GARRETT-NEWLIN, Lyn Ann, 51, of Tucson, passed away on January 7, 2000. She is survived by one son, Zachery Garrett; one daughter, Kelly Stortz; her mother, Fern Hickok; one brother, Gary Micheloni; one sister, Beverly Smith; her ex-husband, Jack Newlin and one granddaughter. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. A Memorial Service will be held in Long Beach, CA. Arrangements by HEATHER MORTUARY.

HANEY, Donna Jean Fischer, 75, died December 31, 1999 in Olive Hill, KY. Born in Niles, MI May 10, 1924, resident of Tucson for over 68 years. Retired from the Southern Pacific Railroad, was a member of the Downtown Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Mother of Rodney Ray Haney of Olive Hill, KY, Deborah Ruth Cook of North Port, FL; grandmother of seven; sister of Maxine Tappero and Betti Doerschlen, Jeanette Armijo and Gohnette Morales. A memorial service will be held with family.

OSCAR O.J. HOLMES, 92, of Tucson, passed away on January 7, 2000. He is survived by five daughters, Estella Nobles, Doris Johnson, Mamie Anderson, Betty Lou Holmes, all of Tucson, and Margie Meyers of Sunnyvale, CA; two sons, Alvin Thompson and Lamont Holmes, both of Tucson; one sister, Maggie Bell Holmes of Dallas, TX; 29 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren and many other loving family members and friends. Funeral Service will be held at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, 2403 S. Martin Ave. on Thursday, January 13, 2000 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior. Interment to follow at South Lawn cemetery. Arrangements by SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY.

LAUDERDALE, Vera E., 86, died January 10, 2000. Survived by daughter, Norma Jean (Kevin) O'Brien of Sun Valley, CA; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Alvin and Florence Lauderdale of Tucson, AZ; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive. Mrs. Lauderdale was the bookkeeper and personal secretary to Barry Goldwater at the original Goldwater store in Phoenix, Arizona during the 30's. Services and interment will be in California. Memorial contributions in Mrs. Lauderdale's memory may be made to the Salvation Army. Arrangements by BRING'S MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 236 S. Scott.

LOEPER, William A., Sr., born in Libertyville, Ill. January 25, 1949, passed away January 6, 2000 in Tucson, AZ. Survived by his wife, Susan Maria; sons, Anthony W. and William A., Jr.; daughters, Tina and Eva; sister, Linda (Ed); brother, John (Mickey) and mother, Ellen. Memorial service to be held at Love Divine Fellowship, 1922 S. Farwell, Wednesday, January 12 at 6:30 p.m.

MARTINY, Stephen J., 79, passed away at home in the company of his loved ones, January 10, 2000. Survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Elaine; daughter, Mary (Brad) Hibbitts; granddaughter, Jenifer (Joe) Uhlman; great-grandchildren, Devon and Elisabeth Uhlman. Memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 14, 2000 at EAST LAWN PALMS CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Rd., with Rev. Gary Berry of the Desert Springs Baptist Church officiating.

COL. (RET) DANA F. McFALL, JR. USAF - Born March 13, 1922 in Dayton OH, died January 8, 2000 in Tucson, AZ. Survived by his wife of over 54 years, Dorothy; sons, Dana III (Margaret) of Phoenix, Craig (Kristine) of Omaha, NE, Kirk of Yorktown, VA; brother, Dr. Paul N. McFall (Vivian) of Dayton, OH; grandsons, Dana IV (Sarah), Daniel, Jeffrey, Brandon; and granddaughter, Kelly; step grandchildren, Andrea and Jason Healy. He began his Air Force career in December 1941. During WWII he served in North Africa, Italy and the CBI, flying 70 combat missions in B-25s. Following the war he remained in the Air Force as a flight instructor, plans officer, and personnel officer. He retired in 1972 and he and his wife moved to Tucson. He was an Elder of Christ Presbyterian Church, a member of Rincon Kiwanis, The Retired Officers' Association, The Air Force Association, and Daedlians. Memorial Service with military honors at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 15 at Christ Presbyterian Church, 6565 E. Broadway with Pastor Steve Melde officiating. In lieu of flowers, remembrances, may be made to the Christ Presbyterian Church Building Fund or the Alzheimer's Association, 5132 E. Pima, 85712. Arrangements by EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, 5801 E. PEREZ, Minnie S. 'Betty' was born in West Virginia January 8, 1918 and died January 10, 2000. preceded in death by parents and husband. Survived by two sons, Jaquet J. Monaghan of Nevada, George K. Monaghan of Sierra Vista; and four grandchildren. Memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 13, 2000 at Northminster Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Ken Skodiak officiating.

ROBERTS, Roswell Reid, age 86, passed away peacefully January 7, 2000 in Pasadena, CA. He was born November 13, 1913 to Clara Fish Roberts and Frederick C. Roberts of Tucson, AZ. He is the grandson of Tucson pioneers Edward Nye Fish and Maria Wakefield Fish. The home he was born in, 141 N. Main St., Tucson, AZ is a historical landmark. Roz graduated from Tucson High School, attended the University of Arizona, USC and graduated from Southwestern University in Los Angeles in Accounting. He was a member of the Pi Kapp Alpha Fraternity. He joined the Navy during WW II and serviced as a Lieutenant in the South Pacific (Philippines). He worked for the Defense Contract Audit Agency as an auditor until his retirement in 1979. He is survived by his sister, Virginia Flaccus; his children, Roswell R. Roberts, Jr. and Linda Loding; his daughter-in-law, Pat Roberts; son-in-law, Mike Loding; his grandchildren, Roswell R. Roberts III, Dawn Roberts, Randy Roberts; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death (one year to the day) by his loving wife of 60.5 years, Elsie Roberts and grandson, Kevin Evanshen. Burial will be Friday, 10:00 a.m. at Evergreen cemetery, Tucson, Arizona. Arrangements by Turner & Stevens, Alhambra, Mortuary, Alhambra, CA.

RUSK, Robert John, 77, of Tucson, AZ. Born November 14. 1922 in Chicago, Ill. Died January 9, 2000, in Tucson. Survived by five children: Terri Coahran of Scottsdale, AZ; Patrick (Melissa) Rusk of Green Bay, Wis.; Daniel Rusk of Tucson; Michael Rusk of Tucson; and Dawn (Kevin) Koehler of Itasca, Ill.; one sister, Lucille (William) MacArthur of Skokie, Ill., and nine grandchildren. Bob was a veteran of World War II, having served with the Army Medics in the South Pacific. He graduated from Northern University Illinois and taught physical education in La Grange, Ill., before entering the real estate profession and forming Rusk Construction Co. Bob moved to Tucson in 1973 and was co-owner of Bobbie's Indian Village for 15 years, Upon retirement, he became an avid golfer and for several years managed the pro shop at the Rolling Hills Country Club.
A memorial service will be held at Elks Lodge #2532, 615 S. Pantano Road, on Friday, January 14, at 2:30pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the World War II Memorial Fund in Washington via P.O. Box 17598, Tucson, AZ 85731.

BETTY JANE SENG, 71, died January 1, 2000. Wife of Bob Seng; mother of Larry Cochran, Keith (Lisa) Cochran, Anneeta Schrand, Melodie (Eric) Tompkins, Loren (Marsha) Seng, Beverly (Rick) Haight and Bob Seng; grandmother of 17 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; sister of Jackie (Bud) Stone, Juanita Trossbaugh and Bill Weimer. preceded in death by her sister, Jocelyn Spiegel. A precious wife, mother and grandmother who also touched the lives of countless others. Oh, how great is our loss! But at last, she was ushered into the arms of Jesus, her God and King. Her joy is now complete! Memorial Service 1:30 p.m., Friday, January 14, 2000 at First Evangelical Free Church, 4700 N. Swan Rd. SOLARZ, Helen M., 93, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully January 9, 2000. Survived by daughter, Mary Ann (Ken) Carpenter of Tucson; four grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; step daughter, Alice (Al) Kvistad of Chicago, IL. Memorial Mass will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, January 15, 2000 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 1810 N. Camino Pio Decimo. Arrangements entrusted to HEATHER MORTUARY.

TAFF, Margaret Lois, 94, died January 4, 2000. She is survived by many relatives. Graveside service 1:00 p.m., Thursday, January 13, 2000 at TMP East Lawn cemetery, with Rev. Howard Higgins officiating. Arrangements by BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.

REY R. TRINIDAD, JR., 21, of Tucson, Arizona, passed away January 09, 2000. Survived by grandparents, Reymundo and Ramona Trinidad, Mike and Socorro Borboa; parents, Rey Sr. and Barbara Trinidad; sisters, Renata and Michelle. Also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends; grandmothers, Armida Vidal and Maria Jesus Romero.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 14, 2000 from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Our Lady Queen of All Saints, 2915 E. 36th St. with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered on Saturday, January 15, 2000, 1:00 p.m. also at Our Lady Queen of All Saints. Interment to follow at Holy Hope cemetery.
Rey, Jr. was employed at Super K-Mart on Valencia Road for four years where he worked in the toys and produce department. Rey, Jr. is a graduate of Sunnyside High School class of 1997 with a 3.46 cum laude honors. He was involved in Deca, Apex, Mesa and Anytown, USA. Rey, Jr. also participated in sports such as baseball, soccer, track cross country, where he was part of the 4x800m that finished 3rd in state Track Meet. He also broke the Sunnyside school record for the 4x800m after graduation. Rey, Jr. attended Pima Community College where he continued his academic excellence and planned on studying Virology. He also walked on to the Cross Country and Track Team in 1997-1998 seasons, which he then earned an athletic scholarship for the following season.

BECHLER, Floyd Edward, age 71, a 20 year resident of Tucson, passed away January 9, 2000. Born August 15, 1928 in Clyde, Ohio. Mr Bechler was an Army Veteran of Korea. preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Bechler; grandson, Ernie Bechler Ritter; brother, Dick Bechler; parents, Floyd and Marian Bechler. Survived by his loving wife, Dolores; sons, Joe and Ernie Bechler; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Marian (Rick) Schramm and Shirley Bechler; daughter-in-aw, Carol (Eddie) Ritter. A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday January 14, 2000 at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5401 S. Park Ave. Evening Service at 7:00 p.m., Rev. Les Plattner officiating.

DAVID MICHAEL BRAVO - Born November 22, 1948, entered into New Life January 12, 2000. He was a US Army Vietnam Veteran and had served with Company 'Big Red One' and 23 years with the Arizona Army National Guard Company 222nd.
He is survived by his wife, Anna Marie; daughter, Rebecca (Chris) Gallardo; sons, David (Maggie) and Daniel; sisters, Olga (Carlos) Valenzuela, Bertha (Robert) Martinez, Sylvia (Fortino) Heredia, Leilani (Nick) Gomez, and Gloria (Michael) Bryant; brother, Roman (Elvia) Miranda; his father and mother-in-law, Arnold and Josie Leyva; and special grandbaby, Bridgette; numerous nephews, nieces, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael L. Bravo, and Fidelina Bravo and sons, David Francisco and Michael David.
Visitation will be held at MARTINEZ FUNERAL CHAPELS on Friday, January 14, from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. A Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 15, 2000 at 8:30 a.m. at St. Augustine Cathedral. Burial will follow at Holy Hope cemetery.

RONALD A. BROWN, 57, passed away on January 7, 2000 after a lengthy illness. Ron is survived by his wife, Jane; stepsons, Austin and Clayton Wood of Benson; sons, Scott Brown of Ft. Riley, Kansas and Gary Brown of Huntington Beach, California. Additional family members include his grandson, Zack (Scott's son) and half-sister, Bobbie Latimore of Sedona. Ron's easy-going manner, his gentle humor, and intelligence endeared him to his many friends and colleagues. He loved being outdoors hiking, gardening or playing golf with 'the guys'. Ron was an educator in the Tucson area for over twenty years, ending his career with Pima County Adult Education. In 1990 Ron was selected as PCAE's Outstanding Educator. At that time his colleagues honored him with a quotation from Walt Whitman:
Behold, I do not give lectures
or a little charity,
when I give I give myself.
Ron was an inspiration to us all. A private memorial is being held. Contributions in Ron's name can be made to Pima County Adult Education, 130 W. Congress, Rm. 540, Tucson, AZ 85701. The family would like to thank his doctors and Carondelet Hospice for the excellent care Ron received.

CUMMINS, Betty Ann, passed away January 10, 2000. Born August 21, 1918 in Mason City, IL, the daughter of Glen Earl and Ebba (Pierson) Montgomery. She married C. Ray Cummins on September 4, 1940 in Liberty, Missouri. He preceded her in death. She and her husband moved to Tucson from Illinois in 1968. She is survived by a daughter, Donna (Sam) Montooth of Dahinda, IL; two grandchildren, Marianne Alexander of Knoxville, TN, and Jeffrey Alexander of Olympia, WA. She was predeceased by a brother. Graveside Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 14, 2000 at 10:00 a.m. in East Lawn Palms cemetery with a visitation taking place an hour prior to services in EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Dignita Hospice Care, 1730 E. River Road, Suite #107, Tucson, AZ 85718.

D'ARCY III, Charles Edward, 78, of Tucson, AZ, died Tuesday, January 11, 2000. He was an Attorney at Law and retired Academic Dean of Lincoln Law School. He is survived by wife, Cheryl; son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Nita D'Arcy; stepson, Shawn Ransdell; grandchildren, Cherie D'Arcy, Mary Jane D'Arcy and Chase D'Arcy; and cousin, Virginia Savage. Friends may call at ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave. (@ Magee), from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, January 14, 2000, with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 15, 2000 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 8650 N. Shannon Rd. Burial will be at Calvary cemetery, Sacramento, CA.
