ERNESTINE M. SPALDING, age 85, of Tucson, passed away on February 11, 2000. Ernestine was born to Francisco and Maria Marruffo on May 9, 1914 in Douglas, Arizona. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Paul C. Felix; second husband, Orin Spalding; daughter, Alyce Gorosave; and brothers and sisters, Francisco, Vincente, Miguel, Roberto, Guadalupe, and Edna. COOPER, Merrell W., born April 13, 1931 in Barren Co., KY, passed away at home February 11, 2000 after a long illness. JIM DANIEL HIMELIC - passed away after a courageous 4-year battle with Lou Gehrig's disease. He was born on March 19, 1947 in Salina, Kansas and grew up in Bellevue, Nebraska. He attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln on a wrestling scholarship graduating in December of 1970. He was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He graduated from the University of Arizona Law School in May of 1973. In October he began his employment at Pima County Attorney's Office. In 1975 he married
Diana Pesqueira. He left the prosecutors' office and entered private practice in 1982. Jim was appointed as a Court Commissioner in July of 1995. In January 1997, he was assigned as a judge to the Pima County Juvenile Court where he remained until his retirement last month. For 10 years Jim volunteered as a coach/manager with the Canyon del Oro Little League.
Jim is survived by his loving family: wife, Diana; children, Daniel, Ana, Michael, Jennifer, James and Jamie; parents, George and Thelma of Bellevue, Nebraska; brother, George (Judy) of Omaha, Nebraska; nephews and nieces, Mark, Kortney (Clint), Eric (Cindy), Kari, Mary, and Matthew; one grand-niece, Vanessa; and one grandnephew, Matthew.

NAOMI REICH, EDUCATOR & RESEARCH SPECIALIST, DIES AT 73.
Lymphatic cancer has claimed the life of Naomi Reich, longtime educator and retired Professor Emeritus of Family and Consumer Resources, University of Arizona. Dr. Reich was born in Greytown, Republic of South Africa in 1926.
Survivors include sons, Albert of Tucson; Simon, of Phoenix; daughter, Gail and son-in-law, David Holter of Fridley, MN; one grandson, Aaren John Reich, of Murfesboro, TN; and one great-grand- daughter Tabria. Her husband of 43 years, Brian, preceded her in 1995.
A memorial in honor of Dr. Reich has been established at the University of Arizona, School of Family and Consumer Resources, Tucson, Arizona 85721-0033. The family requests in lieu of flowers remembrances be made to the memorial fund, the Southern Arizona Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation, or the Alzheimer's Association. BETTY HELEN HOLAWAY BROWN - Born January 9, 1930, in Tucson, AZ died peacefully in her home on February 11, 2000, after a lengthy illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Webster Brown. She was a UA graduate and sports fan and letterwoman in several sports. She played softball for the Tucson Sunshine Girls. Betty was a physical eduction instructor in the Amphitheater School District for over 25 years. Friends and family remember her most for her gardening, for volunteer work with the Amphitheater District; and for her involvement in sports, including bowling and swimming. BURNETTE, William Burke, 74, died suddenly at his home in Marana, Arizona, February 11, 2000. He was born September 7, 1925 and was preceded in death by his brother and parents. He graduated from Coldwater (KS) High School and enlisted in the Navy, serving in the Marshall Islands during WWII. He was a 32nd degree Mason, a Shriner and a life member of the VFW. He is survived by his daughter, Michaelyn Burnette; his grandson, John William Tierney; and his sister, Ellen Thomison. DUNCAN, Bruce Gregory, Colonel US Air Force, Retired, died Friday, February 11, 2000. Beloved husband, father, and grandfather, he is survived by his wife of 54 years, Marjorie; daughters, Cynthia (Laird) McIntyre and Susan Duncan; son, Gregory (Rene) Duncan; grandchildren, Leslie and Megan McIntyre, Christopher and Carolyn Nault, Lauren, Kendyll and Kayla Duncan; and brother, Clark Duncan of Rockford, IL.
He was born in Ravenna, NE on January 15, 1919, and was raised in Missouri and Nebraska. He graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1940. He served in North Africa and Italy during WWII, returning to the US Air Force as a comptroller. He served for 31 years, completing a distinguished career in August 1972. He has lived in Tucson with his wife, Marjorie, since 1972, where he has been an active member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, serving the church as an elder as well as on a variety of committees. He participated in the Telecare ministry of Northwest Interfaith Center for 12 years. He was an active member of the Exchange Club.
He loved God, his friends, gardening, and U of A basketball, but his greatest joy was in his wife and family who have reaped the blessings of his time, attention, encouragement, quiet wise counsel, and unconditional love.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2000 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Andrew's, 750 West Chapala Drive, Tucson, AZ 85704.
