NORVELLE, Martha G., 80, formerly of Tucson and Payson, Arizona, joined her husband, Clyde L. Norvelle and her son, Clyde L. Norvell Jr. in Paradise on March 9, 2000. Mrs. Norvelle was born in Independence, Missouri on March 14, 1919 and moved to Tucson June 12, 1935. After raising a family she worked at The University of Arizona in the Office of the Registrar from 1963 to 1967. She and Clyde then fulfilled a lifelong dream and moved to the mountains, Payson, Arizona, in 1981. She will be remembered as a faithful wife and mother, and a loyal member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Tucson and then of Mt. Cross Lutheran Church in Payson. Mrs. Norvelle is survived by her sister, Ruth Louise Hawk of Independence, Missouri; three children, 15 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Martha will be dearly missed by all those whose lives she touched during her time here on earth. She had a generous and loving heart, and found fulfillment in her children and their children. She also enjoyed her music, art, and doll collection. A simple graveside ceremony was held on March 12, 2000 at South Lawn cemetery in Tucson according to her wishes. The family requests that any gifts in lieu of flowers, be made payable to Mt. Cross Lutheran Church.

SEE, Joseph Melville, Jr. 'Mel', a cultural anthropologist and expert on pre-Columbian and African art, passed over on March 19, 2000. A resident of Tucson since the early 1960's. Early in his career, Mel was a professional geologist, working in Africa, South America, southwestern United States and Mexico.
Mel was born in Albany, New York on April 19, 1938 to Joseph Melville See and Matilda Pilger See. Grew up in Scarsdale, NY. Graduated from Princeton University in 1960 and received a Master of Science degree from the University of Arizona in 1965.
Mel was a respected ethnographer, who photographed, filmed and wrote about indigenous cultures around the world. Some of his films were 'Sahara Fantasia', 'The Huichol' and 'Paths of Life' (Seri sequence) at the Arizona State Museum. He also cataloged and designed the pre-Columbian art collection at the Tucson Museum of Art.
He is survived by his daughter, Heather; his companion and friend, Beverly Wilk; his two adopted families, Norman and Olga Zeller, their children and grandchildren; and Jeffrey and Natalie Javier, their two sons, Jordan and Sergei who were Mel's godchildren, and many friends. He will be missed so much by so many.
A celebration of his life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, March 31, 2000 at BRING'S MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 236 S. Scott.

SKINNER, Concha, 70, died March 27, 2000. preceded in death by husband, Lue Skinner; sister, Josefina Lopez and brother, Vicente Bautista. Survived by son, Rene (Sylvia) Skinner; grandchildren, Lue, Rene and Christina; sisters, Cora (Robert) Silvas, Grace Baba, Artemisa Arvizu and Guadalupe (Seymour) Lefkowitz; brothers, Ernesto (Hortensia) Bautista and Raymundo (Magdalena) Bautista; brother-in-law, Oscar Lopez; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Mrs. Skinner worked as a medical librarian and retired from both Kino and Veterans hospitals. Mass will be offered 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 30, 2000 at St. Augustine's Cathedral, 192 S. Stone Ave. Burial in TMP South Lawn. Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 29th at BRING'S MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 236 S. Scott., with a Rosary recited at 7:30 p.m.

THOMPSON, Janet Adams, passed away March 26, 2000 in Tucson, AZ after a two year battle with cancer. She was born October 6, 1928 in Milltown, N.J. to Clarence Luther Adams and Frances Margaret Allettsee. During her life she lived in New Jersey, Syracuse, NY, Greensboro, NC, and Tucson, AZ. Preceding her in death is her loving husband of 48 years, Robert Lee Thompson. She is survived by her brother, Clarence Ross Adams and his wife, Pearl; son, David Lee and his wife, Karen; daughter, Nancy Lee; her only grandchild, Emily Margaret, and her loving companion, Donald Creevy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice. A Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel at East Lawn Palms Mortuary, March 31st at 1:00 p.m. Care entrusted to HEATHER MORTUARY.

BLAUSER, Sr., Dennis Leroy, 58, of Tucson, AZ, passed away surrounded by his family and friends on March 29, 2000. He is survived by sons, Dennis L. (Wendy) Blauser, Jr., Kelly (DeVonne) Blauser, Jason Spath, and Brian (Becky) Spath; grandchildren, Brandon, Halie, Ashley, and Abbygail; mother, Lucille (James) Holland; siblings, Judy (John) Alubowicz, Barry (Doris) Blauser, James Holland, Jr., and Betsy Holland; and many other loving family members. JERMAN-LAUN, Gretchen G., 65, of Tucson, passed to the summerland quietly and in peace on March 29, 2000. Interment was in Evergreen cemetery. BILLY J. MONTAGUE, 68, of Tucson, AZ and Ohio, died March 26, 2000. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Eva Mae; one daughter, Margaret (Gregg) Roper of California; stepdaughter, Andrea (Tony) Finney of Tucson; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He retired from Hughes Aircraft in 1986 after 32+ years of service in the spot weld dept. The family appreciates the wonderful care provided by Hospice Family Care. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, April 1, 2000, 2:00 p.m. at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave. at Magee. ALICIA PERALTA MONTANO - passed away on March 27, 2000. She is survived by sons, Henry (Frances), Alberto George (Lupita) and Michael (Tammy) Montano; daughters, Maria A. Black, Vikki Castro, Grace Encinas and Nora (Terry) Morris; 25 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; sisters, Armida Peralta, Josefina Gallegos, and Rosita Lopez.
preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alberto; her parents, Jesus and Luz Peralta; and two children, Alberto and Josefina; sisters, Socorro, Esperanza and Elodia; brothers, Oscar, Armando, Rodolfo and Esgardo.
Alicia was a very loved and well respected member of her community since 1946. She always advocated doing service for others. Thru her daily example she instilled the importance of love, respect and family unity.
Visitation will be held on March 31, Friday, 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at Carrillo's Tucson Mortuary, (South Chapel), 204 S. Stone Ave., with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered on Saturday, April 1st, 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 602 W. Ajo Way. Interment following Mass at Holy Hope cemetery.

FRANK PHILLIP PETTA, JR, USNR, RET.
Born January 17, 1918 in Milwaukee, WI
Died March 18, 2000 in Tucson, AZ
Married in September 1941 to June Jensen Petta. In November 1942, at the age of 24, Frank was widowed by the death of his young bride of only one year. Devastated by June's early death, Frank subsequently devoted his life to military service.
Also preceded in death by his father, Frank Phillip Petta, Sr. and his mother, Helen Kirschstein Petta. Survived by his cherished daughters, Lynne Ann Petta and Jennifer Rose Petta, and former wife, Rose Sung Petta, mother of his daughters. Also surviving are sisters, Eleanor Petta Neff (Dr. Paul), Ruth Petta Jannetto (John); brother, Harold Petta (Margaret); nephews, Paul David Neff, Harold Petta, Jr., Paul Douglas Petta, John Jannetto; and niece, Susan Jannetto.
Frank joined the US Navy in 1940, serving on board the USS WYOMING from 1941-1944, and the USS LUMEN 1944-1945, where he served as Chief Electrician's Mate. After WWII, Frank was given an Honorable Discharge from the US Navy. Reenlisting, Frank went on to serve in combat duty in the Korean War from 1951-1954. He also served in Boston, the Great Lakes and Denver.
In 1961, after 20 years of military service, Frank retired from the US Navy with the rank of Chief Petty Officer. He then served in the Naval Reserves until 1971. After retirement, Frank worked at Milwaukee County Hospital as Director of Maintenance, at Youville Hospital in Cambridge, Mass. as Director of Engineering and then as Chief Electrical Engineer at Stanford University Hospital, Palo Alto, CA. He also worked as Director of Plant Services at Valley Hospital in Las Vegas, NV and Tucson General Hospital, Tucson, AZ. Frank finally retired for good in 1998 at the age of 80 from Davis Monthan Air Force Base, where he worked in a civilian capacity in the 355th Civil Engineer Squadron.
His greatest joy was watching his beautiful daughters, Lynne and Jenny, grow to young womanhood. Those who knew him heard endless stories about their ice skating achievements and enjoyed watching tapes of their competitions. Every jump landed, every competition won, was cause for celebration.
This then, was Frank Petta: Love of his wife, pride in his military service to his country, and joy to his daughters.

SKINNER, Francis P., 85 years old, died Wednesday, March 29, 2000 in Tucson. Born on March 17, 1915 in Blakesburg, Iowa. He was a loving husband and father. Survived by his wife, Alice Skinner; three daughters, Karen Black and Judy Garcia, both of Tucson, Jean Cunningham of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; six sons, David, Michael, Joseph, Rickey, Gary and Rodger Skinner, all of Tucson; sister, Helen Wagner of Ottumwa, Iowa; 33 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren. The joys of his life were his children, country music and his many, many friends. preceded in death by his mother and father, Maude and Frank Skinner; brother, Lawrence Skinner and one great grandchild, Dellan Cunningham. Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 31, 2000 at WOLFREY PEACE CHAPEL, 5225 E. Speedway, with burial to follow at Evergreen cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday at WOLFREY PEACE CHAPEL.

BONNIE CREIGH STAHL, 75, of Tucson, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2000. She was born in Ponca City, Oklahoma, November 19, 1924, but grew up in Garden City, Kansas. After graduating from Kansas University, she married F. Connor Creigh of Highland Park, Illinois. They had three children, Sam of Vermont, Emily of Tucson and Virginia of Flagstaff. They moved to Tucson in 1960. After Connor's death in 1974, she married John J. (Jack) Stahl in 1990. He preceded her in death in September of 1999. She much enjoyed her eight grandchildren, loved living in Tucson and loved life. Burial will be in Battle Lake, MN. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to TMC Hospice. A casual gathering in celebration of her life will be held at the Stahl residence on Friday, March 31, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to HEATHER MORTUARY.

GUERRERO, Marjorie Gail, 73, of Tucson, died Wednesday, March 29, 2000. She is survived by her husband, Jose; children, Joseph, Miguel, Gary, Gail, David, Mark; sisters, Betty, Mary, Virginia, Patricia; brothers, Robert, Richard; 13 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Marjorie and Jose owned and operated Guerrero's Palace Mexican Restaurant from 1966 until they retired in 1986. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 31, 2000 at HEATHER MORTUARY CHAPEL, 1040 N. HOLDCRAFT, Martha R., 73, of Tucson, passed away on March 29, 2000. She was born in Dunkirk, Indiana. The family moved to Tucson in 1951. She is survived by her loving husband, Robert J. Holdcraft; three sons, Chris, Steve and Jeff Holdcraft; four grandchildren, Rene, Julie, Scott and Sarah; three great-grandchildren, Kara, T.J., and Daniel and many other loving family members and friends. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2000 at 1:00 p.m. at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY. Interment will follow at South Lawn cemetery.

KENNARD, Alvin, age 71, laid his valiant armor down and went softly in the morning light to be with the Lord on March 28, 2000. He is survived by his wife, B. Jean Kennard; son, Allen Kennard; and granddaughter, Andrea Kennard. Other family members include brother, Melvin Kennard and wife, Jeri from Seattle; brother, Wesley Kennard and wife, Ruth from Wichita; and sister-in-law, Peggy Rainey from Arkansas. Alvin was a Civil Service employee who dedicated his life to volunteer service, working as a Red Cross instructor, in Search and Rescue, and as a Pima County reserve Sheriff Deputy, serving as a patrol officer and traffic investigator. He will be in our hearts forever. Arrangements by EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY.
