BURNS, L. Joan, 70, of Tucson AZ, formerly of Washington Township, NJ, passed away February 5, 2000. preceded in death by brother, Orville. Survived by loving husband, William; daughters, Louise (Tom) Mullet of FL, Barbara Gill of NJ, Linda Chiandusse of NY, Vicky Klumpp of NM; nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, multiple nieces and nephews and friends. She was a member of AZ LPN, NAPNES and AAMA. Friends may call from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. with a scripture service at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 8 at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave. Private services will be held at a later date. Donations may be made to Children to Children, 3922 N. Mountain Ave., Tucson, AZ 85719.

LOVELL M. ELLIOTT, 78, beloved wife of Leroy Elliott, passed away on February 4, 2000. Born in Toronto, Canada, she moved to the U.S. in 1951 and became a citizen five years later. Lovell was a resident of Tucson since 1980. She is survived by her husband, Leroy; two daughters, Linda Christy of Sierra Vista and Leslie Whitman of Marathon, FL. She is also survived by her three sisters, Helena, Marilyn, and Norma; and three brothers, Eldon, Wilford, and Eric, all now living in Canada and Florida. She has six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Most of her life she was involved in music, as a soloist for a large church in Michigan for 15 years and as a featured singer during the WW II singing for the 'boys in service' in Canada. She was a part of several singing groups including Sweet Adelines. A Celebration of Life will be held at Far Horizons Mobile Home Park, 5000 E. Grant Rd., Friday, February 11, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimers Association in Tucson. Lovell will be deeply missed by her husband, her family, and her friends. God is blessing her now. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. (at Speedway).

GRANICA, Edward E., (EMCS US NAVY RET), 82, beloved father, grandfather and brother, died Sunday, February 6, 2000. Survived by daughter, Mary (Paul) Heilig; son, Malon, both of Tucson; grandchildren, Amy Heilig, Sharrie Splane, Tonja Nash, Sean Granica and Melanie Port; seven great grandchildren; sisters, Viola Klein, Wanda Paluch, Jenny Witkowski; bothers, Chester and Leo Granica; and nephew, David Granica. Mr. Granica retired from the Navy following 30 years of service where he was the Super Chief Electrician, the highest rank you can achieve in the electric field. Edward also retired from Pinkerton's following 15 years of service as a security guard. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Assoc. and Boys Town. Mass will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 10, 2000 at St. Josephs Catholic Church, 215 S. Craycroft Rd. Interment East Lawn Palms cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Remembrances may be made to Fleet Reserve Assoc.

HALL, Audrey E., of Danville, IL, went home to be with the Lord on February 6, 2000 in Tucson, AZ. Born December 2, 1922 in Chicago, IL, daughter of Blanche and Charles Jones. Survived by husband, Martin E., Sr. of Danville; daughter, Nancy Caldron of Maple Valley, WA; daughter, Elizabeth Bluett of Lowell, IN; and son, Martin E., Jr. of Orland Park, IL; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at Wycliffe Center in Catalina, AZ, Wednesday, February 9th at 3:00 p.m.
Audrey enjoyed 27 years of hospital volunteer work, also taught Sunday school in her younger years. She served as caregiver for the past 11 years to retired Wycliffe Bible translators. She loved the Lord and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

LONG, Vivian May, age 70, of Tucson, passed away Thursday, February 3, 2000. She is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Frances Harrison. Beloved mother and grandmother. She is survived by her children, Karen (Mark) Bustamante, and Kevin Long, both of Tucson; grandson, Matthew Bustamante of Tucson; and brothers, David (Inge), Ron (Heather), and Ken Harrison, all of Canada. Vivian was an Office Specialist in the Chemistry Dept. at the University of Arizona for ten years. Friends may call Thursday, February 10, 2000 from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. at ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Dodge just south of Speedway. A Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Humane Society.

PITCHFORD, Rachel Virginia, 75, died January 24, 2000. Sister of Marian Graham, of FL. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was born in Marietta, GA, and was a long time resident of Tucson. Rachel was a member of Twenty Second Street Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Major Edward Pitchford. Graveside service 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 9, 2000 at Ft. Huachuca cemetery, Ft. Huachuca, AZ. QUINN, Helen M., 79, passed away January 30, 2000. preceded in death by husband, Harold; son, Michael; and sister, Norma. Survived by son, David of Tucson, AZ; daughter, Pam Boyd (Ted) of Monroe, WA; four grandchildren; and two great-grand- children. Memorial Services were held at Monroe Community Chapel in Monroe, WA February 3. Interment Southlawn cemetery.

SMALLEY, Mary K., 92, passed away February 5, 2000. Survived by children, Helen Bird of Tucson, Jack (Florence) Perkins of Akron, OH, William Allen (Barbara) Perkins of Green Valley, Joseph Smalley of Tucson, Jerry (Carolyn) Smalley of Dalton, OH, Susan Young and Emily (Donald) Williams, all of Navarre, OH; stepdaughter, Laura Lee (Lin) Stokes of FL: many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren. Memorial Service 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 8 in Ramada #2 at Dennis Weaver Park, 23 W. Calle Concordia, Oro Valley. Arrangements entrusted to HEATHER MORTUARY.

SMITH, Edgar D., Maj. USAF, Ret., 88, passed away February 2, 2000 in Marietta, GA. He was born in Eugene OR, January 24, 1912. He served in the 1st Bombardment Wing at Davis-Monthan AFB, where he married Frances Schnaufer in 1943, and in the 41st Bomb Group during WWII. After retiring from the Air Force in 1961, he worked for El Rancho Markets in Tucson and Phoenix. He lived in Phoenix until his wife's death in 1998, when he moved to Georgia. Ed was a charter member of the Air Force Association and a life member of the Retired Officers Association. Graveside services will be at Evergreen cemetery, Thursday, February 10, at 2:00 p.m. He is lovingly remembered by his children, Brenda and David Newitter of W. Simsbury, CT and Linda Bradner and Andy Williams of Acworth, GA; grandchildren, Daniel, Philip, Lindsay, Justin and Kerry; great-granddaughter, Angie; two sisters and a brother. The family requests that donations be sent in memory of Edgar D. and Frances S. Smith to The University of Arizona Sarver Heart Center, P.O. Box 245046, Tucson, AZ 85724-5046. SPENCER, Maylea Rose, eight months, of Tucson, AZ, daughter of Jessica Rzepecki and Jesse Spencer; granddaughter of Bill and Nancy Rzepecki, and Randall and Sandy Hartman; was called home to be with the Lord on February 1, 2000. Visitation will be at Community Church of the Foothills, 480 E. Ina Rd., from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 9, 2000. STATEN, Christine, 36, of Tucson, AZ, died Saturday, February 5, 2000. She is survived by son, Kyle; parents, Bud and Bonnie Staten of Tucson; sisters, Lea Muckey of Tucson, Royanna Butler of Germany; brothers, Shawn Staten of Missouri, Neil Staten of Tucson, and extended family and friends. William D. Trewhitt - Born in Prairie Grove, Arkansas, November 26, 1926, died in Newport, Oregon January 17, 2000. Bill received Bachelor and Master's degrees from University of Arkansas and was a member of Phi Delta Kappa. He served in the military 1983rd area service unit. From 1962 through 1987 Bill was employed as a special education teacher and administrator for Amphitheater School District. Bill Trewhitt's friends are invited to attend a celebration of his life on Sunday, February 13, 10:00 a.m. San Pedro Chapel, 5230 E. Ft. Lowell Rd.

VARNER, Mike A., age 45, died February 3, 2000. Mike was born in Tucson, Arizona on August 2, 1954. He is survived by his mother, Victoria of Tucson; brother, Nick, Tucson; brother, Tim, Flagstaff, Arizona; and daughters, Nicholette and Raya of Eastham, Mass. Mike's sense of humor and love and appreciation of music will be missed by all who knew him. Mike worked in printing and graphics, was a musician, and at the time of his death, was the sound man for the band Goodfoot. Mike's ashes will be spread in the mountains of northwestern Montana, the place that both he and his father, who preceded him in death, loved more than any other on this earth. A memorial will be held on Wednesday, February 9 at 7:00 p.m. at WOLFREY PEACE CHAPEL, 5225 E. Speedway. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Heart Association.

WATKINS, Donald D., 60, died February 4, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Jackie; two daughters, Debbie Louthain and Tammi Kasel; three grandchildren, Briana Kasel, Chad 'CJ' Kasel and Nicholas Louthain, all of Tucson; one aunt, Viola Tuller of Somerset, Kentucky; one brother-in-law, Ennis Warren of Redding, CT and a host of other relatives and friends.
Don was a former employee of IBM and a member of the Quarter Century Club. He was a military veteran of the Air Force.
Private memorial services will be held.

BACKMAN, Mary J., 79, a 14 year resident of Vacaville, CA, died February 6, 2000 at her home after a short illness. Survived by her son and daughter-in-law, David and Michelle Bachman of Carlisle; daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Tom Symons of Vacaville and Cathy and Joe Niebur of Colorado Springs, CO; sister, Dorothy Hutchison of Tucson, AZ; grandchildren, Greg Bachman of CO, Angelia Reimers of PA, Jennifer Symons and Julia Symons, both of Vacaville, Logan Niebur, Colin Niebur and Evan Niebur, all of Colorado Springs, CO; and six great-grandchildren. She was born May 11, 1920 in Butler, PA and was a long time resident of both Pennsylvania and Arizona. She was a clerk for J. C. Penney for 21 years and enjoyed crocheting, puzzles and playing cards. Visitation Wednesday, February 9 at 7:00 p.m. at Vaca Hills Chapel, Vacaville, CA. Funeral Service Thursday, February 10 at 10:00 a.m. in Vaca Hills Chapel with Pastor Thomas Smith of First Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial Vacaville-Elmira cemetery. COCHRAN, Patricia Ann, M.Ed., 56 years old, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, teacher and friend, passed away Monday, February 7, 2000, in Tucson. Survived by her loving husband, Oran W. Cochran Jr.; children, Cynthia (A.J.) Hermida, Teresa (Tim) Browne, Timothy Cochran; sister, Rosemary (Leo) Jamieson; and brother, Alex (Madelyn) Cook; five grandchildren. She was a teacher at O.M.O.S. Catholic School for 12 years. Devoted to her profession and the children she loved. Funeral Mass will be said at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, 1800 S. Kolb Road, at 10:00 A.M. Thursday February 10, with burial to follow at Our Lady of the Desert cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday February 9 from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. with Rosary/Scripture Service at 7:30 P.M. at the Church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to O.M.O.S. Catholic School, 1800 S. Kolb Rd. or Tucson Medical Center Hospice Program, 5301 E. Grant Road, Tucson, AZ 85712.

COOK, James L., his spirit suddenly left us Friday, February 4, 2000 and we relinquished his body February 7, 2000. He leaves his loving family: his wife, Linda; children, Wendy (John), Jim, Kevin (Jennifer); adopted five grandchildren; his mother, sister and brothers. All are saddened more than any words can say. A Celebration of his life will be held Wednesday, February 9 at 6:00 p.m. Orange Grove Mobile Estates Community Room, 3635 W. Mango Dr., off of Orange Grove.

JADICK, Patricia Ann, 48, died February 6, 2000. Mother of Christine Rose Yoachum-Jadick; daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John (Josephine) Jadick; sister of Robert John Jadick. She graduated from JFK High School in Warren, Ohio. At Duquesne University in Pittsburgh she received her degree in nursing; and her registered occupational degree was from Loma Linda University. Memorial Service 4:00 PM, Friday, February 11, 2000 at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, with Reverend Howard Higgins officiating. Donations in Patricia's memory may be made to a charity of your choice. MARGARET THEODORA JENSEN - Went to be with her Lord February 4, 2000. She would have been 95 March 5.
She was born to Sena Hansen Anderson and Charles Anderson in Minneapolis, MN on March 5, 1905.
Surviving her are two sons, LTC (Ret. USAF) Theodore N. (June) McElroy, Dr. William N. (Sharon) McElroy; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, four step grandchildren, one sister, Dorothy (Richard) Perrin of Minneapolis, MN and several caregivers and friends.
Margaret lived a busy, full life. She enjoyed childhood in Minnesota on the lakes and adulthood in California on the ocean. There she was a business woman and seamstress for a company for the actresses and raised her sons in Santa Monica, CA.
She and her husband, Herbert Jensen moved to Tucson in 1981. He predeceased her. She has blessed many lives and we'll all miss her cheerful smile. We thank all who cared for her and loved her too!
Memorial Service 12:00 Noon, Saturday, February 12, 2000 at Fountain of Life Lutheran Church, 710 S. Kolb with Pastor Kevin Kritzer and Minister Steve Wilson officiating. Memorials in Margaret's memory may be made to Fountain of Life Lutheran Church School Fund or the Humane Society. Arrangements by BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.
