RUBEN ANTHONY GABUSI SR.
February 4, 1926 – January 11, 2000
Ruben was preceded in death by his parents, Andrea and John Gabusi; his sisters, Ofelia Gabusi, Nellie Ortega, Alice Lynn, and Gloria Lena; and his brothers, Frank and Roy Gabusi. He is survived by brother, John (Lorraine) Gabusi; his sister, Josie Hubbard; brothers-in-law, Louie (Scharry) Carrillo and Gilbert (Ruth) Carrillo; and sisters-in-law, Mary G. Gabusi, Dina Carrillo (Ken) Bolle Sr. and Diane Carrillo. He was the proud nino of Patricia Bolle, Kenneth Bolle Jr., Louis Carrillo Jr., Francis Villa, Anthony Birchak, Danny Pacheco, Socorro and Jose Diaz, and Patrick Rivers. Ruben was an admired uncle, great-uncle, and great-great uncle. Ruben was happily married
to Edna Carrillo for 45 years. They were soul mates in good times and bad. Ruben's best friends and nemesis at times were his super sons, Ruben Anthony Gabusi Jr. and Richard Andrew Gabusi. His devoted daughters-in-laws, Cheryl and Deirdre. The loves of his life where his grandchildren, Garrett, Amy, and Hannah Gabusi. Ruben graduated from Tucson High School in 1943. He attended the University of Arizona. He was in the Army Air Corps as a B-24 Gunner on the 'Dottie L.' He also worked for the U.S. Post Office. He retired from the Tucson Fire Department after 21 years as a captain. He worked 22 years for Sandoval Distributing and Anderson News and retired in June 1994. The Gabusi family is extremely thankful to Victor and Linda and their outstanding staff at Hacienda Villa Paco for their superior loving care of Ruben Anthony Gabusi Sr. A special thank you is also sent to Penny from Casa de La Luz Hospice. Westyn, 24, was born in Tucson. He loved to golf, fish, and snowboard. He was an artist and his studies also included business management and real estate. In life Westyn carried a passion for unconditional love and friendship for every soul he touched.

Survived by his son, Westyn Anthony; his best friends, Cassandra Cuestas, Robert Tatum, and Christopher Diflo; brother, Josiah Hamilton Harper; sisters, Traci Faith Hamilton and Teress Hamilton Harper; mother, Toni Hamilton-Harper and dad, David Lynn Harper; grandparents, Gwendolyn Harper, Jacqueline Mauthe, Mr. and Mrs. Manolo Sotelo and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Cottrell. 1ST SGT ROBERT F. HUGHES, USMC RETIRED - Born Jan. 26, 1932 in Tucson, AZ, died Jan. 9, 2000 in Oceanside, CA. preceded in death by first wife Estella Hughes, survived by present wife Isabel Hughes, Sons William (Nancy), Martin (Maureen), Daughters Patricia Hughes, Christine Alegria (Hector), Leslie Rodriguez (George) all of Tucson. Brothers Alex (Blanca) of Tucson, Richard (Linda) of Tucson, Sisters Lupita Martinez (Jesus) of Tucson, Mary Watts of Las Vegas, Natalia Anderson (George) of CA, Grandchildren Melissa, Mark, William, David, Michael, Alexis, Martin, & Fernando. And many nieces and nephews.
He served with the Marine Corp in the Korean Conflict and was Decorated with the Purple Heart with 1 Cluster, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Medal, Korean PUC, and Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon.
Robert grew up in Tucson and attended local schools, Davis Elementary, Safford Jr. High, & Tucson High School. He was employed with Davis-Monthan AFB (Civil Service) for over 25 years. He worked in the MASDC Area and later managed the Wood Hobby Shop before retiring in 1991.
He took great pride in the USMC Devil Pups, a program for underprivileged young teens. He ran the local program for 15 years through the Tucson Detachment of the Marine Corps League.
Robert was a loving Husband, Father, 'Tata', and Brother. We will miss him and will always remember him as a 'Marine'.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Jan. 13, 2000 from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. at CARRILLO'S TUCSON MORTUARY, (North Chapel), 204 S. Stone Ave., with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass offered on Fri., Jan. 14, 2000, 10:30 a.m. at St. Augustine's Cathedral, 192 S. Stone Ave. Interment to follow at Holy Hope cemetery.
LAWS, Gerald D., of Saint David, passed away January 11, 2000 in Sierra Vista, AZ. 'Jerry' was born in Detroit, Michigan on January 28, 1939 to his parents, Ordell Laws and Lucille Morris Laws. They moved to Tucson in 1946. He was a member of IBEW Local 769 for 42 years. He liked to tinker with woodcraft and yardwork, and listen to country/western music. He enjoyed the outdoors, and hunting, especially with his son.
Survivors include wife, Theda 'Dee' of St. David, AZ; son, Steve (Carol) Laws of St. David, AZ; stepchildren, Cathy (Brian) Nuetzi of Tucson, AZ, and David (Darlene) Turpen of Illinois; eight grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 15, 2000 at the San Pedro Valley United Methodist Church, 636 S. Hwy 80, Benson, AZ. Viewing will be at the church from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Officiating will be his cousin, Rev. William Nash from Texas. MARSHALL, Raymond D., 69, of Tucson, died January 11, 2000. Born August 11, 1930 in Centralia, IL. He was a 23 year U.S. Air Force veteran, serving in Vietnam and retiring as a Senior Master Sgt., and attended First Church of God. He is survived by wife, Papan of Tucson; son, Gary D. Marshall of Reading, PA; daughter, Diana L. Roger of Norman, OK; sisters, Betty Hartley of Flint, MI, Wilma Grice of Owosso, MI; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild. COL. (RET) DANA F. McFALL, JR. USAF, Born March 13, 1922 in Dayton OH, died January 8, 2000 in Tucson, AZ. Survived by his wife of over 54 years, Dorothy; sons, Dana III (Margaret) of Phoenix, Craig (Kristine) of Omaha, NE, Kirk of Yorktown, VA; brother, Dr. Paul N. McFall (Vivian) of Dayton, OH; grandsons, Dana IV (Sarah), Daniel, Jeffrey, Brandon; and granddaughter, Kelly; step grandchildren, Andrea and Jason Healy. He began his Air Force career in December 1941. During WWII he served in North Africa, Italy and the CBI, flying 70 combat missions in B-25s. Following the war he remained in the Air Force as a flight instructor, plans officer, and personnel officer. He retired in 1972 and he and his wife moved to Tucson. He was an Elder of Christ Presbyterian Church, a member of Rincon Kiwanis, The Retired Officers' Association, The Air Force Association, and Daedlians. Memorial Service with military honors at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 15 at Christ Presbyterian Church, 6565 E. Broadway with Pastor Steve Melde officiating. EDUVIGES (VICKY) M. MONTANO, age 92, born May 18, 1907 in Oracle, Arizona, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family. She enjoyed life with her family listening to music and attending family gatherings. preceded in death by her husband, Roberto; daughters, Josephina and Angie; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She is survived by her children, Avelino Montano, Lucy Galvez, Lupe Chavez, Ophelia Montano, Sylvia (Frank) Moreno, Rita (Joe) Martinez, Robert (Mary) Montano, Ray (Norma) Montano and Maria Esther Duarte; brother, Joe (Connie) Molina. CARL RHEIN 'PAPA', 74, of Oro Valley, died January 11, 2000. Survived by wife, Elise of Oro Valley; daughter, Anita (Richard) Velasco of Tucson; sons, Steven (Karen) Rhein of Prescott Valley and Kenneth (Marta) Rhein of Marana; one brother, four sisters, eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. preceded in death by daughter, Linda Lucas. Mr. Rhein served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. After retiring from Tucson Electric Power Co. he became the all around 'handyman' for Highlands Mobile Home Park. RUSK, Robert John, 77, of Tucson, AZ. Born November 14. 1922 in Chicago, Ill. Died January 9, 2000, in Tucson. Survived by five children: Terri Coahran of Scottsdale, AZ; Patrick (Melissa) Rusk of Green Bay, Wis.; Daniel Rusk of Tucson; Michael Rusk of Tucson; and Dawn (Kevin) Koehler of Itasca, Ill.; one sister, Lucille (William) MacArthur of Skokie, Ill., and nine grandchildren. Bob was a veteran of World War II, having served with the Army Medics in the South Pacific. He graduated from Northern University Illinois and taught physical education in La Grange, Ill., before entering the real estate profession and forming Rusk Construction Co. Bob moved to Tucson in 1973 and was co-owner of Bobbie's Indian Village for 15 years, Upon retirement, he became an avid golfer and for several years managed the pro shop at the Rolling Hills Country Club.

BETTY JANE SENG, 71, died January 1, 2000. Wife of Bob Seng; mother of Larry Cochran, Keith (Lisa) Cochran, Anneeta Schrand, Melodie (Eric) Tompkins, Loren (Marsha) Seng, Beverly (Rick) Haight and Bob Seng; grandmother of 17 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; sister of Jackie (Bud) Stone, Juanita Trossbaugh and Bill Weimer. preceded in death by her sister, Jocelyn Spiegel. A precious wife, mother and grandmother who also touched the lives of countless others. Oh, how great is our loss! But at last, she was ushered into the arms of Jesus, her God and King.
