Victor J. Tronolone died February 25, 2000. Born in Village of San Fele, Province of Potenza, Italy, December 20, 1900. Victor came to the United States with his mother and two brothers and one sister to rejoin his father and one brother and one sister. In later years one sister and two brothers rounded out this family. In Victor's early years spent in Hoboken, New Jersey, he shined shoes to help out with the family. As a youngster he was a pugilist, fighting under the name of 'Young Victor'. The early years after grammer school, he taught himself to be a bookkeeper. He worked for a number of meatpacking firms in New York City, among them was Wilson and Company. He met and married
Hazel Ackerman and had two sons, Victor and Robert. After the days with Wilson and Company he became partners with a childhood chum, Rocco Gratale, in a trucking company in Hoboken, New Jersey. During that time he became the owner of a professional basketball team, The Jersey Reds. This was when professional basketball was in in its infancy. In later years in Tucson, whenever speaking about the old days, he used to delight in telling that he paid his star player the sum of $35.00 per game. Because his wife, Hazel, had contracted Asthma, doctors recommended a dry climate so the family moved to Albuquerque, NM. He was unable to find a position in Albuquerque so they moved back East and settled in a small town North of New York City, Highland, New York. He bought a cold storage plant in Highland. He did very well with this plant and became very popular with the people in the area. They wanted him to run for mayor. The cold climate did not agree with his wife so the family moved West again, this time to Tucson, Arizona. The year was 1943. He was able to find a position as an accountant and was successful at it and then went on to establish his own firm where he 'did the books' for a number of restaurants, motels and other businesses over the years. He has made many friends in the Ol Pueblo. He is survived by two sons, seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 1st, 2000, at Bring's Broadway Chapel. Interment will be private. Friends may call from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 29, 2000 at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway
