TATE, Ruth Margaret 'Van', 92, passed away Saturday morning, November 13, 1999. She was born in Chesaning, MI on July 19, 1907. Her husband, Harvey F. Tate, preceded her in death. Her daughter, Suzanne Tate Reed of Shawnee Mission, KS, her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Claudia Tate of Tucson, and three grandchildren, Kendra, Kyla, and Kevin survive her. Van was a Registered Nurse at the Thomas-Davis Clinic in Tucson during the 1930s. She resumed her career in the 1950s at St. Mary's Hospital, as the Head Nurse on 3 West for over 25 years, where she was lovingly referred to as 'Ma Tate'. Van and Harvey were lifelong members of Trinity Presbyterian Church. In accordance with her wishes, no services will be held. Her ashes will be scattered over the Chiricahua Mountains in Southern Arizona, where she will join Harvey's remains and 'they can dance together in the wind for eternity.' In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Carondelet Foundation at St. Mary's Hospital, 1601 W St. Mary's Rd., 85745. VEVA L. BALDRIDGE, 83, beloved mother, grandmother and friend, passed away Saturday, November 13, 1999. GEORGE LEE BARRETT - On November 12, 1999, George Lee Barrett ceased to walk with men. WALLACE E. CUMMINS, 65, of Tucson, Arizona, died peacefully at home on November 13, 1999. Born in Douglas, Arizona on January 6, 1934.
He was preceded in death by his father, Frank T. Cummins and brother, Richard Cummins who lost his life in the Oklahoma City bombing.
He is survived by his mother, Christine Cummins of Tucson, AZ; brother, Frank (Frances) Cummins of Ruidoso, NM and sister-in-law, Frances Cummins of Mustang, OK; wife, Pat Cummins; daughters, Susan (Jon) Tulga, Sharon (Steve) Zimmerman; son, Mitch (Michelle) Cummins; and seven beautiful grandchildren, all of Tucson, AZ.
He retired from Southern Pacific Railroad after 37 years of employment. He enjoyed his family, friends, and fishing in Mexico. He will be missed by all that knew him. He truly was a great man.

ELARI, Isabella, 98, died Saturday, November 13, 1999. She was born in Marsala, Sicily on November 5, 1901 and came to this country with her parents and four sisters when she was seven years old. The family settled in Brooklyn, NY, where Isabella lived until the death of her husband, Salvatore. She moved to Tucson in 1980 to be with two of her sisters. MARGARITO (MIKE) R. HERNANDEZ, 83, owner of Del Rio Ballroom, where he worked for 47 years, died Saturday, November 13, 1999 at Carondelet Hospice, St. Mary's Hospital in Tucson, Arizona. Mr. Hernandez lived in Tucson, Arizona for 63 years. He was born December 24, 1915 in La Pieda Michocan Mexico.

SHAOL LEE POZEZ - Born May 6, 1925, in Topeka, Kansas, passed away November 15, 1999. Survived by his wife of 50 years, Evelyn and children, Melanie and Jay Blumberg of Chicago, Bill Pozez of Langhorne, Pennsylvania, Shelley and Don Baker and Mitchell and Robin Pozez of Tucson, Arizona; grandchildren, Shawn and Jason Blumberg, Gerri, Benjamin and Ari Pozez and Lindsey and Joshua Baker; brother, Jerry (Deidra) Pozez; sister, Marcia (Stan) Kurtz, all of Fort Worth, Texas; sister, Beverly (Al) Rosenfield of Dallas, Texas; brother, Louis (Ruthann) Pozez of Tucson, Arizona; sister-in-law, Carole Levine of Tucson, Arizona; sister, Irene Youngentob of Boca Raton, Florida; plus many nieces, nephews and cousins throughout the United States and Israel. Shaol Pozez served in the Navy during World War II.
Mr. Pozez co-founded Payless ShoeSource with his 1st cousin and best friend, Louis Pozez. Shaol was President from 1956 to 1981 and Chairman from 1981 to 1983. Mr. Pozez was chairman of the Footwear Retailers Association of America.
Mr. Pozez was actively involved in many organizations, locally, nationally and globally. His involvement as a board member of Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas, Tucson Medical Center, The Woods Services in Langhorne, Pennsylvania, several financial institutions, including Merchants National Bank of Topeka, Kansas and Tucson Savings and Loan. His dedication to Jewish philanthropic endeavors spanned many organizations including Chairman of the Building Committee for Temple Beth Shalom in Topeka, Kansas, Tucson Hebrew Academy, Southern Arizona Jewish Federation, Tucson Jewish Community Center, Life member of ZOA, Life member of B'nai B'rith, Chairman of Desert Caucus and Executive Officer of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee.
Mr. Pozez was an avid aviator for over 53 years. He amassed over 13, 000 hours piloting his own airplane doing what he loved best, flying. He was a director of the Topeka Airport Authority.

ROBERT 'BOB' L. SCHUYLER - Born on November 11, 1949, entered into peace on November 14, 1999 after a brief and courageous battle with brain cancer. He fought his disease with dignity and grace, never giving up hope and remaining positive and loving through the ordeal. Along the road to his final resting place, he rediscovered God, became closer to his family and treasured old friends and discovered many new friends.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Linda; parents, Dorothy and Lou Schuyler; sister, Sue (Steve) Martin; brothers, Jimmie and David (Suzan) Schuyler; father-in-law, Bill Febrero; beloved dog, Mandy, and many other dear family members and numerous friends. He was predeceased by his brother, Steven.
Robert's passions were many; music, golf, fishing, hiking and an inherited passion for trains, which ideally was his career as a train conductor.
We will all mourn his time apart from us – but we shall meet again in a wondrous place of true peace and beauty.
A celebration of life in Robert's memory will be held at Desert Son Community Church, 5250 Cortaro Rd. on Thursday, November 18 at 11:00 a.m.
