BETTY HUGHES CERVANTES, 86, of Tucson, Arizona, passed away January 11, 2000. Survived by daughter, Suzanne (Ross) Sheard; son, Doug Cervantes; sister, Anne Kareiva. Also survived by seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Memorial Mass will be offered on Sunday, January 16, 2000, 1:00 p.m. at Newman Center, 2nd and Cherry. CLARK, Donald Lyn, 46, of Globe, AZ, died January 13, 2000. He is survived by parents, Mr. and Mrs. Curley Clark (Tucson), Mr. and Mrs. Gene Kuhns (Winneconne, WI); brothers, Ervin (Tucson), David (Seattle, WA), Gene (Osh Kosh, WI); sisters, Vickie (Ephraim, UT), Sue (Tucson), Conne (Tucson), Nance (Phoenix); nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. He was a Maintenance Supervisor 3, Department of Corrections, State of AZ; President – Law Enforcement Rodeo Association; Avid hunter and fisherman. He loved the out of doors, horses, rodeo, golf and any outdoor activity. He was an exceptional athlete. A Memorial Service will be held at Avra Valley LDS Church, 13450 N. Lon Adams Rd., Marana, AZ, Monday, January 17, 2000, 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave. at Magee.

COLE, Barry Lewis, March 9, 1932 – January 13, 2000. Barry Cole lived an honorable life and fought the good fight against a disease that could not be conquered. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clara (Stitzburg) and Max Cole, as well as his son, Steven Howard Cole. Barry is survived by his loving family: wife, Joan; son, Barry Robert; and granddaughter, Rebekah; daughter, Alyssa Beth (Dr. Riccardo) Valdez; brother, Earl (Cheryl) Cole and family; sister-in-law, Suzanne (Marvin) Mann; niece, Victoria Ann Eisen (David Wampler) and their daughters. Barry was born in Chicago; graduated from the University of Illinois School of Journalism; served in the Army at Thule Air Base in Greenland; and was an Advertising/Technical Writer employed for 18 years before his retirement in 1998 by Hughes/Raytheon. He loved his family life, his friends, and the mountains and desert of Tucson. Barry's corneal donation will give the gift of sightto others and his good nature and good spirit will live on in the memory of all who knew him. A Private Service is planned. EGGMAN, Audrey M., 73, of Tucson, died January 10, 2000. Mother of Patty Lewis, J. Richard Dean, Robert T. Dean; three grandchildren, Jesse and Carly Lewis and Robyn Dean; sister of Janet Miller, Pat Herdlein, Florence Rabel, Kurt, Robert and Eileen Hoctor. FORD, Gilbert 'Gil' 73, of Tucson, Arizona, passed away January 12, 2000. Survived by wife, Gloria Escalante Ford; daughters, Sandra and Brenda Ford, Marcela (Cliff) Ford-Tarlton; sons, Antonio (Yolanda) Escalante and Ricardo (Beth) Rojas; sisters, Maybelle (Walter) Ford-Murphy, Hazel and Carol Ford; brothers, George (Bertha) Hernandez, Herbert (Pat), John (Olga), Joe and Richard Ford. Also survived by six grandchildren, Andrea, Aluvia, Monique, Antonio, Christopher and Bianca.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 16, 2000 from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. at Carrillo's Tucson Mortuary, (South Chapel), 240 S. Stone Ave., with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered on Monday, January 17, 2000, 10:00 a.m. at St. Ambrose Church, 300 S. Tucson Blvd. Interment to follow at Holy Hope cemetery.
Gilbert was a veteran of World War II and Korean War. He retired from the Army after many years of service. He then worked for the City of Tucson as a street operations supervisor, which he retired from after 23 years. Gilbert was also a member of the El Rio Mens Golf Club.

GLASGOW, Dale E., 79, died Thursday, January 13, 2000 in Tucson. Survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Mary T.; three sons, James (Glenda), Neil (Mary Sue), Michael Glasgow; two daughters, Mary Kathleen Glasgow, Cynthia (Greg) Walker; two brothers, Howard Glasgow, Dean Glasgow; 13 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren. Inurnment will be in Texas. Arrangements by WOLFREY PEACE CHAPEL, 5225 E. Speedway, 881-0338.

JONES, James W., 81, died January 13, 2000. Father of Monica Jones and Nancy (Butch) Gurley all of Vail; brother of Wavern Jones and Willetta Chadwick both of Indianapolis, IN. James worked for DelcoRemy in Anderson, IN for 34 years and was an Army veteran of WWII. Arrangements by BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.

MARCIE KAPELLEN - Died peacefully January 12, at her home in Green Valley, Arizona. She fought a courageous battle with metastatic melanoma over the last year. She was born in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, May 6, 1931. She graduated from Plymouth High School, and also attended Pima College in Tucson, AZ. She was married to Robert H. Kapellen, on October 14, 1950.
She was a secretary in the Law offices of Royal and Murray for a number of years. She was employed at Green Valley News for 18 years in advertising sales until her retirement. She was a member of Salve Regina, also the Elks Ladies in Green Valley. She was a member of the American Business Women's Association where she chaired many committees. She has been a Hospice Volunteer since January of 1998. Survivors include her husband, Robert; brothers, Wilfred (Florence) Jetzer and Othmar (Pat) Jetzer; and her loving seven children: sons, Daniel (Sue) Kapellen of Lisle, IL and Jeffrey Kapellen of Green Valley; daughters, Karen Buehler of Phoenix, Donna Kapellen RN, Diane Garza, and Lori Moore (Gary) all of Tucson and Phyllis Kapellen, MD of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; four granddaughters and five grandsons.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 16, at the Green Valley Mortuary. A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church in Green Valley at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 17.
Remembrances may be made to Carondelet Hospice Program, in Memory of Marcie Kapellen, 1802 W. St. Mary's Rd., Tucson, AZ 85745.

LAWSON, Otho T., 97, of Tucson, passed away on January 4, 2000. Survivors include his son, Andrew; two grandsons, Ralph, Roy (Sue), three great-grandchildren, Scott, Skylar, and Chandler. Otho was preceded in death by his wife, Vera on October 21, 1999. He was a long time resident of Tucson, moving from Arkansas in 1928. He was also a long time member of Desert Valley Seventh Day Adventist Church. Graveside service will be held at South Lawn cemetery, 5401 S. Park Ave., Monday, January 17, 2000 at 9:00 a.m. Arrangements by SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY.

James W. Moore died in Tucson on January 1, 2000, born, October, 10, 1928 in Hazelton, PA. Jim graduated from ST. Gabriel High School in 1946 and then joined the U.S. Army. He moved to Tucson in 1975. Eventually he went to work on the Tohono O'odham Reservation, which he always said was the best time in his life. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and just weeks ago by his sister, M.E. Murphy. He is survived by another sister, M.J. Ammon; his brother, Richard Moore; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial Mas will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 16, 2000 at Desert House of Prayer, 7350 W. Picture Rocks Road, a place long dear to Jim. Friends on the Tohono O'odham Nation will pay tribute to Jim's extraordinary contributions to sobriety in the community. A luncheon will be held at Ventura Hall in Topawa, AZ, on Sat., Jan. 22, 2000 beginning at noon, followed by a program. All friends are welcome to attend. ALEX U. OCHOA, 40, of Tucson, passed away January 13, 2000 after 12 years of living in Hawaii. Alex came home to be with family when he was suddenly called by the Lord. He is survived by one son, Alex Jr.; both parents, Richard P. Ochoa and Clara U. Ochoa; two brothers, Richard (Lorraine) Ochoa and Joe Ochoa; four sisters, Lucy Guerrero, Gloria (Richard) Padilla, Patricia (Richard) Leeth, Jennie (Reynaldo) Silvas; 13 nieces and nephews, many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends that love and will miss him greatly. Visitation will be held 4:00 to 10:00 p.m., Monday, January 17, 2000 at Carrillo's Tucson Mortuary, South Chapel, 240 S. Stone Ave., with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 18, 2000 at St. Augustine's Cathedral, 192 S. Stone Ave. Inurnment to follow at 'A' Mountain.

JUDITH ANITA DIXON/PRICE passed into the hands of God on January 12, 2000. She was born in Phoenix, Arizona at St. Joseph's Hospital on September 4, 1937, to Bethelgene and Ralph B. Dixon. She was preceded in death by her beloved brother, Ralph B. Dixon, Jr., on December 9, 1999.
Mrs. Price attended the University of Arizona and later worked there for over ten years as Administrative Assistant to the Dean of the School of Agriculture, a position she cherished because it brought her into contact with so many earnest and hopeful young people. While working at the U. of A. she was elected an honorary member of the Alpha Zeta Fraternity.
She is survived by her husband, William D. Price; her four sons and one daughter, Gabriel A. Fussell, Ronald V. Fussell, Thomas R. Fussell, Jr., David V. Price and Teresa E. Price; as well as two granddaughters, Leah Price and Ciera Price. Additionally she is survived by her brotherin-law Donald L. Price, her half-bother Donald B. Dixon, and her beloved sister, caretaker and friend, Virginia C. Dixon. A small, private service will be held at Bring's Funeral Home on January 16, 2000, at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers sent, Judy requested donations be made in her name to the contributor's favorite hospice or cancer research foundation.

ANITA VALLE ALVAREZ, 71, of Tucson, passed away on January 14, 2000. Survivors include her children, Frank Alvarez; Mary (Armand) Alvarez-Salese, Patsy Alvarez-Anaya; daughter-in-law, Norma Alvarez; grandchildren, Panchito, Sergio, Andrea, Soraya, Erika, Damian, Davina, Robert, Danette, Denise, Correen, Nathan; great-grandchildren, Sabrina, Cesar, and Maddux. Anita was preceded in death by her husband, Jesus; and her son, TPD Officer, Ralph Alvarez. Friends may call at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY, 5401 S. Park Ave., Tuesday, January 18 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. with Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Monica's Catholic Church, 212 W. CURTIS, Donny Richard, 46, of Tucson, passed away on Tuesday, January 11, 2000. Donny is survived by family members, R.S. 'Dick' Curtis, Jr.; Richard H. Curtis; Andrea Olson and Peggy C. Jelks. Memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 18, 2000 at ARIZONA MORTUARY, University Chapel. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made in Donny Curtis' name to Ronald McDonald House, 2230 E. Speedway Blvd., Tucson, AZ 85719.

DOW, Vernon Thayer, died January 2, 2000. Born February 2, 1912, in Pullman, Washington, he became a mining engineer who worked in copper and lead mines in Colorado, Arkansas, Idaho and Arizona. He later worked for several government agencies including the USGS, the BLM, the Bureau of Mines and the Forest Service. He was a passionate and skillful trout fisherman as well as a strong hiker and backpacker. He also loved to dance and to work in the garden. A fair and generous man with both his time and his money, he demonstrated a keen sense of responsibility and duty towards family, community and country. He is survived by his wife, Edna Sanden Dow; two daughters, Patricia and Elaine; a sister, Winifred Fuller; and several grandchildren.

LEVIN, William, 90, of Tucson, died January 15, 2000. Born December 1, 1909 in Louisville, KY. He was a U.S. Army WWII veteran. Survived by wife, Clara Levin of Tucson; children, M. Louis Levin of Phoenix; Malcolm Levin of Tucson; Devie Levin of Nashville, TN; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. Graveside Service was held Sunday, Congregation Anshei Israel Section of Evergreen cemetery, with Rabbi Robert Eisen officiating.
