PAUL E. EWING, 78, died May 24, 2000 at his home in Tucson and he was ready 'For God so loved Paul Ewing, that He gave His one and only Son, Jesus Christ, so that if Paul would believe in Him, he would not perish but have eternal life.' John 3:16.
Paul moved to Tucson in 1973 and began Electronic City. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, DiAnn D. Ewing; sons, Joshua L. Ewing, Marty Paul Ewing, Glenn T. Ewing, Bryan E. Ewing; grandchildren, Ashley A. Ewing, Sarah J. Ewing, Joshua P. Ewing, Matt G. Ewing, Mitchell L. Ewing, Keats Martin Ewing, Parker W. Ewing; and daughters-in-law, Diane A. Ewing, Laura H. Ewing and Sharon Ewing.
A Celebration of Paul's Life will be Sunday, June 4, 2000 at Macayo's Restaurant, 7040 E. Broadway Blvd., 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.

PETE R. GALLARDO - Born on January 20, 1927 in Scottsdale, Arizona, died on May 28, 2000. preceded in death by his mother and father, Julia and Antonio Gallardo; brothers, Antonio and Joe; sisters, Manuela, Ramona, Agrepina and Angelita. Survived by his wife of 45 years, Augustina V. Gallardo; son, Ernie (Genevieve) Gallardo; daughter, Thelma (Tony) Gallardo-Almeida; grandson, Andrew 'Big Boy' Gallardo; sisters, Joaquina (Fernando) Montano and Maria (Jorge) Zazueta; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Also survived by his compadre and best friend, Rudy Bravo.
Pete served in the United States Army and was stationed in Japan during World War II. Many thanks to all the doctors, nurses and staff at the VA Hospital for their loving care. Pete was loved by all and will be greatly missed.

CHRISTOPHER NOAH GARIBAY went to our Lord on May 24, 2000. Christopher was born at UMC on October 9, 1983. He was raised in Mammoth and attended Mammoth Elementary, San Manuel Junior High and was to be a Junior at San Manuel High School. Chris was active in school functions and enjoyed sports of all kinds. He is survived by his mother, Sarahlee Flowers Tewart; his brother, Eric; his sisters, Amberlee, Felicia and Caitlin; grandparents, Gail Salazar and Willie Flowers; great-grandparents, Gail and Tennie Thrasher, Lewis and Repard Flowers, all of Mammoth; uncles, J-Buck, Wesley and Brian; aunts, Marsha and Vicky.

THOMAS HENRY - Born May 22, 1973, passed away on Friday, May 26, 2000 after a life long battle with Neurofibromatosis. Losing his hearing at the age of 13 did not prevent him from graduating from Immaculate Heart High School with a 4.0 average, and earning an Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Arizona. He was employed at Tucson Electric Power. Tom was a true inspiration to his family and friends and will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Helen and Joseph McGuire, Marge and John Washburne. SHORTELL, Thomas C., passed away on May 29, 2000. He was born on June 11, 1915 in Minot, S.D. He is preceded in death by his wife, Helen. He is survived by one daughter, Ilona Barsness; one son, Peter Shortell; four grandchildren, Sarah, Brian, Courtney and Zachary, and many other loving family members and friends. He served in WWII and the Korean War as an Airplane Gunner with the 13th Bomb Squadron'Grim Reapers' in the United States Air Force. He retired from the military after 25 years of service. He then became an employee for Pima County as an Assessor and retired from there in the mid 70's. He was an active member of VFW. A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 1 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY. Funeral Services will be on Friday, June 2 at 9:00 a.m. at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY. MARIE L. FRANSON, 86, of Tucson, passed away with her family present on May 30, 2000. She is preceded in death by her husband Olof Franson and grandson Robbie Zumwalt. Marie is survived by daughters, Donna (Bob) Zumwalt and Bette (Jim) Purcell; grandchildren, Bruce Gross, Lisa (James) Evers, Kim (Bob) Daly, Tammy Frayser and Eddie Lane; great-grandchildren, Nick, Grant, Brian, Brandon, Cody, Amanda, Shelby and Bryson. Marie was employed by Arizona Mortuary for over 20 years. She was a member of the Moose & Eagle Lodges. PETER C. GOUGH, 51, went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 30, 2000, after a valiant battle with cancer. Peter was preceded in death by his oldest son, Justin. He leaves behind his loving wife and best friend, Pam; his sons, Charles and Samuel and daughter, Jocelyn, all of Tucson; as well as family members in South Africa and England. Peter was born and educated in Johannesburg, South Africa. At the age of 16 he held his first job as an apprentice automobile technician. He studied mechanical engineering in college and chose a career in the automotive field. Peter's ability for problem-solving, his gifts of communication and conflict resolution and his strong desire to help others strive to be the best that they could be were some of the qualities that set him apart. His career included many years in automobile dealerships, five years with General Motors, and four years as an automobile consultant. For the past six years Peter was employed as General Manager of the Royal Automotive Group of dealerships in Tucson, where his presence will be greatly missed by all. Peter was a leader in Bible Study Fellowship in Tucson. He also served on the Board of Christian Family Care Agency, a private agency focused on adoption and foster care. Those who knew Peter are invited to a Memorial Service to be held at Catalina Foothills Church, 2150 E. Orange Grove Rd. MISNER, Herbert G., 70, a 10 year resident of Tucson, formerly of New York, passed away Sunday, May 28, 2000. He is survived by his sons, Jeff Misner, Stuart Misner and David Misner; and eight grandchildren. He will be joining his wife of 31 years but no services are scheduled at the family's request. MARIE THERESE NICHOLSON - Born in Chicago, IL, on September 30, 1932 was called home to our Lord on May 29, 2000. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Margaret Nicholson and her brother and best friend, Richard Jr. She is survived by sister, Sr. Sheila Nicholson; brothers, James J. (Mary Alice) and Thomas P. (Mary Jo) Nicholson; beloved nieces, Kathy, Clare, Mary Christine, Tammy, Kim and Nicole; and nephews, Richard (RJ), Tim, Sean and her best friend, Brian; and her beloved extended family of St. Cyril Parish.
The daughter of Irish immigrant parents, Marie served her entire life in the service of God, as a member of the Sisters of Providence – serving as teacher, principal and Mistress of Novices for over 20 years. In the early 70's Marie left the order to care for her parents here in Tucson and, after a brief return to the Midwest to pursue her Masters in Religious Studies, she returned to Tucson to begin a career with the Diocese of Tucson and her much loved St. Cyril's, which extended until the day of her passing.
Visitation will be Friday, June 2nd from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at St. Cyril's Church, 4725 E. Pima, where Funeral Services will be held Saturday, June 3rd at 2:00 p.m. with interment to follow at Holy Hope cemetery. There will be a celebration of life at the St. Cyril Parish Hall immediately following services.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Marie's many friends and neighbors at Trails West and to all of the staff and students at St. Cyril's that brought so much happiness and fulfillment to our sister's life over the years.
