FREDERICK HARRY BOYER
1928 – 2000
Fred Boyer passed peacefully on February 22, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Mary Boyer; and four children, Charles Boyer of Augusta, GA; Christine Boyer Guerrero of Grosse Ile, MI; Craig Boyer of Dallas, TX; and Cherie Boyer of Las Vegas, NV; and three grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Byron Boyer of Sun Lakes, AZ. Fred was born and raisedin Mt. Clemens, MI and graduated from Eastern Michigan University in 1951. He began his teaching career at Roseville High School. Fred received a Masters Degree in Education and Masters Degree in Science from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. He taught chemistry at Highland Park Community College from 1963 to 1975, where he served as Faculty Senate Chairman. In 1976, he accepted a teaching position at Wayne County Community College where he also served as Science Department Chairman. Fred thoroughly enjoyed teaching until he retired in 1986. In 1989, Fred and his wife Mary began traveling and settled in Tucson in 1991. During his retirement, he enjoyed bowling, golf, and gem cutting. He also served as president, vice-president, and secretary of his neighborhood association of Woodland Hills. Per Fred's request, no services will be held. CHILDRESS, Jane Elizabeth, 77, died February 16, 2000. Mother of Gary L.(Ameri V.) Childress; grandmother of Jack R., Will C., Aislyn M. Sianeco, Anna C., Alexandra L., and Angela G.; sister of Dorothy Davis, Rosemary Greene and Oliver Russell Howell; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. DEAN DaVee, 75, of Tucson, passed away on February 22, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Audrey; one daughter, Sharon (Craig) Bentzen; one son, Mark (Carol) DaVee; three stepchildren, Jack Bamford, Kevin Bamford and Karen (Dino) Trevino; nine grandchildren, Blake, Elliot, Ian, Dean, K.J., Kyle, Amber, Megan and Nicole. FISHER, Stuart, 46, died February 22, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Roxann; father, William Fisher; mother, Virginia Jennings; brothers, Perry and Tyson; sisters, Linda, Paula, and Cyndee; his in-laws, Roy and Ann Souther and Family. Stuart brought joy to our lives nad left many happy memories. He was a faithful servant of Jehovah God. HAINES, Harriet Kallen, November 9, 1927, died February 17, 2000, Albuquerque, NM. She touched the lives of all who knew and loved her with compassion, creativity, humor, and the spirits of adventure. Survivors include wonderful friends and family: son, David Haines; daughters, Valerie Hollander (Rick), Anne Yatskowitz (Jerry) and new baby granddaughter, Eliana Rose. A celebration of her life will be held at Campana del Rio Chapel, 1550 E. River Rd., Sunday, February 27 at 1:00 p.m.

DR. CLAUDE McKEE peacefully passed away the morning of February 20, 2000. He is survived by his sister, Mrs. Ginger Henderson of Melbourne Beach, FL; and daughters, Carole McKee Weissberger of Santa Clara, CA, Christine DeBolt of Ft. Meyers, FL, Claire Gordon of Honolulu, HI, and Claudia Naughton of Tucson, AZ. Claude was loved by his five grandchildren, Tina Naughton-Powers, Frank W. Naughton, Michael Weissberger, Katie DeBolt, Daniel Gordon; and great-granddaughter, Megan Naughton; plus numerous nieces and nephews. Claude joins his wife, Dolly of 51 years, in eternal life. She passed away in 1994. Doc, as he was affectionately referred to, was born in Pittsburg, PA., in 1914. He received his Doctorate Degree in Medicine from the University of Pittsburgh. He captained the Pitt Golf Team and helped win the Tri-State championship. Dr. McKee served in the Medical Corps from 1941-1945 where he was awarded the Bronze Star while serving in a battle area near Cairo, Egypt. Lt. Col. Dr. McKee went into private practice with his brother after the war. Dr. McKee was a compassionate ear, nose, and throat physician, practicing in Pittsburgh for over 40 years. Claude loved golf and music and could be found in the spotlight of every party playing his favorite piano tunes. He also lit up a room with his ukulele serenades. The family thanks all of his doctors and nurses who cared for him in Tucson, AZ since 1982. The family wishes that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the charity of your choice. Darwin W. Neubauer was born in Highland, IL, and passed away February 22, 2000 in Tucson. He will long be remembered by his wife, Jinna; son, Bill (Jean) Neubauer; daughters, Susi (Jones) Osborn and Jan Neubauer. Memories will be held by grandchildren, Billy (Heather) and Jonathan Neubauer, Adrienne and Barclay Osborn and Alan and Abby Brooks plus many friends.
Darwin and Jinna recently celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary.
Dr. Neubauer graduated from Washington University of St. Louis and was Valedictorian from the Washington University Medical School. He had his Surgical Training at the Barnes Hospital in St. Louis. He participated in WWII as a flight surgeon in the European theater and in North Africa.
He moved the family to Tucson in 1948. For over 30 years he was a surgeon par excellence. He was a primary builder of Tucson Medical Center into an acute care center. He specialized in the management of cancer and introduced many new techniques into the medical community, such as arterial fusion directly into tumors with a continuous pump. He was known not only for his surgical technique and judgement, but for kindness, compassion and integrity. He held many positions including Chief of Staff at TMC, President of the Pima County Medical Society, and editor of Arizona Medicine.
He was active with the American Cancer Society serving as its President in Tucson. He was Chairman of the medical aspects of civil defense for Tucson in the 1950's. He received Community Service Award from the Arizona Medical Association (one given annually.)
After his retirement, he enjoyed wood carving and golf. He loved time with his family and friends, both in Tucson and Pinetop.
He will be missed by many. We celebrate the time we had with him. We love you Dad.
Services will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2000 at 1:30 p.m. in St. Mark's Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to TMC Hospice or the Boys and Girls Clubs of Tucson. Arrangements by EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY.
NEWMAN, Richard M., 71, entered eternal life on February 20, 2000. Born on November 29, 1928 in Natrona, PA, he worked as a pressman for David C. Cook Publishing Company in Elgin, IL. Richard served in the U.S. Army in Occupational Forces and was a member of the VFW. He is survived by sons, John Newman and Russell Newman. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 25, 2000 at 1:00 p.m. in East Lawn Palms Mortuary, 5801 E. Grant Road. A visitation took place on Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY. Committal will take place in East Lawn Palms cemetery following services.
WEINHOLD, Leroy 'Ted', age 70, of Tucson, AZ, died February 22, 2000. Born to Margaret and Roy Weinhold, he was raised in Joliet, IL. He is survived by his wife, Charlene of Tucson; his children, Jan (Robert) Worek of Channahon, IL, Diane (Patrick) Lambert of Marseilles, IL, Linda (John) Clearwater of Mazon, IL, Michelle Hull of Mesa, AZ, Denise (Bruce) Hargan of Castle Rock, CO, Jace (Michelle) Weinhold of Rosemount, MN, Tracy Weinhold and Laura Young of Tucson, Glenn Rusteberg of Waterloo, IL, and Randy (Ginny) Rusteberg of Fults, IL; 32 grandchildren; and five great grandchildren; and his brothers, Don (Lonnie), Gerald, Roger (Joanne) Weinhold of Joliet; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and infant sister, Marilyn. Ted Weinhold, owner and operator of Terra Vista Estates, a manufactured housing community in Tucson, was recently inducted into the Manufactured Housing Hall of Fame in August of 1999 for his diligent contributions to the betterment of the industry. He represented Arizona industry interests from 1978-1991 as board member, board officer or board Chairman of the National Manufactured Housing Federation. He was recognized for his commitment and dedication to fostering growth and understanding within MHI, MHIA, and GAMHA. He was appointed by the Governor to the Board of Manufacturing Housing. Ted served as Chairman of the Flowing Wells Irrigation District for 17 years. He received the Ruth C. Kaseman Award from MHOA, which is distinguished by innovation, ingenuity, and pioneering spirit within the industry. A member of the N. Tucson Lion's Club for over 27 years, he received the District Service Award, '81 Lion of the Year Award, President Appreciation Award '98-'99, and served as President for 2 1/2 terms. Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 601 E. Ft. Lowell, Monday, February 28, 2000 at 9:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the N. Hady Gustafson, 82, passed away February 23, 2000. She was born in Springfield, IL on October 17, 1917. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Brady of Tucson and Mary Ann McCall of Jacksonville, FL; six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, six nieces, two nephews and her beloved dog, Tammy. She was a faithful woman of God and had many friends. She will be missed by all.

MORENO, Dolores O., a native Tucsonian, passed away on February 23, 2000 in Tucson. She had worked for many years as an anesthetist for St. Mary's and the VA Hospitals in Tucson. Her hobbies included playing the piano and art painting. preceded in death by parents, Vicente and Julia Moreno; and brother Vince. Survived by brothers, Alfred and David; and sisters, Naomi M. Pena; and Rev. Lydia Moreno; sister-in-law, Manuela S. Moreno; two nephews, Robert and Fabian Pena; nieces, Naomi (Mimi) Valencia, Patricia and Ana Moreno; grandnephews and grandnieces, Pricsilla, Nicolas, Jessica, Alma Valencia and Erick Baez. RUDLAND, Lorna M., of Tucson, AZ, died Thursday, February 24, 2000 in Tucson. Surviving are: daughter, Susan Schwarzenegger; granddaughter, Kelly Capece; brothers, Leonard Waller and Paul Waller. Burial will be Marvin Chapel, Desloge, Missouri. Tucson Memorial Service unknown at this time.
FRANCIS WALTER SHERWOOD was born to Minnie and Granville Sherwood on June 2, 1911. He passed away February 24, 2000. He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Jennie; sisters, Helen Dudgeon (Elmer), Viola Hutt (Chuck), Erma Welton (Bill); and brothers, Joe (Kate) and Cecil (Irene).
Frank was a railroad switchman for most of his working years. Before coming to Tucson in 1940, he worked at various towns in Colorado such as Leadville, Salida, and Grand Junction. Frank retired in 1975.
Mr. Sherwood is survived by his sons, Gary and Richard (Lois) of Tucson; grand- children, Steve (Cathy), Wayne (Gillian), Keith, Brian, Christopher (Kim), Kristin, Brent, Brandon; great-grandchildren, Timothy, Travis, Curtis, Cory, Valorie, Angie; great-great-grandson, Tristan; Carolyn Sherwood, Vicky Sherwood and loving relatives and friends.
His family wants Frank to be remembered as a quiet, good, hardworking man who conducted himself as a gentleman at all times and was an exemplary husband and father. We will always remember his radiant smile and beautiful, sparkling blue eyes. We are joyful that he is at peace with the Lord.
Visitation will be held at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway, Monday, February 28, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., with Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, February 29 at Our Mother of Sorrows Church, 1800 S. Kolb Rd. Entombment will follow at Our Lady of the Desert cemetery.
