WISE, Oliver V. (O.V.), 90, of Tucson, passed away on January 8, 2000. Survivors include his son, Robert (Arlene) Wise; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Madge T. Wise. Born November 13, 1909 in Findlay, Ohio, Oliver moved to Tucson in 1946 where he was employed by Tucson Unified School District for over 20 years as a custodian. ZIMMER, S. John 'Jack' 57, died January 10, 2000 in Tucson, AZ. He is survived by his daughter, Christina 'Tina' L. Zimmer; sisters, Elizabeth (Russell) Baggeson, Margaret (Richard) Myers, Theresa (George) Cataldo, Penny Z. (Donald) Smith; stepbrother, Verne (Carol) Smith; stepmother, Genevieve Country Man and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Joan Gallup and brother, Louis Zimmer. He was a brilliant father, teacher, gardener, activist, and parliamentarian. He had a vast love for Mother Earth and Native American Philosophy. His spirit will continue to adventure throughout the desert. ALBRECHT, Rose M., age 89, passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2000, and went to be with her beloved husband of 64 years, Frank, who preceded her in death in 1998. HARRIS, Robert M., Dr., born December 5, 1921 in Atlantic City, NJ, passed away January 12, 2000 after a courageous battle with lung cancer. A loving husband to Lillian for 55 years; beloved father to Richard (Karen Stapf-Harris) of AK, Robert 'Gordo' (Mary Noble) of Australia, Steven of Tucson, Lynne (David) Gurthet of OK, Myrna Harris Howell of Oracle; grandchildren, Nathan, Richard, Staci, Randall, Greene, Golden Moon, Steven, Jennifer, Jennifer, Charles; seven great-grandchildren; brother of Hazel Tracy of Margate City, NJ; numerous nieces, nephews, many dear friends and colleagues also survive. WW II veteran, Captain in Army Chemical Corp. He attended Philadelphia College of Pharmacy & Science; PhD from UCLA. Professor Emeritus of the University of Arizona. Recipient of the prestigious Salgo-Noren Foundation Teaching Excellence Award. Member of the U of A Hall of Fame. Outstanding Service Award from the Arizona-Nevada Academy of Sciences. A recipient of many other awards and honors within his profession. Member of the ACLU. Author of numerous textbooks in Genetics and Botany including Plant Diversity. Longtime Editor of The ArizonaNevada Academy of Sciences. Served on the Emergency Committee to Defend Liberties of Arizona Public Employees. Dedicated to his many graduate students throughout his 30 years of teaching. He was a teacher's teacher. A loving husband and father, walker, explorer, fisherman, scientist, reader, bird watcher and train enthusiast. Together Bob and Lillian traveled over 250, 000 miles by rail, sharing the wonderful variety of the North American odyssey. No services planned. MARCIE KAPELLEN - Died peacefully January 12, at her home in Green Valley, Arizona. She fought a courageous battle with metastatic melanoma over the last year. She was born in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, May 6, 1931. She graduated from Plymouth High School, and also attended Pima College in Tucson, AZ. She was married
to Robert H. Kapellen, on October 14, 1950.
She was a secretary in the Law offices of Royal and Murray for a number of years. She was employed at Green Valley News for 18 years in advertising sales until her retirement. She was a member of Salve Regina, also the Elks Ladies in Green Valley. She was a member of the American Business Women's Association where she chaired many committees. She has been a Hospice Volunteer since January of 1998. Survivors include her husband, Robert; brothers, Wilfred (Florence) Jetzer and Othmar (Pat) Jetzer; and her loving seven children: sons, Daniel (Sue) Kapellen of Lisle, IL and Jeffrey Kapellen of Green Valley; daughters, Karen Buehler of Phoenix, Donna Kapellen RN, Diane Garza, and Lori Moore (Gary) all of Tucson and Phyllis Kapellen, MD of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; four granddaughters and five grandsons.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 16, at the Green Valley Mortuary. A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church in Green Valley at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 17.

PALMER, Jr., Tsgt. Mitchell, age 75, born November 27, 1925 in Tampa, Florida, expired in Tucson, Arizona January 9, 2000.
Mitchell was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He retired from active service in 1969 at Davis Monthan AFB.
Mitchell Palmer is survived by his loving wife, Alice A. Palmer (Waycross, GA); a son, Charles Henry Palmer of Tucson; a daughter, Alice Maria Willis, Jr. (Frank) of Chicago, Illinois; four grandchildren.
He was a strong provider who we will miss and always love.

PEARSON, Bernice Marie Uptegrove, age 90, of Tucson, passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2000. She was a homemaker and beloved mother and grandmother. Bernice was born in Melrose, Minnesota on June 16, 1909, and was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde A. Pearson.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary B. (James) Walsh of Knoxville, TN; and a son, Cap A. (Helenann) Pearson of Tucson, AZ and Madison, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Timothy and Daniel Walsh, Kelly Pearson Austin, Tara Pearson Wiedenbeck, Danielle Pearson McCorkle, Andrew Pearson, and Nicole Pearson; great-grandchildren, Matthew, Mark, and Zachary Austin, Morgan and Talor McCorkle, and Ryan Wiedenbeck.

WITTENBORN, Herbert C., 77, died January 12, 2000. Husband of Dorothy Wittenborn; father of Mark H. (Brigette) Wittenborn of W. While living in Downers Grove, IL, he was employed at Good Samaritan Hospital as groundskeeper, before retiring to AZ in 1995. JESUS ROBERTO ARVIZU, 58, of Tucson, AZ, passed away on January 12, 2000, after a long and courageous battle with diabetes.
Survived by his wife of 38 years, Ofelia Arvizu; son, Robert (Lilia) Arvizu; daughters, Yvonne (Art) Gallego, Veronica (Robert) Rosales and Valerie Galindo, all of Tucson; 11 beloved grandchildren, Regina, Rene, Alyssa, Alexis, Nicole, Christopher, Brooke, Michael, Darlene, Rheyenne and Justin.
Jesus was loved by all his family who thought him to be a very brave and wonderful man. He had many brothers and sisters, special aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, especially Ed Dominguez.
Anyone who knew Jesus knew him as a hard worker with a deep love for his family and friends who believed in enjoying his life.
