IRWIN, James Edward, 67, of Tucson, passed away January 19, 2000. Jim is survived by his wife of 42 years, Hana; son, Ed (Mary); daughters, Margo, Laurel Irwin and Kathy (John) Corcoran; eight grandchildren; sister, Maureen Timothy; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Born in N.J., Jim moved to AZ in 1943, graduated from Tucson High, 1950, and from U of A, 1956. He worked as business manager for Sunnyside Schools for 24 years. He worked for Silver City, N.M. schools and retired from his seven year position as materials management director for the City of Yuma in 1990. Jim was a life member of the Association of School Business Officials, and on the Board of Directors, past president, and involved with Pima Federal Credit Union for over 35 years. In retirement, he worked through Retiree Skills at St. Gregory Preparatory School. Jim was dedicated to his family and friends, and always put others ahead of himself. He was a WWII history buff and enjoyed camping, hiking, travel, reading and spending time with his grandchildren. The example Dad set for his family of selflessness and devotion to doing what was right was and will continue to be an inspiration. Visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Saturday, January 22, at ARIZONA MORTUARY UNIVERSITY CHAPEL. Mass intention at a later date. PETERSON, Victoria Maria Sandberg, was born in the farming community of Ruthton, Minnesota on May 22, 1910. She was employed by Pepsi Cola and Montgomery Wards in accounting. She married
Ralph L. Peterson in 1947. They and daughter, Maryann, moved to south Texas and then to Tucson in 1951. She passed away on January 10, 2000 as a result of complications from a hip fracture. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph of Tucson; parents, Emma and Ole Sandberg of Ruthton; brother, John O. Sandberg of Tucson; and sister, Clara E. Sandberg of Tucson. In addition to Maryann, she is survived by a granddaughter, Nicolette; sister and brother-in-law, Isabelle and William Matus of Benson, Minnesota; sisterin-law, Elsie Sandberg of Tucson. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 22 at 4:00 in the Recreation Center of Crescent Manor officiated by Rev. James Lundeen of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. Interment in Minnesota will be at a later date.

Age 44, passed away January 19, 2000. Born January 7, 1956, at MacDill AFB in Tampa, FL. to Gerald Racicot and Diana Brooks Anderson, both of Tucson. Also survived by daughter, Devon (Paul) Bergeron; son, Jonathan (Lecia) Suter; and grandbaby, Braylynn Bergeron; sister, Meredith (Jim) White; brother, Eric (Gloria Pryor) Racicot, and half-brother and sister, Jerry (Jennifer) and Karina Racicot. Also, very special friend, Jim Hendrix.
'What you see is what you get' pretty much spells out what Leslie was all about; so real; so easy to know; so easy to like. Envision a child-like nymph romping thru the flowers and grasses of a sun-splashed meadow, hair flowing, skirts billowing, and you will capture the image of the free spirit in Leslie.

JESSICA MARIE ROSALES
August 22, 1979 – January 9, 2000
Our beloved Jessica, a caring mother, a loving daughter and a wonderful sister, was called to heaven after a long battle with liver disease. Jessica was born with a birth defect known as biliary atresia and showed her fighting spirit at an early age by surviving several operations as a child. After her rough early years, she lived a normal and happy life until falling ill last year from complications linked to her birth defect. She lighted up a room with her smile and her outgoing nature made her countless friends. She was a tenacious fighter until the end and she will always be missed. Her life was too short, but she made a tremendous impact on those whose lives she touched.
Jessica is survived by boyfriend, Billy Sotelo; daughter, Alicia; parents, Maria and Francisco Rosales; brothers, Martin, Julio (Hilda) and Frank; sisters, Patty, Claudia (Josh) and Rocio (Kevin); nephews, David and Josue; and nieces, Bianca, Brianna and Aricela, all of Tucson.
Visitation will be tonight from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. at Carrillo's Tucson Mortuary, South Chapel, 240 S. Stone Ave. A Mass will be said at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Augustine Cathedral, with burial to follow at Holy Hope cemetery.
ROSTHENHOUSER, 'Uncle' Frank, age 71, passed away Saturday, January 8, 2000. He is survived by one sister, Maria R. Manuela of Los Angeles, CA; and by numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Mr. Rosthenhouser had worked for S.L.C. Services at Park Mall, Arizona Inn and Hilton, retiring in 1993. He loved his work as painter, groundskeeper and maintenance man. A visitation will be held at ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, Dodge Chapel, on Monday, January 24, 2000 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., with the Rosary being recited at 3:00 p.m. Burial will follow at a later date in the National Memorial cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix, AZ. 'Uncle' Frank will be missed by his many nieces and nephews.

WINSTON LEE SMITH, 48, died January 18, 2000. He will always be remembered as a kind, loving, and gentle man with a keen sense of humor and infectious optimism. Winston was well known in Tucson as a devoted Democrat who worked most of his adult life toward achieving party ideals through election of Democratic candidates. He held numerous State and County party leadership positions and received many honors including Outstanding District Chair, Outstanding Candidate Volunteer, and, most recently, membership in the elite Democratic Hall of Fame. Winston was born on November 27, 1951 in Louisville, KY to Robert and Sally Smith. He attended Bloomingburg Elementary School and Miami Trace High School in Washington Courthouse, OH before moving west to attend Northern Arizona University where he graduated in 1976 with a B.S. in Geology. Professionally, he worked as an industrial engineer in Arizona and Utah copper mines, a food service manager at the University of Arizona, a licensed stockbroker, and most recently as a water treatment supervisor at the Arizona State Prison Complex. He was an active member of the Dove of Peace Lutheran Church in Tucson, serving on its leadership council in 1998. He was a member of the Alpha Epsilon Pi Fraternity and the Sons of the American Revolution. Winston touched the lives of so many individuals including the patients and staff of the Arizona Cancer Center where he spent the last six years fighting to survive melanoma, one of the deadliest forms of cancer that is taking a life of a loved one every hour of every day of the year in the U.S. His family gives their heartfelt thanks to his doctors, and the nursing and support staff of the Arizona Cancer Center for their kindness and unwavering support in helping to fulfill Winston's wish to fight this, currently incurable, disease. Winston leaves behind many loving family and friends including his wife, Julie; mother, Sally Smith; sister, Beth (Tony) Guepin; brother, Bob (Mary Beth) Smith; nephews, Jason and Brad Smith; niece, Amy (Greg) Gilmore; mother and father-in-law, Mac and Kathy McColley. BELL, Clyde Francis, 87, died January 19, 2000. Born December 16, 1912 on a farm near Ethel, MO to Frederick and Edna Bell. preceded in death by wife, Miriam, also from MO and a teacher. Survived by foster son, Dennis Pratt; sisters, Adilene Corcoran of Macon, MO and Naomi (John) Atkinson of Clovis, NM; nieces and nephews also survive. Mr. Bell was a business education teacher whose aim in life was 'to have contributed'. He graduated from La Plata High School in MO, attended Truman University at Kirksville, MO and graduate school at the University of Wisconsin at Larainie. He completed his education with a Master's Degree from the University of Arizona. He taught school in Granger, MO; the University of Wisconsin; and in West Bend, WI before moving to Arizona in 1946. His teaching career in Tucson began with Mansfield Junior High, where he spent eight years, before moving to Tucson High School, where he spent four years. He then taught at Rincon High School for twenty years, retiring in 1978. His professional affiliations include an Emeritus Membership in Phi Delta Kappa and Pi Omega Pi, an honorary business fraternity. He prepared thousands of students for careers in bookkeeping, typing and general business practices. (Yes, Mr. Bell, you 'contributed'.) Following his retirement, he traveled extensively in North America and Europe. Funeral Services were held Saturday, January 22 at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY. Interment was in East Lawn Palms cemetery.

BRECKENRIDGE, Ralph Carroll, 84, of Tucson, Arizona, died December 28, 1999, while at his home.
Born October 7, 1915 in Chicago, Illinois to Ralph C. and Katheran Withelm. He survived his wife Virginia, of 55 years, who died June 2, 1995.
He is survived by his children, Mrs. Donna (David) O'Keefe of Scottsdale, AZ and Mrs. Barbara (Alex) Boyd of Chicago; one son, Brad (Joan) of Tucson; and seven grandchildren.
Ralph and Virginia were a devoted couple raising their children in Peoria, Ill. from 1942-79 and retiring to Tucson. Ralph was a family man, provider, great company, and a voracious reader. A man with many worthwhile interests and a love for the southwest. Cremation has been accorded and private services have been held.
