WALTER 'WALLY' DOHERTY, JR. and his wife of 42 years, VIRGINIA 'GINNY' DOHERTY
passed away on December 5, 1999. Walter passed away early Sunday morning of heart failure, while his loving wife, not yet informed of his passing, died 15 hours later at Tucson Medical Center from cancer. Both were equal partners in Doherty Plumbing, Inc. Wally and Ginny raised a close and loving family and leave behind their four children; Michael (Ellen), Donna Kelly (Gary), Brenda Milstead (Joseph), and Paul (Renee). Wally and Ginny were also blessed with eight grandchildren and leave behind several extended family members and close friends across the country. Wally and Ginny were both born and raised in the Boston area and met when they were 12 and 15 years old. Wally attended Harvard University after serving his country in the Korean Conflict. Ginny graduated from nursing school as a Registered Nurse and worked at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. Wally ran their operation and Ginny ran the office until recently when they both retired. Wally and Ginny spent the last several years traveling and enjoying life. Wally and Ginny will be greatly missed by their family, but the family finds solace in their departure to heaven together. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Cyril's Church on Tuesday, December 14, 1999 at 10:00 a.m. and they will be laid to rest at East Lawn cemetery immediately following. The family wishes to express their appreciation to all their family, friends, and business associates and invite you to join them in celebrating the lives of their parents. ENCINAS-MADRID, Alicia V., 52, of Tucson, Arizona, passed away December 09, 1999. preceded in death by father, Manuel Lugo Encinas. Survived by husband, Willie C. Madrid; mother, Natalia Vasquez Encinas; daughters, Elizabett, Cynthia (Adrian) Saenz, Judy (Charlie) Ruiz, Michelle (Juan) Garcia and Yvonne (John) Hernandez; son, Jesus Javier; sisters, Yolanda Encinas, Paz (Frank) Baez, MaryAnn Zipprich, Esperanza (Dave) Lowe and Natalia (Jerry) Martinez; brothers, Manny (Viola), Oscar (Elvira), Robert (Maria Laura) and Jose (Julie) Encinas. Also survived by grandchildren, John William, Mariah, Julissa, Mateo, Estevan and Paula. GARR, Charles Byrd, 71, of Tucson, died November 27, 1999. Father of Charles E. Garr (Arkansas), Juanita R. Hammock, John M. Garr, Robert W. Garr, Patricia L. Dame and Gregory T. Garr, all of Tucson, AZ; nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild; brother of Glenn Gare (Mesa, AZ) and Wayne Garr (MA). Memorial service Saturday, December 11, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. GREEN, Estella Mae, was born in LaGrange, Texas on January 11, 1914 and died December 8, 1999. She is survived by her daughter, Rosetta Branche and spouse, their seven children, 15 great-grandchildren and 22 great-great-grandchildren. She also has two sisters, nieces, nephews and many kind loving friends. She also had a son, Ollie Lee Williams, who preceded her in death on November 1, 1995. MEDINA, Helen Tapia, born January 28, 1914 in Casa Grande, Arizona, passed away December 08, 1999. preceded in death by sons, Jose and Ray Padilla. Survived by husband of 64 years, George Medina Sr.; children, George Medina Jr., Roy Medina, Helen Queiruga, Dora Romero, Trinidad Padilla, Rodolfo Padilla and Celia Padilla; grandchildren, Elisabeth, Paul, William, Lisa, Patricia, Deborah, George III, Andrea, Lauran, Michael and Brent; great-grandchildren, Adrianne, Gabrielle, Andrew, Niyaz, Alexandra, Trevor, Theresa, Francisco, Monica, Jaylene, Arial, Elisabeth and Jennifer; great-great-grandchildren, Manuel and Nathan; sister, Jessie Martinez of Chula Vista, California; nieces and nephews, Rafael and Susan Martinez, Daniel, Ricardo, Celia and Enrique Medina. RAMOS, Robert Joe, age 64, a 19 year resident of Tucson, passed away November 28, 1999. Born May 28, 1935 in Arizona. WILK, Stanley M., age 57, a resident of Tucson for 25 years, passed away December 3, 1999. Born August 26, 1942 in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Survived by son, John Michael Wilk; grandson, Shawn Michael Wilk; granddaughter, Ciera Jayne Wilk; sister, Sophie (Anthony) Loffa; nephew, Anthony Loffa III; niece, Mary Ann Schipani; and all of his friends at Harbor House. ARTHUR, Claude Ellwood, 82, died December 9, 1999. Husband of Doris M. Arthur; father of Connie (John) Bingham, Suzanne (James) McLellan and Jacqualyn (Joseph Librillo) Arthur; grandfather of Leigh Zimmerman; great-grandfather of Avery M. Zimmerman all of Tucson. He was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Jo Reed and his son, Tommy Arthur. Claude was a WWII veteran with the 443CAAA (experimental Battalion) Mobile and Aircraft Weapons Unit. He was awarded the Silver Star and was also a member of VFW #4903. Funeral Service 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 13, 1999 at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL. Interment will follow in TMP East Lawn cemetery. BORQUEZ, Raymundo Franco, 70, of Tucson, passed away December 9, 1999. Survived by children, AnaMarie Alcozar, Lisa Borquez, Jose R., Rudolph C. and Rene R. Borquez; brothers, Alfredo, Gavino and Manuel Borquez; sisters, Lucercia Howard, Eva Figueroa, Frances Garcia and Ester Borquez; special family friend, Maria Juarez. preceded in death by his loving wife, Christina C. Borquez; parents, Gavino and Antonia Borquez; sister, Dora Obregon.
Born in Phoenix on September 29, 1929, he was a Tucson resident for 70 years. Served in the U.S. Army 11th Airborne then worked 30 years for Pima County Hwy Dept. Raymundo's passion was his family and the great outdoors.
He is loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him, especially by his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and relatives.
Mass will be held at Holy Trinity, St. David on December 13 at 11:00 a.m.

CRUZ, Rose Huerta, 71, of Tucson, Arizona, passed away December 10, 1999. Survived by beloved husband, Ralph Cruz; sons, Rudy (Tricia), Fred, Ernest (Margaret), Joe and Peter Cruz; daughter, Rosemary (Ray) Montano; sister, Mary (Juan) Parish; brothers, Fred, Gilbert (Amanda) and Joe Huerta. Also survived by grandchildren, Yvette Montano, Ernest Jr., and Emilio Cruz. FLORES, Jose G., 74, of Tucson, died Tuesday, December 7, 1999. He is survived by his wife, Maria Cuca Flores; daughter, Cecella Flores; son, Juan Flores; sister, Francisca Guapo; sisters-in-law, Faustina Ursua and Lucrecia Cordova. An all-night wake will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 12, 1999 at the family home, 7643 S. Camino Tetaviecti. The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. A Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. on Monday at Cristo Rey Church, New Pascua. Burial will follow at Monte Calvario cemetery. GOLDBERG, Lucille Janet, 83, of Tucson, died December 8, 1999. preceded in death by husband, Hyman (1982). Loving mother of Ronald Goldberg of Tucson; beloved sister of Ethel Vera Kahn of Phoenix; beloved aunt of Debra Kahn Hatfield of Phoenix, Linda Kahn Bass of Dallas, TX; and beloved great aunt of Jeremy and Rachel Bass; and numerous cousins also survive. Mrs. Goldberg was a radio broadcaster and commentator in St. Petersburg, FL and Chicago, IL. She was also a member of B'nai B'rith Women. JULIANO, Laura, born July 20th, 1912 heard the voices of the Angels and passed from this life on December 8th, 1999. preceded in death by husband, Bob Juliano. Survived by son, J. Robert Juliano; daughter, Terry Burke and loving son-in-law, Legh Burke. Laura enjoyed her many travels, reading and needlework. She was devoted to her five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be in New York. MARTINEZ, Manuel V., 83, of Tucson, Arizona, passed away December 02, 1999. Survived by wife, Esperanza V. Martinez; brother, Robert Martinez; grandchildren, Armando Jr., Manuel, Elizabeth A. Martinez and Sonia Digiorno; great-grandchildren, Meagan Martinez, Milton, Celina and Anthony Nelson, Benjamin Sanchez, Leana Munoz, Armando and Clarissa Elias.

MEJIAS, Manuel M., 68, a retired miner from San Manuel Magma Copper Mine, where he worked for 30 years, went to be with our Lord, December 8, 1999.
He is survived by his wife, Maria; children, Lydia (Jose) Romo, Anna (Sam) Rivera, Diane (Bert) Otero, Norma Montano, Yolanda Mejias-Armstrong, Manuel Jr. (Josie), Rene, Jerry, Jesus (Freddie), David (Chino); sisters, Herminia Lopez and Maria Cota. Also 15 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Manuel Antonio Romo.
Visitation will be on Sunday, December 12, 1999 at St. Ambrose from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be on Monday, December 13, 1999 at St. Ambrose at 10:00 a.m. Interment at a later date. OUELLETTE, Roland G. 'Frenchy' born August 21, 1916, gently and peacefully went home to glory on December 10, 1999. He was preceded in death by wife, Florence; wife, Ruthie; parents, two brothers and a sister. He is survived by daughter, Maureen of Tucson; brother, Maurice (Clara) of Michigan and 18 nieces and nephews. 'Frenchy' retired from Hughes Aircraft January 30, 1981 after 27 years of employment. Visitation will be Monday, December 13, 1999 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. at BRING'S MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 236 S. Scott. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, December 14, 1999, 10:00 a.m. at Most Holy Trinity Church, 1300 N. Greasewood, with burial to follow at Holy Hope cemetery. PETRONE, Dixie Lee, 52, of Tucson, passed away on December 9, 1999. She is survived by her husband, Michael; two children, Kelly and Anthony Tissicino; two sisters, Charolette and Peggy; three grandchildren, Nicholas, Libby and Zachary and many other loving family members and friends. PURDON, Elizabeth Marie 'Breezy', 90, of Tucson, died December 7, 1999, the anniversary date of her marriage to the late Floyd A. Purdon. She was born November 6, 1909 in Vinton, Iowa. After living in Iowa and Colorado, she moved to Tucson with family in September of 1988. She was predeceased by her husband, Floyd A. Purdon in August of 1997. She is survived by her son, Thomas F. Purdon, MD (Kathryn) and her granddaughter, Jennifer E. Purdon of Tucson. A brief inurnment ceremony will be held at East Lawn Palms Mausoleum, 5801 E. Grant Road, Tucson on Sunday, December 12, 1999 at three p.m. The family is very grateful for the loving care given to her by the staff of the Kachina unit of Park Villa Healthcare Center. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made in her name to the Alzheimer's Association, PO Box 8235, Chicago, IL 60680-8984, or to the Kachina unit of Park Villa Healthcare Center, 2001 N.
