DUNLAP, Kathryn Luella Parry, passed away quietly in Tucson, AZ on May 21, 2000. She is survived by her beloved husband, Walter Townsend Dunlap of Tucson; and her brother, Frank C. Parry, Jr. of Florida. She was predeceased by her mother and father, Julia L. and Frank C. Parry of Pittsburgh, PA; and her three sisters, Dorothy Ida Parry Wilson, and Mildred Anna Parry Shaner Weisenbach of the St. Petersburg, Florida area, and her red-haired sister, Elizabeth (Betty) Parry who died of injuries in an automobile accident in 1934 when Kathryn was a senior at Coraopolis High School in Coraopolis, PA.
Kathryn was born November 14, 1916. She married Walter in Pittsburgh in 1944, and they moved to Tucson in 1949. She served as secretary to the Chairman of the Department of Agricultural Economics at the University of Arizona, and later as Administrative Assistant to the Vice President for Development where she managed the fund raising for the University of Arizona Medical School and coordinated events for the President's Club.
A reception in her honor will be held Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. at the home of J. Lawrence Dunlap, 11775 E. Rancho Los Rios in Tucson. Memorial gifts may be given to the Braddock's Field Historical Society, 419 Library St., Braddock, PA, 15104 for the renovation of America's oldest Andrew Carnegie Library, or to the Carondelet Hospice, 1802 W. St. Mary's Rd., Tucson, AZ 85745. Arrangements by ARIZONA MORTUARY UNIVERSITY CHAPEL.

HARRIES, Lucy L., 61, a long time resident of Tucson, was tragically killed in an automobile accident, Wednesday, May 17, 2000 in North Carolina. Lucy was born December 24, 1938 in Parkersburg, West Virginia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ivan L. Harries, her parents, and one grandchild. She is survived by her three children, Pamela J. Craven of Tucson, John C. Craven of Elon College, North Carolina and Timothy G. Craven of Phoenix; three grandchildren; one brother, Larry Watkins of Rocksboro, North Carolina; and her companion, Robert McBride. She worked for many years as an X-Ray Technician at St. Joseph's Hospital, University Medical Center, and several private clinics. A Celebration of her Life will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, May 25th at 7481 E. Lakeside Dr., Tucson, friends are invited to attend. For details or directions call 790-3551. RUBY PEARL MAY JOHNSON - Born in Lamasco, Texas, May 30, 1910 to Richard Columbus May and Emily Elizabeth Bryant, passed on to Heaven, May 16, 2000. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents; brother and sisters; husband, Hosie L. and son, Gerry Wayne. She left behind sons, L.E. (Arlene) Brown, John D. (Jeanette) Ballentine, Jr. and Leonard (Vickie) Johnson and daughters, Shirley McEwen and Sharon (Frank) Vallone, as well as 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, and niece and best friend, Emma Everingham. Graveside services will be 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2000 at South Lawn cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to HEATHER MORTUARY.

OELKLAUS, William Frederick, II, 84, of Tucson, loving husband and father passed away peacefully May 21, 2000 after a lengthy illness. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, LaVonne 'Bonnie' of Tucson; sons, William F. (Susan) Oelklaus, III of Juneau, AK, Gary Paul Oelklaus of Tucson; daughter, Mary Kathleen Andrews of Suisun City, CA. Proud grandfather of William IV, Regan, Erin, Shelby, Jack, Jason, and Jeremy; great-grandfather of Jennifer and Channing. preceded in death by one grandson, Jeffery. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and cousin, Martha (Don) Miller. A veteran of World War II, Mr. Oelklaus served as a control tower operator. After his military service he was a salesman, retiring from Purex Corp. He was active in F.O.E. Aerie #180 and was President of R.E.A.C. for one year. His hobbies included square dancing, bowling and playing cards with friends. Service will be Wednesday, 10:00 a.m., EVERGREEN MORTUARY, with Pastor J.W. Clutz of Dove of Peace Lutheran Church and F.O.E. Aerie #180 officiating. Entombment will follow at Holy Hope cemetery with military honors by the Southern Arizona Ritual Team. Friends may call one hour prior to service at EVERGREEN MORTUARY, N. Oracle & W. Miracle Mile. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Carondelet Hospice or charity of your choice.

JOSEPH 'JOE' ORONA, 46, of Tempe, passed away May 14, 2000. Survived by mother, Aurelia Orona; brothers, Manuel Orona, Robert (Clemintine) Orona, Michael Orona, Gilbert Orona; sisters, Belen Orona, Antonia (Guadalupe) Gonzalez
Joseph was loved by all who knew him. He was caring, smiled all the time and worked for Red Lobster in Mesa, AZ. He enjoyed to travel and was independent. Although he could not see the world or sights because of his blindness, he saw through his heart. He had many good friends who took good care of him while living in Mesa. He loved music and would DJ for KXCI and he also volunteered to ring the bell for the Salvation Army during Christmas time. He loved talking on the phone. Joe was a very special brother who had a heart of gold. He was always ready to give assistance and of himself. Joe had many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles whom he loved so dearly. He is preceded in death by his father, Manuel Orona and grandmother, Francisca Alvarez. Pallbearers are Michael and Gilbert Orona, Ray and Dave Brooks, Eddie Lester, Frank, 'Lupe' and Marcos Gonzalez.
Friends may call from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 24, at Adair Funeral Home, Dodge and Speedway. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, at Santa Cruz Church, 6th & 22nd. Interment at Holy Hope cemetery.

FRANCISCO R. 'TITO' ALCARAZ, age 24, a lifetime resident of Tucson, passed away May 21, 2000. Born September 24, 1975. Survived by his wife, Cynthia; parents, Ramon and Geraldine Alcaraz; brothers, Gerardo, Juan, Osvaldo, Jose Ramon (Maria), Mario (Celene), Tonio and Luis; sisters, Elsa (Arturo), Gloria (George) and Teresa; grandparents, Frank and Adelina Rodriguez; aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins and many friends. CAMPBELL, Shirley A., 73, passed away May 22, 2000. ELLINGER, Lila June, 51, of Tucson, passed away Friday, May 19, 2000. She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Ruth Weber; sister, Evelyn Huber; brother, John Weber. She is survived by her loving husband, Danuiel Ellinger, Sr. of Tucson, AZ; sons, Danuiel Ellinger, Jr. of Williams, AZ, Troy Ellinger of Tucson, AZ; daughter, Bonnita Ellinger of Tucson, AZ; brothers, Howard Weber of Perrysburg, Ohio, Donald Weber of Delta, Ohio, James Weber of Walbridge, Ohio, Kenneth Weber of Swanton, Ohio; sisters, Joyce Fravor of Toledo, Ohio and Roseane Frees, North Baltimore, Ohio; 11 grandchildren. There will be no services at the request of the family. Arrangements entrusted to HEATHER MORTUARY.

ALBERT GYURO, SR., 84, is now celebrating his passing into the hands of the Lord on May 22, 2000. Born July 2, 1915 in Corona, New York, the son of immigrant Hungarian parents, Al was raised on the farm in Jutland, New Jersey, one of seven brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Millie; children, Al Jr. (Sue), Joyce (Rick) Pezdirtz, Donald (Margaret), Martin (Linda), Lisa (Tim) White, Judy (Robert) Johnson, Gary (Terry), Ilona (Joe) Fague; sisters, Emma Hartmann, Martha Bandino; brother, Robert; 19 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Al and Millie were married September 3, 1938 in Cliffside Park, New Jersey. Al was in the car repair and service station business since 1939. In 1950, Al and Millie moved to Tucson from New Jersey where they raised their eight children. For over 40 years, the Gyuros owned and operated Albert's Service Station at the corner of Campbell and Broadway which continues to be operated today by son Gary with wife Terry.
Al was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, a St. Ambrose parishioner and a Salpointe High School Dad's Club member. He helped the schools by repairing their vehicles and supported their various fund raisers. The Newman Catholic Student Center on the U of A campus was the recipient of his support and devotion.
A University of Arizona Wildcat supporter and a Wildcat Club member, he attended countless football, basketball and baseball games.
Al's heart became weak, but it was a big, compassionate heart. He was always willing to help a person in need. He taught us children how to be self-sufficient. And he made us laugh. Oh, how he loved to tell a joke, no matter how corny. He loved life, loved his wife, loved his children. We miss you, dad, and we love you. Party on, Pops.
A Memorial Mass will be held at The Newman Catholic Student Center, 1615 E. 2nd St. on Thursday, May 25, 2000 at 6 p.m. A reception will follow the Mass at the Center. In lieu of flowers, the family would be grateful to have a memorial mass said in Al's name or remembrances may be made to The Newman Catholic Student Center, 1615 E. 2nd St. or to St. Ambrose Parish, 300 S. Tucson Blvd.

JAMES BERNARD HOLMES, 51, died peacefully on May 20, 2000. Survived by his wife, Donna; children, Michele (Duncan) Holmes, Shauna, Jamie and Scott Holmes; granddaughter, Maddie; mother, Joan (Bob) Kays; sisters, Penny (Bob) Treadway and Debbie Barnes; brothers, Barry (Lorie) Holmes, Robby (Sharon) Kays and Bob Kays; uncles, James and Richard McCoy. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. preceded in death by father, Orval Holmes. James was a driver and dispatcher for CTI. Dad, we and all your friends, will remember you for your smile, sense of humor and loving heart. It gives his family much comfort in knowing he is resting peacefully with our Lord. IATAROLA, Fay, age 91, of Tucson, AZ, died May 22, 2000. She is survived by son, Joseph A. Iatarola; daughter, Rubina (Joseph) Gallo; and granddaughter, Giada Gallo all of Tucson, AZ. Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Matilde; children, Diana, Brenda (Tony) Carbajal; three grandchildren, Adrian, Miranda and Marcos; sisters, Lorraine (Al) Olivarez, Mary Jane Robles, Eleanor Felix, Sally Ann Lee; brothers, Jimmie and Fred Lee; aunt, Catherine Lopez; lifetime friend, Carlos 'Charlie' Salaz; plus numerous nieces and nephews. PETERS, Edmund J. 'Pete', 70, died May 21, 2000. Father of Theresa (Craig) Saltzman, Virginia (Gary) Hesselink, Carol Peters and David (Cheri) Peters; grandfather of 10 grandchildren; brother of Clarke (Ida) Peters, Joe (Peggy) O'Brien and Adeline (Ernest) Richards; brother-in-law of Kay Peters; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; son, Brian and brother, Frank. He retired as a Senior Master Sergeant with the U.S.A.F. after 22 years and retired after 20 years with the Pima Community College as a science lab manager. SIMON, Ruth Edith, age 68, left us peacefully with the early morning dawn of May 21, 2000. She went to join her beloved son, Paul. She will be deeply missed by her loving husband, Stanley Simon; and daughters, Lenora Shealy (Patrick), Bernice Gonzales (Eddie), and Pamela Reed (Paul). She was a devoted grandmother to Daniel Shealy, Heather Gilbert (Anthony), Joshua Pepin, Kaleena Shealy, Kassandra Gonzalez, Nicole Gonzalez and Zachary Reed; and great-grandmother to Jazmine Moreno and Andrew Gilbert. We will miss you NaNa, but we know that you are resting comfortably now.
Ruth was born January 16, 1932 in Knutsford, Cheshire, England. She was a feisty little red head who lived her life with strength and determination. She took a new country by storm in 1952, but never forgot her beloved England or the family she left behind. Of seven brothers and sisters, she is survived by her sisters, Joan Martone of Queens, New York, Lyn Biggers of the United Kingdom; and her brother, Colin Bason of the United Kingdom. Along with many, many, nieces and nephews who will forever hold her in their hearts.
While your leaving us is hard to take, we are comforted in knowing that your suffering is finally over. We will miss you and keep you close to us with each minute of every day that passes.

GLADYS C. SKIDMORE was known and loved as 'Li'l Mom' in Arizona and throughout the world as she served the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls for more than 50 years. Born in Paducah, KY on September 21, 1903, she passed away on May 18, 2000 at the Eskaton Manzanita Manor Nursing Home in Sacramento, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy W. Skidmore. She is survived by her daughter, Margaret (John, LTC, USAF (Ret.) Lockhart; and granddaughter, Diane (John, Col. US Army (Ret) Truesdell; three great-grandchildren, Stephanie Truesdell McGraw, John C. Truesdell, Jr., Laura Truesdell; two great-great-grandchildren, Amanda and Matthew McGraw; two young sisters, Christine Ambrose and Lois Basey of Oklahoma.
A resident of Tucson for over 50 years she was very proud of her service as a Red Cross volunteer during World War II. She was a Past Matron of Arizona Chapter No.2, Order for the Eastern Star, and a member of the Daughters of the Nile. Her greatest love was for the Order of the Rainbow for Girls where she first served as Mother Advisor for Tucson Assembly No. 2 in 1941 and continued her service as Supreme Inspector over the Grand Jurisdiction of Arizona and then presiding over the international organization, serving as Supreme Worthy Advisor from 1986 until 1990. To 'Li'l Mom' every girl was 'Precious'.
Services will be held in Tucson on Thursday, May 25 at 11:00 a.m. at the Scottish Rite Cathedral, 160 South Scott. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Gladys C. Skidmore Memorial Scholarship Fund in care of the Grand Assembly of Arizona, P.O. Box 91971, Tucson, AZ 85752
