ENGEL, Dorothy J., 81, died peacefully on March 21, 2000. Born in Queens, NY, she graduated from Richmond Hill High School in 1935. After several years as a secretary, she began a long career as a mother and homemaker. She lived in Safety Harbor, Florida for 22 years before moving to Tucson in August of 1999. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, David. She is survived by three sons, Kenneth of Tucson, Thomas of Calverton, NY and Douglas of New Boston, NH; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Tanque Verde Lutheran Church at 8625 E. Tanque Verde Rd. on Friday, March 24th at 2:00 p.m. by the Reverend Frank Nausin. LUCY M. ESPINOSA - Went to be with Jesus on Monday, March 20, 2000 at her home in Tucson, Arizona. Lucy was born January 24, 1923 in Bisbee, Arizona. She was one of eight children born to Alfred and Angela Mesa. Lucy attended Bisbee schools and worked in Bisbee and Douglas before quitting to become a full time mother. Lucy was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend. She was a devoted Catholic who remained faithful to her belief and loved her church, Immaculate Conception, in Douglas, Arizona. Lucy had a hard struggle the last two years of her life and the family would like to thank all who visited and aided her. A special thanks to Jeanette, Richard, and Troy Colberg at Oakridge at Midvale for giving Lucy loving care in her final two years. Lucy will be greatly missed by all who loved her. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Tommy F. Espinosa and son, Tom A. Espinosa; her sister, Lupe and brothers, Candy and Alfred. Lucy's surviving relatives are her daughter, Olga A. (Truman) Woodall and granddaughter, Elise Woodall; her brothers Art, Dan, Frank and Gene Mesa. A Rosary is to be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 24, 2000 at Brown Page Mortuary Chapel. MARY JUNE MORGAN - Born to Josephine and John Weide June 1, 1936 in Yates Center, Kansas passed quickly into the Lord's hands March 20, 2000 from massive heart failure. preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Johnny. She is survived by brother, Herbert Weide (Kansas); and sisters, Elizabeth Turner (Arkansas), Ruth Ann Rector (Connecticut), Ida Mae Hodges (Oklahoma) and Beverly Corbin (Kansas). She is also survived by her husband of 46 years, Johnny P. Morgan; children, Dennis Morgan of Apache Junction, AZ, Christina (John) Swearingen of Tucson, AZ, Kendall (Gina) Morgan of Tucson, AZ, and Jill (Jerry) Wade, Glenwood Springs, CO. Mary had 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, with one more on the way, of which she was very proud. The last five years Mary had been a Greeter at WalMart on Valencia. She always had a smiling face and seeing and meeting the people that passed through the doors made her happy. She will be greatly missed by many but none more than her husband and children. CARMEN M. PALACIOS, 71, of Tucson, AZ, passed away March 19, 2000. She is survived by her beloved husband, Antonio R. Palacios; children, Sylvia (George) Canez, Antonio (Marion) Palacios, Francisco (fiancee, Judy) Palacios, Carmen (Brad) Martin; grandchildren, Veronica, Robert (Laura), Joseph, Michael, Jennifer, Eduardo, Cindy (Joe), Tony (Boo); great-grandchildren, Christina, Robert Elliott, Zachary and Tyler. She will be greatly missed by her family and beloved Chihuahuas, Gordy and Pesque. SCHAEFER, Minnie Mae, born July 16, 1906, died March 20, 2000 in Tucson. She lived in and around San Angelo, Texas till 1993 when she moved to Tucson.
Survivors include her daughter, Wanda (Harry) Larson; grandchildren, Robert (Patty) Larson and Julie Larson; three great-granddaughters, Tonya, Amber and Sandra Larson, all of Tucson; two sisters and several nieces and nephews in Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, in 1989.
She was a member of the Mountain Avenue Church of Christ here in Tucson, where a memorial service will be held Monday, March 23 at 7:00 p.m. at 2848 N. Mountain Ave., with Mike Nowak officiating. Interment will be in San Angelo, Texas, March 27.
SCOTT, Cory Jay, 40, of Bothell, WA, died February 25, 2000 in Seattle, WA. Cory was the son of the late Clifton Dean Scott and Shirley Jean Scott of Scottsdale, AZ. He was born March 23, 1959 in Phoenix, AZ and graduated from Brophy Prep School in 1977. In Tucson, Cory graduated from the University of Arizona in 1981 where he was a charter/refounding member of Epsilon Beta Chapter of Alpha Tau Omega. In addition, he was the President of the Epsilon Beta-ATO Housing Corporation and a member of it's Board of Directors for many years. Since 1992 Cory was a Seattle resident where he was a sales associate with Coastwide Laboratories. Survivors include: long time friend, Cynthia M.; his mother, Shirley Jean Scott, her companion, Howard J.; a sister, Julie Scott Boomer; a brother, Randall Dean Scott; three nieces, two nephews and his many friends and brothers in ATO. MARY ELIZABETH STROEHLEIN - Born March 18, 1925 in Hoquiam, Washington, left us on March 20, 2000 at the age of 75. Mary was born to one of the pioneer families of the Olympic Peninsula. The daughter of Grace M. Delaney and Francis S. Delaney, she spent her school years in Washington graduating from Hoquiam High School and attended Central Washington College of Education in Ellensburg, Washington. There she met her husband, Raymond E. Stroehlein who was also on that campus attending Flight School for the United States Air Force. When WWII was over, Mary and Ray married
. In 1957, Mary and Ray took their family to Tucson, Arizona. Since that time Mary attended to the needs of her family, friends, and her many animals. When her children were older, she became a teacher aide in the Sunnyside School District. She then continued as a school secretary in that district working at Valencia, Liberty, and Mission Manor elementary schools. She retired from the Sunnyside School District in 1987. Mary is survived by her loving husband and caregiver, Raymond E. Stroehlein, and her children, Linda S. Head, Sandra L. Madsen, Pamela A. Stroehlein, Debra S. Wilson, Richard C. (Maria) Stroehlein, and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Grace and Frank Delaney; her brother, Bob Delaney; and her son, Charles F. Lewis.

BARREDA, Robert, 61, a native of Arizona and a resident of New Mexico for the last 14 years was called home by his Lord on March 21st, 2000. Mr. Barreda was a Tucson Police Officer and a boxer (winner of the Golden Gloves). He is survived by his wife, Jane; his daughter, Juli-Anne; his daughter, Sharon Moore, her husband, Gary Moore; his grandchildren, Morgan and Toby Moore. Mr. Barreda is also survived by his children from a previous marriage, Raima, Rodrick, Roxanne, Rene and Ryan. Cremation has taken place. LUCILE BUDD JULIANI - Died March 21, 2000, having completed her allotted time on earth of one hundred and one years, three months and seven days.
The daughter of Oswald Adam Budd of Charleston, South Carolina, and Ida Fries of Jacksonville, Florida, she spent her early childhood in Santa Fe, New Mexico Territory. She moved with her family to Prescott, Arizona territory in 1907.
In 1921 she married
disabled WWI veteran Harry Orestes Juliani, moving to Tucson in 1923 where her husband enrolled in the University of Arizona Law School.
preceded in death by her husband, Harry O. Juliani; daughters, Sibyl Juliani Ellinwood and Nancy Juliani Silverman; sisters, Evelyn Merritt of Prescott, May Morrison Heap of Tucson, and Leslie Russell of Ventura, California.
Survived by son, Gerald Budd Juliani (Carol); grandchildren, Ralph Everett Ellinwood (Karen) and John Cole Ellinwood of Tucson, Julia Silverman Schecter (Greg) of Seattle, Jesse Silverman, Stephen Silverman, Thomas Adams Budd Juliani of Tucson, Gerald Budd Juliani II (Priscilla) of Houston and Quito; sixteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
A true child of the last frontiers in the southwest, she reflected the inate toughness that environment engendered. She devoted her life to her family, had a great love of music and enjoyed life to its fullest.
Lucille is sorely missed by family and her wide circle of friends, who if they wish may make a donation in her memory to the Juliani Fund of the Tucson Symphony Orchestra or to the Music Program of Saint Phillips in the Hills Episcopal Church, where she was a founding member.
A Memorial Service will be held at St. Phillips, River Road and Campbell, at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, 28 March 2000.
KELLY, Fredric N., determined not to miss Heaven's version of the St. Patrick's Day Parade, left March 15, 2000, to join his wife, Dorothy; son Barry; and brothers, Jim and Gene Kelly, after a courageous battle with cancer.
