BOLE, William Robert, 71, of Gatewood, MO, died suddenly Monday, November 29, 1999 in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Survived by his wife, Wanda; son, Daniel (Connie) Wichita, Kansas; four daughters, Joy Jamison (Wilbur) of Tucson, Eileen Bedel, Karen McChristian and Mary Bustamante (Carlos) all of Marana; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was born January 27, 1928 in Hyner, PA. He moved to Marana in 1973 and retired from Pima County in 1983. He and his wife then moved to Gatewood, MO. A memorial service will be held January 20, 2000, 6:30 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 13450 N. Lon Adams Rd., Marana, AZ. Bishop Tom Fallows officiating. The family requests no flowers.

CORYELL, Kirby C., died suddenly on January 9, 2000. Born in Seattle, March 14, 1921 to George K. Coryell and Julianna Carlander Coryell, and raised in Seattle and on Vashon Island with his three brothers. After the Annapolis Naval Academy, he was commissioned and served for five years mainly in the South Pacific, retiring as a Lt. Commander. After the Second World War, he earned his degree in Geology at the University of Washington. He loved studying the earth structures and the life in the mountains and wilderness. His professional career was with the Atomic Energy Commission, and for many years with Union Carbide Corp. as Chief Geologist Exploration, Western States. In 1965, he found the largest known deposit of Vanadium in the U.S., and later, a major deposit of Molybdenum in Texas. Since 1968, and to date, he has been a consultant specializing in copper exploration.
He is survived by Margaret Coryell and their children, Marilyn Taylor Coca, Phillip Taylor (Helen), Beth Alvarado (Fernando), and Kathryn Graham (Jon); and by his eight grandchildren, Michael (Sara), Kathryn, Meg, Aidan, Trina (Donnie), Tammarie, Stephanie, and Tasha; also, three great-grandchildren. Kirby was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Kenyon, and his granddaughter, Michelle. He is also survived by his brothers, George C. Coryell (Georgiana) and Don Coryell (Aliisa) and by many nieces and nephews. In addition, he leaves behind many friends and colleagues. We all loved him and will greatly miss him. He was kind, gentle, generous, and a true scholar of the profession he loved. A memorial service was held for the family. If desired, a donation to your favorite charity would be appreciated. As Kirby loved dogs, the Humane Society would be an appropriate choice.

FIUMANO, Morris V., 86, died January 17, 2000. Husband of Maryanne Fiumano; father of Francis (Alma) Fiumano; grandfather of Karen, Michael and Christopher Fiumano; brother of Catherine Friscia, Josephine Fiumano, Santa Masone, Angela Mongoni, Jenny Purpi, Paul Fiumano and Anthony Fiumano. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #4903. Scripture Service 6:00 p.m., Thursday, January 20, 2000 at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL. Mass will be offered 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 21, 2000 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 1800 N. Camino Pio Decimo. Interment will follow at Our Lady of the Desert cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, January 20, 2000 at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.

HATCHER, Clifford C., 81, of Tucson, died January 17, 2000. Cliff became an amateur radio operator at the age of 16. He was active in Search and Rescue, teaching new Radio Hams, and other community services. He was a teacher in the TUSD and Amphi Districts for many years.
Husband of Sarah K. Hatcher of Tucson; father of Kathy (Alex) Sederholm of Tucson, Margaret A. (Sam) Samaniego of San Jose, Calif; four grandchildren, Scott, Sam, Andy and Adriana; brother of Norman Hatcher of East Alton, Illinois, Erma Sells of Cupertino, Calif.; uncle of Ann Sikes of Fredricktown, Missouri.

HAYDEN, Camille H., 89, born into eternal life January 18, 2000. Devoted wife of the late Thomas G. Hayden, Sr.; and beloved mother of Donald M., Richard L. (Janet), Michael P. (Carol), Darlene Sue Cachey, Bonni G. Olson (G. Darrell), Thomas A. (Peggy); and stepmother to Thomas G., Jr. (Loretta). She leaves 25 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force and grocery management. He was an amateur orchardist and marketed fruit to independent groceries. LADD, Virginia (Jinny) - A memorial to celebrate the life of Virginia (Jinny) Ladd will be held beginning at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 22, 2000, in the Desert Garden on the grounds of the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum.

MONTES, Jesus Y., age 68, a Tucson resident for the past 50 years, went to be with the Lord on January 18, 2000. Born February 5, 1931 in Las Panchas, Sonora, Mexico. Survived by his children, Esther (Elias) Martinez, David (Dolores) Montes, Michel (Diana) Montes, Jesse Montes, Danny (Anna) Lofton, Lily (Ralph) Villa; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 22, 2000 at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY, 5401 S. Park Ave.

PETERSON, Victoria Maria Sandberg, was born in the farming community of Ruthton, Minnesota on May 22, 1910. She was employed by Pepsi Cola and Montgomery Wards in accounting. She married Ralph L. Peterson in 1947. They and daughter, Maryann, moved to south Texas and then to Tucson in 1951. She passed away on January 10, 2000 as a result of complications from a hip fracture. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph of Tucson; parents, Emma and Ole Sandberg of Ruthton; brother, John O. Sandberg of Tucson; and sister, Clara E. Sandberg of Tucson. In addition to Maryann, she is survived by a granddaughter, Nicolette; sister and brother-in-law, Isabelle and William Matus of Benson, Minnesota; sisterin-law, Elsie Sandberg of Tucson. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 22 at 4:00 in the Recreation Center of Crescent Manor officiated by Rev. James Lundeen of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. Interment in Minnesota will be at a later date.

WINSTON LEE SMITH, 48, died January 18, 2000. He will always be remembered as a kind, loving, and gentle man with a keen sense of humor and infectious optimism. Winston was well known in Tucson as a devoted Democrat who worked most of his adult life toward achieving party ideals through election of Democratic candidates. He held numerous State and County party leadership positions and received many honors including Outstanding District Chair, Outstanding Candidate Volunteer, and, most recently, membership in the elite Democratic Hall of Fame. Winston was born on November 27, 1951 in Louisville, KY to Robert and Sally Smith. He attended Bloomingburg Elementary School and Miami Trace High School in Washington Courthouse, OH before moving west to attend Northern Arizona University where he graduated in 1976 with a B.S. in Geology. Professionally, he worked as an industrial engineer in Arizona and Utah copper mines, a food service manager at the University of Arizona, a licensed stockbroker, and most recently as a water treatment supervisor at the Arizona State Prison Complex. He was an active member of the Dove of Peace Lutheran Church in Tucson, servicing on its leadership council in 1998. He was a member of the Alpha Epsilon Pi Fraternity and the Sons of the American Revolution. Winston touched the lives of so many individuals including the patients and staff of the Arizona Cancer Center where he spent the last six years fighting to survive melanoma, one of the deadliest forms of cancer that is taking a life of a loved one every hour of every day of the year in the U.S. His family gives their heartfelt thanks to his doctors, and the nursing and support staff of the Arizona Cancer Center for their kindness and unwavering support in helping to fulfill Winston's wish to fight this, currently incurable, disease. Winston leaves behind many loving family and friends including his wife, Julie; mother, Sally Smith; sister, Beth (Tony) Guepin; brother, Bob (Mary Beth) Smith; nephews, Jason and Brad Smith; niece, Amy (Greg) Gilmore; mother and father-in-law, Mac and Kathy McColley. A celebration of Winston's life will be held at Dove of Peace Lutheran Church, 665 W. Roller Coaster Rd., on Tuesday, January 25 at 4:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, his family suggest donations to the Winston Smith Memorial Fund for Cancer Research, c/o Arizona Cancer Center/UAF, (make check payable to Arizona Cancer Center/UAF), P.O. TACKETT, Wrinferd Clyde, Jr., 73, of Tucson, died Tuesday, January 18, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Willie; children, Marsha (Jim) Lichtenhan of Green Valley, David Tackett of Phoenix, John (Sally) Tackett of Mesa, AZ, Burt Tackett of Lakeside, AZ; brother, Ray (Erdine) Tackett of Casa Grande; sisters, Ruth Young of Tucson, Marian (Jack) Dean of Signal Mountain, TN, Janice (Robert) Barnes of Casa Grande, Ethelyn Pettijohn of Casa Grande; 10 grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Tackett was born in Douglas, Arizona and was raised in Tucson. He graduated early from Tucson High School in 1944 to serve in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After the war he attended the University of Arizona and was a member of the football team. He owned and operated T Bar 4 RV sales until his retirement in 1990. Mr. Tackett was a member of Tucson Lodge #4, F. & A.M., Tucson Scottish Rite, and Sabbar Shrine Temple. Masonic Memorial Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 22, 2000 at Tucson Lodge #4, 1944 E. Allen Rd. Memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the American Diabetes Assoc., 40 N. Swan Rd., Tucson, 85711. Arrangements entrusted to HEATHER MORTUARY.

TRASK, Edith Douglass, born August 22, 1901, died January 18, 2000. Born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee, Edith married Gordon W. Trask in 1921 and in 1933 the family moved to suburban Chicago. Oak Park was home until retirement took Edie, as she preferred to be called, and Gordon to Claremont, California in the early 60's. In 1993, she moved to Tucson to be closer to family. Edie was preceded in death by her husband and oldest son, Gordon, Jr. Survivors include daughter-in-law, Ann Fazendin of Hawaii; son, Doug and wife, Ruth, who reside in Tucson. In addition, she leaves two sisters, seven grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. Edie will be remembered for her long and vigorous life. She was loved by all and will be truly missed. Burial will be in Memphis. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave. (@ Magee).

VALENZUELA, Juan 'Negro' Jose, age 32, a 20 year resident of Tucson, passed away January 18, 2000. Born April 15, 1967 in Nogales, Sonora, Mexico. Survived by his girlfriend, Gaby Carrasco; children, Juan Jose, Julio Cesar, Jesus Emilio, Sandra, Clarissa, Adriana, Stephanie, Chelsea; mother, Laura Vega; father, Jose Angel Valenzuela; grandmother, Maria Jesus Vega; brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. preceded in death by his brother, Jesus Vega. A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. today at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY, 5401 S. Park Ave., Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 21, 2000 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will follow at South Lawn cemetery.

WENSINK, Donald W., age 73, beloved father of Gary (Eileen), Mark (Linda), Karyn Slanec, Donna (Thomas) Ramsden; dear brother of Ted (Agnes); 11 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; dearest friend and companion, Lois Speakman also survive. BENAVIDES, Gary G., 34 years old, died Monday, January 17, 2000 in Tucson. Born on January 11, 1966 in Tucson, Arizona. Survived by his mother, Raquel Deerwester and stepfather, Robert Deerwester of Tucson; son, Christopher Michael Sherrick of Glendale, AZ; grandparents, Esther Gonzalez of San Simon, AZ, and Martin Benavides of New Braunfels, Texas; two sisters, Catherine M. Hartman of Plano, Texas, Esther N. Durhan stationed in Okinawa; four nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins from Texas, California and Arizona. Services will be held Monday, 10:00 a.m. January 24, at WOLFREY PEACE CHAPEL, 5225 E. Speedway. Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Holy Hope cemetery.

BRADY, Beatrice, 91, passed away January 19, 2000. Survived by daughter, June (Raymond) Harden; son, Richard (Carmen) Brady; 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and sister, Lupe Van Ark. Joan Lorraine Callahan (nee Guilbault)
Born August 8, 1933 in Blackstone, Massachusetts, passed away January 19, 2000 after a brief illness. Beloved and adored wife of Cornelius J. Callahan of Tucson; adored stepmother of Paul Druppel of Orono, ME, Dorothy Desisto of Westborough, MA, Lucia Casey of St. Helena, CA, Shirley Huber of Northborough, MA and Cornelius J. Callahan, Jr. of Winthrop, MA; sister of Maurice J. Guilbault of Millville, MA, Claire Mayberry of Sun City, CA and Dr. Robert O. Guilbault of Huntington, MA and Punta Gorda, FL. in-laws, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and friends from all over the U.S., Canada and Europe will sorely miss this most beautiful person who only saw the good in all people. Kindness and understanding was her trademark through life. She retired as Chief Procurement Officer of Defense Department Research Laboratories in Natick, Massachusetts in 1988 after 34 years of U.S. Government Service. preceded in death by her parents, sister, Lucille Proctor and brother, Raymond Guilbault. CARTER, Audrey, age 79, of Tucson, passed away January 18, 2000. Survived by nine children, 24 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren and one sister in Huntington, West Virginia. COCHRAN, Vida M., 75, Matriarch, counselor, and best friend, entered into rest January 19, 2000. Vida was originally from Eden, Arizona, the daughter of Daniel Elijah Hawkins and Amy Palmer. A lifelong resident of Arizona, Vida willingly gave unconditional love to her family and friends. The Catalina Mountains were her anchor, and the good Lord, her life long guide. Vida was deeply loved, and her companionship and grand sense of humor will be dearly missed. She was preceded in death by husbands, Frank Adams and Joe L. Cochran; and by son, Brent Henderson Cochran. She is survived by sister, Daisy Carrell of Prescott, Arizona; daughter, Frankie Lynne Martin of Tucson, Arizona; and sons, Timothy Joe Cochran of Casa Grande, Arizona, Cary Benjamin Cochran of Citrus Heights, California and John Norman Cochran of Flagstaff, Arizona, in addition to numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation will take place on Sunday, January 23, 2000 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, 5801 E. Grant Road. Graveside Funeral Service and Committal will take place Monday, January 24, 2000 at 10:00 a.m. in East Lawn Palms cemetery.

FLORES, Erlinda M., 88, of Tucson, Arizona, passed away January 17, 2000. Survived by daughters, Irene Bernal, Sara Flores, Angelita (Mathew) Lewis and Elvida (Randy) Valdez; sons, Ray (Sonny), Phillip (Olivia), David (Liz) Flores and Mark (Carmen) Vancini; sister, Julia Mendevil; brother, Raul (Eva) Moreno. Also survived by 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 23, 2000 from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. at CARRILLO'S TUCSON MORTUARY, (South Chapel), 240 S. Stone Ave., with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered on Monday, January 24, 2000, 9:30 a.m. at St. John's Church, 602 W. Ajo Way. Interment to follow at Holy Hope cemetery. HAWKE, Mayone Ruth Youngs Burns, born in Alma, MI, May 1, 1906, died in Tucson, AZ, January 16, 2000. Educated at Kalamazoo College where she received her bachelor's and master's degrees in Library Science. Mayone worked for both the Tucson Public Library and the Amphi Elementary School District where she was a tireless advocate for children's reading programs and the availability of quality reading material. She helped found and organize the library of Trinity Presbyterian Church where she was a long time member and leader. Mayone served two terms as president of Altrusa International of Tucson, and held the offices of Secretary and Treasurer for Delta Kappa Gamma (The International Honor Society for Women in Education). She was a devoted supporter of the YWCA and a former moderator of the Presbyterian 'Church Women United'. Survivors include nephews, Scott Youngs of Phoenix, and Norman Youngs of Tucson; also her sister-in-law, Charlotte Youngs of Tucson; two stepsons, George Hawke (Mildred) and Francis Hawke (Avonelle); step daughter-in-law, Estelle Hawke and families, all of Tucson; and many nephews and nieces in MI. Memorial service to be held Sunday, January 23 at 3:00 p.m. at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 400 E. University Blvd., Tucson, AZ 85705. Memorial remembrances may be made to Trinity Presbyterian Church.
