PALLETT, David G., born December 14, 1918, passed away December 1, 1999 of complications from Alzheimers Disease. He was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA. He proudly served his country in WWII in the Pacific Theater with the 111th Infantry Combat Team. He has been a resident of Tucson since 1976. He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Mildred; son, David (Mildred) of Haverford, PA; daughters, Christine (Elliott) and Antonia (Stratton), both of Tucson; grandchildren, Anjanette, Calley and David G.; two sisters, a brother and numerous nieces and nephews. SAN NICHOLAS, Edith, 72, of Tucson, passed away on November 30, 1999. She is survived by her beloved life partner, Bruce Kaler; her children, Franc, Sheila, and Ric; and her grandson, Ricardo.
Her joys and interests included family, friends, her pets, and the free wildlife that inhabited her surroundings. She was a lover of music, and an accomplished artist of ceramics, needlepoint and china painting.

WILSON, Shelby H., age 92, died December 2, 1999. Shelby was born May 13, 1907 in Marshall, MO., the only child of John Shelby and Sallie Wilson. The family moved to the farm when he was small and lived there for several years, during which time he attended a one-room country school. The family then returned to Marshall where Shelby finished high school in 1927, and attended MO. Valley College. He then began a career as a high school science teacher. He taught two years in Keithsburg, IL., then returned to Marshall for another 10 years of teaching. During this period he earned a M.S. degree in chemistry from the University of Iowa. In late 1942 Shelby went to work for the War Department in Omaha, Neb., as the supervisor of boiler water treatment in all military installations in nine mid-western states. During this time he married
Virginia Dodson whom he met while teaching in Marshall. She preceded him in death on April 14, 1999. They were married
for 54 years. Following the war he became employed by Infilco Inc. in Chicago, a company that manufactures water and sewage treatment equipment. In 1950 Shelby and his family moved to Tucson along with the company where he was employed until 1970. Upon retirement Shelby became a part-time employee of the Adair Funeral Home, retiring in 1989. Shelby was an active member of Catalina United Methodist Church where he served in the choir for 44 years. He was a York Rite Mason for 71 years. He is survived by his son, John Shelby Wilson (Gwen); and two grandsons, Brian and James, all of Yakima, WA.; and by his sister-in-law, Thema Dodson of Tucson. A visitation will be held at ADAIR FUNERAL HOME Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. (at Speedway), from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Saturday, December 4, 1999. GARY CHARLES JONES, 43, of Tucson, died December 3, 1999 after a short and courageous battle with cancer. Gary was born on October 4, 1956. His father, Charles L. Jones, precedes him in death. He is survived by his mother Evelyn Jones-Miller, his two children Kira and Adam, his brother Steve (Linda) Jones, his sisters Rebecca Jones and Donna (Phil) Summers, and his grandmother Regina Jones, all of Tucson. He is survived by nieces and a nephew. He grew up in Tucson and was a graduate of Rincon High School and the Univ. of Arizona. He was employed by the Department of Corrections in Florence. Gary was an avid bike rider and enjoyed participating in local bicycle events; no distance was too far. His love will be missed greatly by his family, relatives and friends.

Walter J. Kountz, 79, a resident of Tucson for the past 37 years, passed away December 1, 1999. Survived by wife of 58 years, Dorothy; daughter, Patricia; son, Butch (Laurie); grandchildren, Chris (Linda), Michael, Paul and Heather; great-grandchildren, Shane and Patrick; and dear friend of many years, J. Silvestri of Las Vegas. preceded in death by daughter, Cathy; sons-in-law, Patrick and Anthony. Born in Rochester, PA on March 15, 1920. He enlisted in the US Army on December 7, 1941 and served his country during WWII. He was awarded two purple hearts and a bronze star. A bricklayer and stonemason by trade, he founded G & W Masonry in 1967 and was active in Tucson's masonry industry for many years. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge and Elks Lodge. Walt wished to express his sincerest gratitude to all his friends for their concerns during his brief illness. He appreciated all of you.
