MAHURIN, Elmo, 83, of Tucson, passed away March 19, 2000. Survived by daughters, Carole Roberts and Sharon Hensley; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Roselle and Imogene. BURROWS, Robert Charles, 65, died Friday, March 17, 2000, in his home.
He was born July 12, 1934 in Galena, Ill. A retired operations superintendent in the mining industry, he was a six-year resident of Las Vegas.
He is survived by his wife, Emy of Las Vegas; daughters, Janice Cassidy (Dale), Susan Porter (John) and Bonnie Boelman (Doug), all of Tucson, and Joyce Chonis (Jeff) of Los Angeles; mother, Una of Tucson; brothers, David of St. Louis and Daniel of Tucson; and grandchildren, Bonnie, Casey, Savanna, Amy and Anna. He was preceded in death by his father, Harvey 'Spin' and brother, Richard 'Dick'.
A Memorial Service will be held in Tucson at St. Mark's Presbyterian Church, 3809 E. 3rd on Saturday, April 1st at 4:00 p.m. He will be laid to rest in his hometown of Galena, Ill.

EUGENE C. 'GENE' COOLEY - Long time resident of Tucson, passed away March 16, 2000. He was born April 22, 1922 in West Union, Iowa to Clifton and Esther Cooley. He graduated from Clermont, Iowa High School and married
Gladys 'Chris' Shegrud on September 5, 1942. He entered the Army shortly thereafter, where he rose to the rank of Sergeant with the 7th Army, 12th Armored Division, 714th Tank Battalion. Gene served with honor, being awarded the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster for wounds he received in action in France and Germany. Son Gerald Eugene was born February 14, 1950 and they moved from La Crosse, Wisconsin to Colorado Springs in 1953. They then moved to Albuquerque in 1962 where they lived until 1980, when Gene and Chris moved to Tucson. They co-managed the Tucson Meadows Mobile Home Park until they retired in 1998. Gene was preceded in death by his wife in 1999; brother, Stanley; sister, Norma and his parents. He is survived by his brother, Billy of Tucson; aunts, Ruth Lyngass and Susanna Larson; his son, Gerald and wife, Gail; and three grandchildren, Erika Jane, Kristy Gail, and Nathan Gerald. Gene was a member of the American Legion, DAV, VFW and the Elks. An honest, hard working man who never asked of others what he wouldn't do himself, he always had a smile, a kind word and a helping hand for anyone who needed it. He lived the life the Lord, whom he loved, asks of all of us. Gene dearly loved and celebrated the accomplishments of his three grandchildren, who adored him in return. Gene was a wonderful and loving friend, husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. May God rest his wonderful yet weary soul. HARDING, Charles B., 83, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away March 19, 2000. KERR, Donald R., 87, died in his Tucson home on Thursday, March 16, 2000. Burial will be in Dixon, Illinois. After graduating from the University of Chicago Law School, he married
Margaretha Moore, his wife of 55 years. He practiced law in Chicago until enlisting in the United States Navy for service during World War II, achieving the rank of Lieutenant. After the War he moved to Wickenburg, AZ, where he owned and operated the Slash Bar K Ranch and subsequently taught and was principal in the Wickenburg Public Schools while earning his M.A. degree from Arizona State University. While in Wickenburg he was an organizing member of the Desert Caballeros ride, the Wickenburg Country Club, St. Alban's Episcopal Parish and the Wickenburg Community Hospital. He has also been a member of the Alpha Delta Phi fraternity, the Masonic Blue Lodge, Tucson Scottish Rite, El Zaribah Shrine of Phoenix, the BPOE Elks Lodge and Rotary International. During retirement in Tucson, he volunteered with 'Call For Action', Tucson Opera Company and the Tucson Police Department. He is survived by his wife, Jane Kerr of Tucson; daughter, Karen Ashurst of Tucson; son, Donald Kerr, Jr. of Tallahassee, FL; grandchildren, Michael Lawrence of Irvine, CA; Lisa Lawrence of San Diego, CA; and Linda Proctor of Concord, NH; and great grandchildren, Ethan and Samuel Proctor of Concord, NH.
