GUEGOLD, Martha Grace, 94, passed away January 9, 2000 in Tyler, TX.
A graveside memorial service will be held February 18, 2000 at 3:00 p.m. in Evergreen cemetery, Tucson.
She was born July 28, 1905 in Drew County, Arkansas. Prior to moving to Tyler, Martha was a resident of Tucson for 60 years. Mrs. Guegold was a retired registered nurse having practiced her profession in Tucson for many years. She was also a member of Ft. Lowell Homemakers Club and a member of Eastern Star, Arizona #2.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Stella Tubbs Ripley; husband, Henry C. Guegold; brothers, Samuel and Harlan L. Ripley; sister, Gertrude Huston; and Stepgrandson Patrick Gaffney.
Survivors include, sister, Ruth Ward of Tucson; daughter Wanda Armstrong; and Stepdaughter, Carmela Gaffney both of Tyler, Texas; five grandchildren, Gail Tout of Tucson, Martha Platt, Jane Mohn, Michael and Jiggs Gaffney all of Tyler, Texas; six great-grandchildren, Nikolas, Emily and Jesse Mohn, Gretchen, Eric and Heidi Platt all of Tyler, Texas.
She loved us all so much. WE are so blessed to have had her as our sister, mother, granny, granny great and Friend. We miss her.

ELVA V. ('Grandma') HILL, 96, longtime resident of Catalina, more recently of San Manuel, AZ went to be with the Lord February 11, 2000. She was born June 9, 1903 in Barton City, MI. Wife of the late Charles D. Hill of Barton City, MI; and the daughter of Jacob and Ella Swartz, also of Barton City. She is survived by twin daughters, Violet Chase of Harrisville, MI, and Viola Contreras of San Manuel, AZ; one sister, Lottie Ross of Harrisville, MI; and two step-daughters also in Michigan. She is also survived by several grandchildren; great- and great-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was a beloved mother and grandmother, and a truly dear friend to all who knew her. 'Love is patient, love is kind. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.' Memorial services will be held Saturday February 19 at 4:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Catalina on Wilds Road.
JIM DANIEL HIMELIC - passed away Saturday, February 12, 2000 after a courageous4-year battle with Lou Gehrig's disease. Jim was 52 years old. He was born on March 19, 1947 in Salina, Kansas and grew up in Bellevue, Nebraska. He attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln on a wrestling scholarship graduating in December of 1970. He was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He graduated from the University of Arizona Law School in May of 1973. In October he began his employment at Pima County Attorney's Office. In 1975 he married
Diana Pesqueira. He left the prosecutors' office and entered private practice in 1982. Jim was appointed as a Court Commissioner in July of 1995. In January 1997, he was assigned as a judge to the Pima County Juvenile Court where he remained until his retirement last month. For 10 years Jim volunteered as a coach/manager with the Canyon del Oro Little League.
Jim is survived by his loving family: wife, Diana; children, Daniel, Ana, Michael, Jennifer, James and Jamie; parents, George and Thelma of Bellevue, Nebraska; brother, George (Judy) of Omaha, Nebraska; nephews and nieces, Mark, Kortney (Clint), Eric (Cindy), Kari, Mary, and Matthew; one grand-niece, Vanessa; and one grand-nephew, Matthew.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 16 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at St. Odilia's Catholic Church, 7570 N. Paseodel Norte. Prayer service commencing at 7:00 p.m. Services will be held Thursday, February 17, 10:00 a.m., at Community Church of the Foothills, 480 E. Ina Rd. JOHNSON, Carl Ernest, passed away February 12, 2000. He was born in Skandia, Michigan on March 21, 1918, son of Anna and Ernest Johnson. He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Gladys; daughter, Carol (Jim) Rockwell of Tucson; sons, Wayne of Tucson; Dennis (Barbara) of Phoenix; Robert (Barbara) of St. Augustine, Florida; a sister, Linnea Hedmark of Homassassa, Florida; a brother, Gilbert Johnson of Skandia, Michigan; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Carl grew up in Skandia, Michigan and as a young lad joined the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) where he worked for two years. He then became an apprentice at Lake Shore Engineering Co. as a grey iron maulder. Because this was 'essential war work' he was deferred from active military service. He married
Gladys Heidtman on July 15, 1940. They made their home in Marquette, Michigan. They cared for five Court Wards over a period of time. In September of 1952, they moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico for Wayne's health. Carl worked as a Painter and Decorator for Northern State Teachers College in Marquette, later forming his own business, C & G Painting Company, Inc. in partnership with his wife. Because of damaged lungs, he retired in 1980 and worked with 'Laborers For Christ' building churches in Colorado Springs, Cedar Crest, New Mexico and Los Lunas, New Mexico. As Carl's health was failing and he needed to move to a lower altitude, they moved to Tucson, Arizona, settling down at Far Horizon Trailer Village. He worked with the Cub Scouts in Albuquerque and served on the Board of Trustees at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Albuquerque and at Fountain of Life Lutheran Church in Tucson. He also worked for several years at the Wellness Clinic in Tucson. He was a member of NACCCA, The National Chapter of Civilian Conservation Corps. KANE, Rev. John, C.Ss.R., Founder of the Redemptorist Desert House of Prayer, Cortaro, Arizona. LUCCHESI, AL and SUE. Al was a retired US Navy Chief Petty Officer, husband and loving father. Sue was a loving mother and wife. Both were hard working and honest people who loved their children and grandchildren very much. Together they raised three children, Anthony, Victor and Frank. In addition, they are survived by their grandchildren Brianne and Nicholas.

MAGNUSON, Dorothy Lucille, passed away on January 10, 2000. She was born in Faribault, Minnesota. Dorothy moved to Yuma, Arizona after she and her husband, Clarence retired. Both moved to Tucson to live with their daughter and grandchildren after their health began to fail. She leaves three daughters, Shelby Hawkins of Tucson, Candace Magnuson of Minneapolis and Dr. Cheryl Magnuson of Satellite Beach, Florida. MUSICANT, Evelyn, 80 of Tucson, died Sunday, February 13, 2000. Beloved mother of Judith and Robert and mother-in-law of Hugh A. Clark, Jr. and Aurora Campanella. Adored wife of 59 years to the late Louis Musicant. Mrs. Musicant moved to Tucson in 1992, where she quickly became active in Women's American ORT and a number of other community activities. At the age of 75 she started learning the art of pottery making and became a fixture at the Morris Udall Community Center pottery studios. SITGREAVES, Sybil Ellen, 87, passed away on February 12, 2000. preceded in death by her second husband, Carl. Survived by son; nieces and nephews; and friend and companion, Diana Cavallucci. Dean Oden Staley, 73, died at home of colon cancer February 13, 2000. A Tucson resident for 41 years, he had been a Professor of Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Arizona for 33 years.
He was born October 18, 1926 to Oden T. and George F. Staley in Kennewick, WA, and graduated from Kennewick High School in 1944.
In the Army Air Corps just after World War II, he was stationed in the Philippines and flew many missions observing typhoons. This sparked an interest in meteorology and upon returning home, he enrolled at the University of Washington in Seattle. He received his Bachelor's degree in 1950 from Washington, a Master's degree at UCLA, and his Ph at Washington in Meteorology.
He taught 4 years as an Assistant professor at the University of Wisconsin, Madison where he met his future wife, Ethel Storlie. In 1959, he began teaching and research at the University of Arizona and remained until his retirement in 1992.
He was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, American Checker Foundation, East Benton County, WA Historical Society and the Southern Arizona Hiking Club.
In the 1960s he was active in competitive checkers, winning the AZ State Championship in 1962, 64 and 66. In 1967 he won the Washington State Championship.
During the 1970s and 80s, he led many interesting hikes for the Southern Arizona Hiking Club and climbed most of the major peaks in southern Arizona.
Genealogy was of special interest and he traced his family tree back several generations to colonial Virginia.
Skilled at woodworking, he built several furniture pieces for family and friends.
In retirement, he enjoyed hiking, woodworking and visiting friends in Washington and the Netherlands.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Ethel; daughters, Jane and Susan of Tucson; Frances Wade of Auburn, WA; sons Web of Tucson and Martin of White Rock, NM; brother, Kenneth of Schnectady, NY.
There will be no local services. Visitation and burial will be in Kennewick, WA.
