr. Anderson is survived by his wife, Delores Beatrice Anderson; four sons, Roger Shippy of Estes Park, Colo., Ronald Shippy of San Jose, Calif., Douglas Anderson of Northridge, Calif. and Bradley Anderson of Murrieta, Calif.; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is planned for 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12 at Mount Cross Lutheran Church in Payson.

Earle Lee Gates

Earle Lee Gates, 72, of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla., died Feb. 2, 2004 at Biloxi Veterans Administration Hospital in Biloxi, Miss.
Mr. Gates was a faithful, Godly, loving husband, and father, as well as a business owner and farmer in Imperial Valley, Calif.
He served his country in the United States Army.
Mr. Gates retired to Payson, and went to ministry training in Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Collins Gates of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.; son, Richard Gates of Atascadero, Calif.; daughters, Kristian Gates of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla., Lisa Gates Bane of Payson and Lezley Gates Tevault of Portland, Ore.; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earle and Bernice Gates; and one grandchild, Joseph Bane.
Services were held Friday at Biloxi National Cemetery in Biloxi, Miss. where he received military honors.
Arrangements were handled by Marshall Funeral Home of Biloxi.
George W. Duff (1926-2004)

George W. Duff, 77, of Payson, died June 14, 2004. He was born Sept. 18, 1926 in Dundee, Ill.
Mr. Duff was a lifetime resident of Arizona. He was a master carpenter, truck driver, welder and auto mechanic. He had worked in the oil fields in Taft, Calif. and in the copper mines in Bagdad, Ariz.
He was a World War II veteran with the U.S. Army and the Army Air Corps.
Mr. Duff was a cowboy and cook, and a hard rock miner alongside his father in Wickenburg. He had won many awards for his outstanding fruitcake recipe. He was a Boy Scout master, manager of Little League Baseball, and a business agent with the Carpenters Union in Glendale. He was a lifetime member of the chamber of commerce and worked the rodeos in Payson.
Mr. Duff was loved by everyone who knew him and was always willing to help those who were in need of any of his many talents.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lorene Duff of Payson; son, George (Vipa) Duff of Alamogordo, N.M.; daughter, Shelly Duff of Goodyear, Ariz.; grandson, Travis (Nolie) Cuevas of Andrews Air Force Base, Md.; granddaughter, Cassie Carlisle of Goodyear, Ariz.; and adopted son, Dale L. Pace of Tucson.
Visitation and funeral services were held Friday morning June 18 at the First Southern Baptist Church in Payson.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Friday, June 18 at Resthaven Park Cemetery, 6290 W. Northern in Glendale.

Gracie Lee Haught, 3, of Star Valley, died Feb. 6, 2004.
She is survived by parents, Bobbie Jo and Samuel "Hooter" Haught; grandparents, Debbie and Danny Haught, and Charlie and Susie Bowlin; aunts and uncles, Tandi and Mike Burket, and Jamie and Jason Bowlin; and many other family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11 at the First Assembly of God Church, 1100 W. Lake Drive in Payson.
