Marilyn I. Sloyer of Sun City West died June 23, 2003. She was 72. Originally from Bucyrus, Ohio, she came to Arizona in 1986 from Walbridge, Ohio. She was a restaurant hostess. Survivors include her longtime companion, Bert Marynowski; daughters Vikki Kutz of Stony Ridge, Ohio, and Linda Gregory of Walbridge; son, Fred Sloyer of Stony Ridge; sisters Marvel Dornan of Thornport, Ohio, Donna Grace Knisley of Hendersonville, Tenn., and Kate Blackford of Buckrus; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Edward Michalik, 79, of east Mesa, died Friday, June 20, 2003, in Mesa. Mr. Michalik, a mechanic, was born in Minneapolis, Minn. Robert L. Callies, 81, of east Mesa, died Tuesday, June 24, 2003, in Mesa. Mr. Callies, a retired locksmith and retired United States Air Force senior master sergeant, was born in Stanton, Neb. Helen "Rosie" Van Sciver, 97, of east Mesa, died Tuesday, June 24, 2003, in Mesa. Mrs. Van Sciver, a homemaker, was born in Philadelphia, Pa. Heather Leigh Gilbert, 31, of Cottonwood and east Mesa, died Sunday, June 29, 2003, in Tempe. Mrs. Gilbert, an activities coordinator in nursing care, was born in Greeley, Colo. She is survived by her husband Jeremy; daughter Ashleigh; parents Sandra Anderson and William Francoeur and grandparents Bonnie and Robert Fabian. George M. Burruss of Sun City died June 20, 2003. He was 77. Born in Denver, Colo., he moved to Arizona in 1984 from Colorado. He was a salesman and businessman in the San Francisco Bay Area, and he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He is survived by five sons and one daughter.
