NIETZ, Mildred Dorothy, 69, passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2000 in Tucson, AZ. She is survived by her husband, Darwin; and children, Shirley Winsor, Gordon (JoAnn) Nietz, Larry Nietz, Deborah (Steve) Dierkhising, Dennis (Anetia) Nietz; 11 grandchildren, one great-grandchild; also sister, Maxine (Robert) Walker; brother, Myron (Carolyn) Bicknese; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Melvin, sister, Myrtle and both parents, Albert and Clara Bicknese. ROJEWSKI, Bruno, 83, passed away Sunday, May 28, 2000. He was preceded in death by his wife, Adeline. Survived by their only son, Gerald (Gayle); granddaughter, Jennifer; and brother, Phil. WALLACE, Robert S., 85, of Tucson, passed away Sunday, May 28, 2000. He was a retired CMSGT in the USAF and was a veteran of WWII and the Korean War. He is survived by his daughter, Shirley Bindenagel (Dean) of Tempe, AZ; grandchildren, Scott, Daniel of Tempe, AZ; sisters-in-law, Annette Rzeznik and Helen Herbut both of NH. BRAUN, Donald Lee, 68, died May 30, 2000 in a car accident in Tucson. He was born February 9, 1932 in St. Louis, MO, son of John Bernard and Ann (Frey) Braun. He attended St. Louis University High School and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He graduated from Quincy College, Quincy, IL. Don served in the Army from 1953-1955. He moved to Tucson in 1955 to continue graduate work in zoology at the University of Arizona. Don worked for several years at the U of A library. He worked for the US Postal Service from 1967-1989, first as a clerk and, for many years, as an electronic technician at the Main Post Office. Don was a member and past President of the American Postal Workers Union, Tucson Area Local. Recently, he was employed part-time by the U of A and Pima Community College Art Departments, and by the Tucson City Parks & Recreation. Don took an active interest in solar energy, local affairs, hiking and camping. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Marilyn Jo Braun; his daughter, Diane Braun, her significant other, Mark Frederick; and his son, Mark and Julie (Preble) Braun. He was a caring husband, a loving father, and a great man who will be missed by all who knew him. The Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 3, at 9:30 a.m. in the Hedrick Chapel at the First United Methodist Church at Park and 4th St. (enter off of Tyndall Ave.)
BUFTON, John Ronald, 60, of Tucson, died Monday, May 29, 2000. He was born on September 12, 1939 in Los Angeles, CA. He is survived by his wife, Kathy Bufton; daughter, Heidi Tekunoff; son, John Bufton; stepsons, Kirk and Eric Schmitt, and Ryan Needler; stepdaughter, Meghan Needler; half-sister, Patricia Kreds; and grandchildren, Adriel Hong, Emily and Daniel Tekunoff, and Ryan Schmitt.
Ron served in the U.S. Navy as a chaplain's assistant on the USS Kearsarge. He served as pastor of Church of the Light in McKinleyville, CA for 10 years. He was an accomplished artist in metal sculpture and watercolor, and was a world renowned miniaturist. He was a member of the National Association of Miniature Enthusiasts. He attended Foothills Community Church.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 3, at 2:00 p.m. at Foothills Community Church, 3301 W. Overton Road, Tucson, with Rev. Jon Farmer officiating.

He is survived by his father, Jose Castellanos, Sr.; his mother, Sylvia Castro, fiancee, Angela Navarro; son, Jose III; daughter, Melissa Christina; sisters, Maria Socorro Castellanos, Josie Castellanos (Richard Hernandez); and brother, Marcos Raul (Desiree) Castellanos. MARIE L. FRANSON, 86, of Tucson, passed away with her family present on May 30, 2000. She is preceded in death by her husband Olof Franson and grandson Robbie Zumwalt. Marie is survived by daughters, Donna (Bob) Zumwalt and Bette (Jim) Purcell; grandchildren, Bruce Gross, Lisa (James) Evers, Kim (Bob) Daly, Tammy Frayser and Eddie Lane; great-grandchildren, Nick, Grant, Brian, Brandon, Cody, Amanda, Shelby and Bryson. PETER C. GOUGH, 51, went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 30, 2000, after a valiant battle with cancer. Peter was preceded in death by his oldest son, Justin. He leaves behind his loving wife and best friend, Pam; his sons, Charles and Samuel and daughter, Jocelyn, all of Tucson; as well as family members in South Africa and England. Peter was born and educated in Johannesburg, South Africa. At the age of 16 he held his first job as an apprentice automobile technician. He studied mechanical engineering in college and chose a career in the automotive field. Peter's ability for problem-solving, his gifts of communication and conflict resolution and his strong desire to help others strive to be the best that they could be were some of the qualities that set him apart. His career included many years in automobile dealerships, five years with General Motors, and four years as an automobile consultant. For the past six years Peter was employed as General Manager of the Royal Automotive Group of dealerships in Tucson, where his presence will be greatly missed by all. Peter was a leader in Bible Study Fellowship in Tucson. He also served on the Board of Christian Family Care Agency, a private agency focused on adoption and foster care. Those who knew Peter are invited to a Memorial Service to be held at Catalina Foothills Church, 2150 E. Orange Grove Rd. PAULINE R. HARTING, 71, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, went to be with the Lord on May 31, 2000. Born January 25, 1929 in Bridgeville, DE. She is survived by her sons, Hareesh Christian (Yolanda) of Sedona, AZ and Mark L. (Coleen); grandchildren, Adam, Daniel, and Meghan of Tucson, AZ.
After graduating from high school she attended nursing school then traveled to California. Upon returning to Delaware she met and married
Air Force TSGT. Luke W. Harting in April of 1952.
After many travels they settled in Las Vegas in 1962. She retired from Centel Telephone Company as a service representative. She was also a certified masseuse, a lover and friend of many animals, a member and speaker of the Las Vegas Cactus Club. She loved reading and the wonders of nature.
She was a devoted wife, mother and adored her grandchildren. Thank you Lord for allowing Paula to be a part of our lives. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 3, 2000 at EAST LAWN PALMS CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Road.

MARIE THERESE NICHOLSON - Born in Chicago, IL, on September 30, 1932 was called home to our Lord on May 29, 2000. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Margaret Nicholson and her brother and best friend, Richard Jr. She is survived by sister, Sr. Sheila Nicholson; brothers, James J. (Mary Alice) and Thomas P. (Mary Jo) Nicholson; beloved nieces, Kathy, Clare, Mary Christine, Tammy, Kim and Nicole; and nephews, Richard (RJ), Tim, Sean and her best friend, Brian; and her beloved extended family of St. Cyril Parish.
The daughter of Irish immigrant parents, Marie served her entire life in the service of God, as a member of the Sisters of Providence – serving as teacher, principal and Mistress of Novices for over 20 years. In the early 70's Marie left the order to care for her parents here in Tucson and, after a brief return to the Midwest to pursue her Masters in Religious Studies, she returned to Tucson to begin a career with the Diocese of Tucson and her much loved St. Cyril's, which extended until the day of her passing.
Visitation will be Friday, June 2nd from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at St. Cyril's Church, 4725 E. Pima, where Funeral Services will be held Saturday, June 3rd at 2:00 p.m. with interment to follow at Holy Hope cemetery. There will be a celebration of life at the St. Cyril Parish Hall immediately following services.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Marie's many friends and neighbors at Trails West and to all of the staff and students at St. Cyril's that brought so much happiness and fulfillment to our sister's life over the years. It is the request of the family that donations in Marie's memory be made to the St. Cyril's Education Foundation.

JOHNSTON, Agnes Rose, 99, of Tucson, formerly of Dent, MN, died June 2, 2000. She was born September 10, 1900 near Dent, MN, daughter of the late William and Augusta Du Ball Hancock. She was married
April 12, 1919 in Little Falls, ND to Earle King Johnston who preceded her in death on December 5, 1984. Survived by grandchildren, Richard William Johnston of Denver, CO and Sarah Johnston Dugger of Strasburg, CO; great-granddaughters, Abby Reed Johnston and Hannah Rose Johnston both of Denver, CO; a step-great-granddaughter, Melissa Dugger of Strasburg, CO. Many nieces and nephews including Jean Dreyfuss and James Hauglum both of Tucson. Mrs. Johnston was predeceased by her sons, Willard Earle Johnston and Richard Wallace Johnston.
