Orville L. Chambers, a Sun City resident since 1990, died at the age of 85 on Dec. 3, 2003 in Sun City. Mr. Chambers was born Aug. 22, 1919 in Detroit, Mich., to Wilbur Chambers and Gladys Norton. After living in Independence, Miss., he moved to Arizona in 1947 and made his home in Avondale for the next 33 years. He was a most loving father and raised his children to enjoy the outdoors, work hard and become wonderful parents themselves. He worked for Goodyear Aerospace as a maintenance supervisor for over 30 years. His beloved wife Jeanne passed away in 1989. Following her death, he moved to Sun City, where he continued to enjoy roller skating, ballroom dancing and his many friends. He is survived by his children, Judy Johnson of Spokane, Wash.; Michael Chambers of Dallas, Texas; David Chambers of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; Mark Chambers and Elaine Chambers of Prescott, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren; and one great grandchild. He is also survived by his beloved companion, Sarah Catherine Hobbs of Sun City, and dearest friend, Barbara Allen of Sun City. Services will be held 11 a.m. Dec. 13 at Sunland Mortuary, 15826 Del Webb Blvd, Sun City.
Joseph "Joe" Ell, 72, died Nov. 22, 2003. Born Dec. 6, 1930 in Aberdeen, S.D., he moved to Sun City West in 1993 from Puyallup, Wash. He was a tooling engineer for 35 years for Boeing and was in the South Dakota Army National Guard. Joe belonged to Skookum Archers, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and the Fraternal Order of Eagles organizations. He is survived by his wife Donna; daughters, Pam St. Martin of Puyallup, Wash., and Monica Rock of Vancouver, Wash.; son, Stuart of Marysville, Wash.; sisters Eleanor, Kathy, Eva, Appie, Lillian and brother, Ed; seven grandsons. Joseph Henry Green, 87, of Sun City, died Nov. 26, 2003. Joseph was a retired general director for General Motors in Detroit.
Jerry C. Lorenz, 93 of Sun City died Nov. 21. Jerry was formally from the Czech Republic and moved to Sun City from Illinois. Survivors include his children, Geraldine Daly, Charlotte Cotner, Carl and Janet Floyd; grandchildren, Daphne, Victoria, Bret, Lonnie and David; five great grandchildren. Burial is at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside, Ill.
James F. "Jim" Miller, 83 of Sun City West, died Dec. 1, 2003. He was born Sept. 23, 1920 in Meadville, Pa. Jim and his wife Betty moved here in 1984 from Denver Colo. He was owner and manager of McLaughlin Family Lodge and also was the superintendent of ground operations for Capital Airlines in Washington D.C. He served in the Army Air Corps in World War II and was active in the Sun City West Racquet Club and was chairman for the Friends of the Library Endowment Fund. He is survived by his wife, Betty; daughter, Marcia; sons, Mark and Tom; two grandchildren and brother, John. Memorial contributions can be made to the Westside Food Bank, P.O. Lee Frisby, 80 of Sun City died Nov. 27, 2003. Lee was born March 2, 1923 in Scipio Okla. Lee and her husband John moved to Arizona in 1963 from Cloverdale, Calif. She was a real estate agent/broker in the commercial real estate field and her other professions included licensed cosmetologist, certified welder and certified electronics inspector. Lee is survived by her husband, John; daughter, Tanya; stepdaughters, Shirley, Linda and Charlotte; son, Wayne; stepsons, Gary, John and Jerry; 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Lee volunteered her time at the Arizona Independent Center for the Blind. Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of donor's choice.
Patrick John Piecham, 74, of Sun City, died Nov. 29, 2003. He was born in Solvay, N.Y., and moved to Arizona in 1984 from Massachusetts. He was survived by his son, Charles. Patrick was a purchasing manger and he served in the Army.
