Walter left this world after a long and courageous battle with emphysema, to continue his life in the serenity of a much better place. He was surrounded by his loving family and passed peacefully. Walter lived the dignity of an ordinary life of extraordinary hard work and honesty. When Walter was 15 his father died and Walter supported his mother as a dairy farmer in Alma, Wisconsin. In 1958 he moved his young family to Tucson and ran his own business for many years, and later worked as a yard foreman for two plumbing and steel supply companies. Walter was generous toward those less fortunate and always willing to lend a hand. What he lacked in formal education he made up for in practical knowledge and creative problem solving. For many years he lectured at Holy Family Church. He enjoyed traveling in his motor home, bowling and playing cards. Even through the long years of his illness, Walter never complained and bore his trials with uncommon strength of mind and character. While he rarely spoke of his love for his family, he showed it in every word and action. We will miss him so.
