McCORMICK, Mary Catherine, born January 10, 1939, in Providence, RI., died March 14, 2000, in Tucson, AZ. Predeceased by parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. She leaves her brother, John J. McCormick (Colleen); nieces, Katherine McCormick, Jean McCormick, Mary Reskin (Glenn), Shawn Logan (Tom); grandniece, C.J. Reskin; grandnephews, Jeremy and Jonah Logan; two dear friends, Grace Henke and Arlene Bowman; and beloved pets. As well as many friends in the bowling and church community. She was a member of Tucson WBA and WIBC 18 years. A director 9 years, Sgt-at-Arms 3 years, V.P. for AWBW and a member of Tucson Bowlerettes. She was very active in the bowling community and served on many committees. She was also involved in groups within the St. Pius X Church. Ernestine Mickola - She came to us on March 31, 1906 in Ardmore, Oklahoma as the infant daughter of Isreal Earnest and Fannie Adkins. She moved to Tucson in the late 20's where she met and married
longtime resident, Harold 'Mike' Mickola. She was a loving wife and mother with a ready smile for all. Many of her friends will remember her as 'Teen' because of her childlike stature and manners. Husband, Harold, and her brothers, William, Joseph, Robert and Bernard all predeceased her. She left this world on March 14, 2000. Survivors are her only child, Richard and his wife, Elly Mickola. DAISIE S. EDWARDS died March 13, 2000 of congestive heart failure. Before moving with her family to Tucson in 1953, Daisie lived most of her life in Bel Air, MD where she was active in her church and with family activities. She was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Charles B. Edwards, who died in 1961. She is survived by three children, Louella S. Burke of Reno, NV; Charles M. Edwards and Julia E. Burns, both of Tucson. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Daisie was an active volunteer throughout her life. In Tucson she worked over 2500 hours in the Tucson Medical Center Auxiliary, was a Parish Visitor as both a volunteer and then professionally for First United Methodist Church, where she also was active in the UMW, as a Circle Leader, as president of the Carillon Sunday School class, as the church's representative to the Tucson Council of Churches, and in many other activities over the years. She was a house mother for over 10 years at the Arizona School for the Deaf and Blind, and was an active member and officer of the local chapter of the TTT Sorority.
There will be a Memorial Service at First United Methodist Church, 915 E. 4th Street, Tucson, AZ on Monday, March 20, 2000 at 1:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Mt. Shirley L. Frana, 70, died March 15, 2000 from complications of a stroke. She was born in Detroit, MI, grew up in Chicago, IL and a Tucson resident since 1949. Survived by children, Valerie (Sam R.) HONSA, Edward L., 92 years old, died March 15, 2000. He is survived by Helen, his wife of 62 years; daughter, Dorothy Doll; five grandchildren, Michael, Andy, David, Rick, and Laura; 15 great-grandchildren; brother Theodore; and sister Emily. Ed retired in 1973 from Western Electric. He enjoyed the shade of the trees he planted and shrubs and flowers. He was an avid reader and a talented oil painter. JUAREZ, Nancy A., 58, passed away March 15, 2000 after a courageous battle with cancer. Nancy was born on September 23, 1941, in La Junta, Colorado. She is survived by her husband of 36 years, P. Gilbert Juarez; daughter, Trisha Juarez; son, Gilbert (Stephanie) Juarez; grandchildren, Lexys and Austin (both her 'Pride & Joy'); mother, Mary Vigil. She was the eldest of nine siblings; Robert (Judy) Vigil, Ben Vigil of San Diego, Donnie Vigil, Marilyn (Fernando) Sanchez, Billy (Irene) Vigil, Jimmy (Maria) Vigil, Pauline (Joe) Gil, and Patty (Larry) Ahrendt, all of Tucson. She is also survived by a large extended family including 11 nieces and nephews; many aunts and uncles; and more friends than can be counted. Nancy worked for 37 years at Tucson Electric Power Company. As part of the company's community service programs, she was involved in the National Hispanic Scholarship Fund Golf Tournament Committee; and a Staunch UofA fan. She was the head of the Wildcat Booster Club, and coordinated trips for out-of-town UA football games. She is remembered as someone always tending to the needs of everyone else, who genuinely cared about others and enjoyed life to the fullest. Margaret Jayne Todd, 62, of Tucson, died March 9, 2000. Wife of Paul E.; mother of Maureen K. Serafin, Thomas B. (Maureen) Todd, Martha A. (Patrick) West, Melinda G. Todd, Michele M. Jayne, our most loving, caring, courageous and unselfish wife, mother, grandmother and best friend has joined her parents in peace and eternal life in heaven.
Her love lives on in her husband, Paul; her children; and her grandchildren.
Jayne is a 1956 graduate of Amphitheater High School and a 1960 graduate of St. Mary's School of Nursing. She worked 35 years as a registered nurse at St. Mary's Hospital, where she was honored for her dedicated service.
She fulfilled the selfless, caring ideals of nursing throughout her life.
We thank God for the time we were able to share with her in love, compassion and life's lessons. She will be greatly missed by all whose lives she has touched.

GONTARZ, Stanley, 82, of Tucson, AZ, died March 18, 2000. Stanley served in the Army during WWII, earning a Purple Heart. He was an officer with the New York City Police Department, retiring after 25 years. He was instrumental in establishing the Police Academy in Rhode Island, where he retired as Chief of Police in Barrington, R.I., before moving to Tucson. During his police career, Stanley was involved with juvenile drug prevention programs, and helped institute one of the first computer based record systems in police work. In conjunction with his police career, he earned a Doctorate Degree in Public Administration from Nova University, Florida. But his most important accomplishment was being a husband and father. He was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes; and is survived by his children, Greer (Matthew) McKenna, Christopher (Carol), and Mary Margaret (David) Iadevaia.
